Review
“When I picked up a copy of Supercharging Productivity with Trello, I thought it would be a review of what I already know, but boy, was I wrong! Brittany does a fantastic job taking you from the basics of Trello to the crazy things you can do with Power-Ups and Automation to unlock your productivity. My favourite sections by far were the real-world Trello boards (amazing to see how Trello can be used in different ways) and the sections on automation (I never realized how much automation has been built into Trello). This is my go-to reference now as I try to do crazy cool things with my Trello boards!”

- Reviewed in the United States on May 28, 2025Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseSuch a great book! I'm one year in using Trello and I was ready for more. Brittany's book was just what I needed! I learned some fantastic tips I didn't know about and also how to level up with automations and triggers. Brittany does a wonderful job breaking it down and providing examples along with pictures so that it all makes sense. Highly recommend!
- Reviewed in the United States on August 14, 2023Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseThis book is definitely your guide to the Trello-Verse, whether you're a long-time user of Trello or are new to the tool. Brittany's expertise and humor make this book a fun and engaging read. She writes in a way that new users can quickly grasp how to start using Trello immediately. And for users who have been working with it for years (such as myself), she's also there to help those users leverage Trello's numerous strengths.
Within a day of starting to read this book, I was changing how I use Trello for my business, for the better. I knew Trello could do more than act as categorized, digital notecards, and this book made me feel like Brittany was right there with me, helping me to do things like AUTOMATE my boards and lists for the first time (something I previously felt was out of reach.) I'm using Trello more actively and more wisely, thanks to Brittany.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 14, 2023Format: PaperbackI'm a long time Jira user and I was very excited to read this book. I never used Trello before and I started using while following along with this book. I am very impressed how well Brittany wrote this book. Given that prior to reading this book, I had never used Trello before, I feel that I'm ready to be much more productive. I always knew that Trello was much easier to learn and enjoy when compared to Jira, but reading this book and following the example has really shown me how great Trello can really be.
The book is written in an engaging and easy-to-follow manner, making it suitable for both beginners and those familiar with Trello. It starts with the basics, guiding you through setting up your first boards and lists. But what really impressed me were the advanced tips and strategies shared later in the book.
One part that I really liked were all the different examples and uses Brittany presented this in this book. I'm not a very creative person and I learned how you can use Trello for so many different uses. I knew there were many technical applications, but I was surprised to learn how you can use Trello for pretty much anything in your life! Trello really is the ultimate digital whiteboard!
If you are looking for a book on Trello that is going to cover the A->Z, then this is the right book for you. When you finish this book, you'll feel less like a novice and more like a Trello fan!
- Reviewed in the United States on August 11, 2023Format: PaperbackMy Atlassian journey started with Jira, not Trello. It wasn't until I needed something to keep track of my book project that I took a serious look at Trello. I was amazed at how powerful it was, even in its simplicity.
Brittany Joiner has embodied both the power and the simplicity that makes up Trello in her book, "Supercharging Productivity with Trello: Harness Trello's powerful features to boost productivity and team collaboration". As a fellow Atlassian Community Leader, I was given the opportunity to read a pre-release copy of this book and here are my thoughts.
Brittany takes us from the beginning to a seamless Trello experience. She starts us on that experience in the early chapters by showing us through text and pictures how to create our first Trello board and populate our first cards. She then shows us how to improve the information on our cards with advanced features and integrations.
With boundless energy, she moves us further, demonstrating advanced Trello features such as automation, allowing our cards to come to life based upon external actions. Finally, Brittany shows us Power-Ups, add-on capabilities to enhance the boards themselves.
The truth is most of Trello's power is masked by its simplicity. It takes a masterpiece such as Brittany's book to show that power so everyone can take advantage of it. If you're a Trello user, novice or advanced, reading this book will improve your acumen with Trello and make your Trello experience that much better.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 14, 2023Format: KindleI'm one of those people who likes to dig into software to get the most from it. I've enjoyed the journey with Trello but must admit some of it has been daunting. I checked out this book and found what I need to "level up" with my Trello usage. The author has a nice structure to the book, emulating learning Trello for the beginner. But each chapter has some "take away" for even seasoned users. Then she gets into some very advanced stuff that opened my eyes to additional Trello capabilities. What I really like is the easy, conversational tone to her writing; makes the book material very accessible.
As I started I had a punch list of topics I hoped would be covered (i.e. that I wanted to learn more about) and she hit all of them. I really like the real world use case examples given. I added some automations that will make life easier that I hadn't even thought about.
I read the book cover to cover even though I'm not currently using some of the functions. But I now have a reference for when I have a use for "Amazing Fields", for example. Highly recommend this book for anyone wanting to get the most out of their Trello experience.
