My true name is Reki.
礫It means 'small stone'.
I've been lost for a long time. A hell of a lot longer than I thought. Someone helped me find my way, before, but then I came here and I lost myself again. I remember now.
I've been so damn lucky. Luckier than I deserved. There's always been people who cared about me, who took care of me, and I'm grateful. I'm no good at this kind of thing, but...thanks. To all of you. I mean that.
Living here was a little bit of hell and a lot of heaven, and I'm glad I got the chance.
But I've had my time. I need to let go now.
[Pause.]Above? Are you still here? I'll be in the old hatchery for a few more days. I don't know if that auction still holds, but if you're alright with it, I'd like to fly one last time.
[Kurayami has taken her paints up to the abandoned hatchery and is using them up, painting the Tree, sprawling broad across the wall as promised months ago. She adds, dreamlike in among the leaves and between the buildings, tiny portraits of everyone whose face she can remember. If anyone wants to say goodbye, now's your chance.]
