I don't plan to add support for any community content except for expanded Master Levels sets and Hellion (eventually when it's out).

I thought about doing that, but decided against it for three reasons:

  • The way I implemented switching soundtracks for Sigil is a hack. I'm afraid that applying it to every other map could break compatibility with other mods. I literally had a nightmare about this tonight.
  • Replacing the music traditionally is a much simpler solution that should be compatible with any wad.
  • The hacky way in which I implemented switching music wouldn't work for the intermission music in text screens.

I meant it more in the sense that I wasn't sure if it's worth adding support for a mod that isn't fully supported by the engine itself yet, but if it's that minor of a difference, I guess it could be attempted now, and patched later.

I still haven't actually played through Legacy of Rust, I was planning to do it this weekend.

Could I private message you somewhere to discuss this further?

Sure! You can check out if any of the stuff I changed so far is worth keeping, as I'm mostly just winging it.

It's the same fork as the one I did a pull request from back in December, when you added Sigil II support. I just finished adding support for generating a pk3 of Andrew Hulshult's alternate soundtrack.

Thank you for the years of support. I completely understand the reasons behind not wanting to extend support for this new release.

As somebody who prefers to use GZDoom over a Nightdive-developed fork, and really appreciated having all official and semi-official Doom games as one WAD, I won't be satisfied with the new release.

I had already forked Wadsmoosh last year after Sigil II was released, to add several fixes and features that I personal wanted to see. I will look into what it takes to add support for Legacy of Rust, but I'll probably only take the proper time to do it if and when GZDoom adds ID24 support.
