Harvey Fierstein is my hero!
Afternoon, gentle reader,
Well, as some of you might know, I listen to Spinner.com, the showtunes channel ... a lot. I am not well-liked at my job because of this. hehehe
However, I just heard a bit of the music from "Hairspray" the Broadway musical that is modelled after the John Waters movie.
Harvey Fierstein, who is the author and star of Torch Song Trilogy, possibly my favorite movie of all time, took over Divine's role onstage.
Now, can we talk about unlikely winners? Unlikely winners are people who should'nt have made it, but did. Harvey Fierstein is gay, struggles with his weight, has a deep, deep bass voice, and can hardly carry a tune ... yet, he's playing in a Broadway musical, and has had at least one hit movie, and play. He certainly is NOT that Hollywood stereotype of perfect anything, yet he's a star. Which means that I can be a star or at least a moderately successful actor.
Look out Broadway, here I come.
Harvey, honey, if you're single, so am I. ;-D
Light and Laughter,
Travis
