Ten fire engines are in attendance, from Widnes, Runcorn, Penketh, Congleton, Crewe, Frodsham, Northwich, Macclefield a weekday fire engine and a fire engine from Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service.
These are being supported by specialist resources including a command unit, a water bowser, a high volume pump and a welfare unit.

Firefighters are in attendance at a fire in a waste recycling facility in Pickerings Road, Widnes.
The fire involves a large amount of waste material and has spread to a steel framed building. Crews have split the incident into sectors to manage. Six firefighters wearing breathing apparatus are using hose reel jets to tackle the fire.
There is a smoke plume being generated by the fire. Nearby residents are advised to keep windows and doors closed.

Our high reach extending turret (HRET), also known as the Scorpion, from Macclesfield is now in use to help dampen down the fire from above.
A smoke plume is still visible. Nearby residents are advised to keep windows and doors closed.

UPDATE 16:30 | The incident was reduced to 3 fire engines, the HRET and a high-volume pump at around 15:50. Crews are continuing to dampen down the area in sectors.
UPDATE 09:00 on Thursday, 4 June | Crews remain at the scene of the fire in Widnes.
At approximately 18:00, police reopened the road. Firefighters removed the building’s contents and continued dampening them down, using a thermal imaging camera to identify and extinguish hotspots. Crews remain on site, and further updates will be provided as they become available.
