Whew, busy, busy

I seem to be dropping the ball over the last few days, so I offer apologies to all for not visiting as regularly as usual. Hopefully, I’ll be back on track soon. My edited manuscript came back, so I’m trying to correlate book 3 of my orples series. This is page 30 of the prototype of “The Orples Learn To Read”. Right now, I am redoing the entire book, so the fonts will change and any errors should be corrected, prior to publication.

Averettes Horses

One thing Danville had to offer was Averette University, and they in turn, offered equestrian courses. In the spring time, Averette would bring 20 – 25 horses to the farm for two or three months to board them, so their own pastures could ‘rest’. These are but a few of their fine beasts.

A group of horses belonging to the students of Averette University, temporarily boarded at the farm.

That pesky tractor needs to go around us, can't it see we're trying to eat here?

Happy Easter

Olivia and Oscar wanted to see if you want to come hide Easter Eggs in celebration of their first Easter. They are excited to join in the fun, and hope you will, too.  Even if you don’t want to help hide eggs with them, they are sending you their love and Easter Blessings, in hopes that this year, we can all rejoice in the beauty of spring, and the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

King of King Award

I owe Francine in Retirement an apology for not having posted this award sooner, and  a big thank you for thinking of me in the first place.  There are several bloggers,  still left to thank, and various awards waiting to be acknowledged, but time is not cooperating, so the delay continues.  In the meantime, I hope Francine will forgive me,  in this instance, for my tardiness in presenting this blessing to others.  Today seemed like a good time to pass the blessing along, so here we go.

Thank you so much Francine for these blessings.

In Francine’s words, and perhaps others before her …

Here is their word on the King of Kings Friendship Award.

We would like to offer you our Brother or Sister in The Lord… The King of Kings Friendship Award…some call it a Blessing instead of an Award, you can accept it as you feel in your heart to, or not.

And if you feel you would like to pass it on to encourage others in the Body of Christ and in the Family of God..there are no rules or set requirements, you are under no obligation in any way, it’s just our way of offering thankfulness for the blessing you are by willingly choosing from the heart to walk fully in the beauty of the person God is conforming you to be by the empowering of The Holy Spirit, which is the image of His Awesome Son…

Jesus Christ whose Name is above all Names.

What Is a Friend?

“One who multiplies joys, divides grief, and whose honesty is inviolable.”

“One who understands our silence.”

“A volume of sympathy bound in cloth.”

“A watch which beats true for all time and never runs down.”

“A friend is the one who comes in when the whole world has gone out.”

What a friend we have in Jesus!

“A true friend is always loyal, and a brother is born to help in the time of need.”  — Solomon (Proverbs 17:17)

I believe I have met so many new friends in the blogging community and I cherish each one of you for the individuals you are and the special gift each has contributed to all of us in your unique way.

Weekly Photo Challenge . Journey

I hope trail rides count as journeys, because that’s what I’ve got to offer. In this case we rode in the mountains of North Carolina. This was the “Love Valley” ride. We spent four days camping under the stars with our horses.

On top of the mountain

‘T’ posts and wire were used to make a corral for the horses, when we weren’t riding them. A waterfall about 5 miles away was our shower, and the town, which provided nightly entertainment on the weekends, was closed to motor vehicles. The streets were lined with hitching posts and wooden sidewalks. There were tack shops, a farrier, a saloon, complete with pool table, dart boards, and a live band. There was a supply/grocery store and some souvenir shops lining the streets. The trails began on the ‘other’ side of town.

If not a journey, these four days were definitely an experience.

Sunday photo Challenge . Nature #2

I have two nature #2 posts this week. This one is actually #3 for the week, but I mislabeled the original #2 and put it under the weekly post by mistake, so this shot is intended to serve a dual purpose. It is a substitute for the first post to make up for my error, and it is a post in itself, just because these trees in their struggle to survive are so cool.

These trees are gripping the embankment for dear life ... literally. If not for their grip in the Earth, they would surly topple and die.

Of course, if you prefer to look up, instead of down, I have more trees (what is more natural than trees?), only these are reaching for the sun, and the moon, and the stars, as they appear to touch the sky, in their salute to the heavens.

From a tiny seed to a pillar of nature, beautiful trees standing tall!

Weekly Photo Challenge. Nature # 2

I think anyone that has ever seen a Magnolia Tree, and breathed in its aroma, has got to agree that it is a definite gift directly from Mother Nature to the Earth. No one can deny the trees beauty, or its fragrance.

In full bloom, and almost spent.

After the petals have dropped, an interesting pod is all that remains.

Sunday Photo Challenge . Nature

Recycled life strikes again. I can look at this photo and see the strong healthy tree this beauty once was. With time and weather, nature’s elements have taken their toll. Yet, the remainder of this tree may stand for years to come, as it’s dead branch supplies food for insects. The hollow center of the tree is, no doubt, a home for larger wildlife.

The fallen branch, though now dead, still supports life.

Weekly Photo Challenge . Arranged

How could I pass up the opportunity to advertize my crocheted orples? These little guys are one-of-a-kind, hand made, pairs, I’m selling on Etsy.  It takes about 4 hours to make a pair of them, and they will be limited to no more than 50 sets.

I made my grandchildren each a set for Christmas and they love them. Unlike most toys, these little critters can be run through the washer and dryer.  With no small parts, even babies can play with them. Sara is my hero for giving me a subject I can exploit … LOL. 🙂 You guys wish me luck in sales, please.
