pinched directly from ultraruby, reposted because i am very much in favour of both of these communities & think that maybe you will like them too.
In case you haven't heard me blabbing on about it before, beecd is community for swapping mix CDs and it is great and you should ALL join. Yes yes. Basically what happens is everyone makes three copies of a compilation based around a set of eight themes (like 'a song with gargling in' or 'a song that mentions birds') and then tops it up with other songs. Then they send the three CDs in to us, and after a while they get three other CDs in return. It is a cool thing to do and it's nice to get music from anonymous people, plus the more people do it the more fun p_dan_tic and ultraruby have checking out all the artwork and deciding who should get what and putting everything into jiffy bags and so on.
So yes, beecd! Go there NOW to make theme suggestions! Check back in a few days for details and deadlines for the next round! Sign up and make some lovely CDs for folk you may or may not know! Woo!
Also please do post in and promote broadbean, if you want. Of course you don't have to, but I think it could grow into a good community for talking about music.
i've done a few beecds already & it is indeed a good way of hearing new music. ultraruby & i started up broadbean because we like to hear about new music & rant about new music & there wasn't already a music community that did what we wanted it to. well, if there is we haven't found it yet! it's not a theme based thing, it's really just about you recommending stuff to us & vice versa. we like it.
