Holiday Wishlist Meme!

STEP ONE

★ Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered or
whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain
your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from
simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just
for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I
want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing
is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

★ If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you
include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your
address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves)
could get in touch with you.

★ Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ so that the holiday joy will spread.

STEP TWO

★
Surf around your friendslist (or friends' friends, or just random
journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important
part:

★ If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.

You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't
to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone
else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or
not--it's your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just... wish, and it might come
true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing
you made someone's holiday special.

THE WISHLIST
1) Byakuran/Izaya fanworks. I am not joking. Even a small piece would make me weirdly happy.
2) HUNGER GAMES STUFF. THE BOOKS IN PARTICULAR.
3) THIS BEAUTIFUL PIECE OF ~~ASS~~ PLASTIC
4) An inumog doujin. Any one of them... ~~but probably Sweet Discolor in particular hnngh~~
5) In the book vein, the His Dark Materials series. I've read all of the books, sans Lyra's Oxford, but they were on loan from the library.
6) Also in the book vein: the Stravangaza series
7) Cards, if you want to send them to me, either by email or by snail mail!
8) That you all have a safe holiday, no matter what you celebrate! And be merry!

So I'm opening up an art request post.

Mind you, it's not the best stuff in the world. And I'm only willing to do a limited amount of fandoms (ie. ones I'm familiar with: YYH, APH, DRRR!!, RuroKen) and will only color on request. That means by default all drawings will be pencil sketches.

If you want samples, Here is my deviantArt account. Not much in the way of the aforementioned sketches. Here's one sketch. It's kinda of sucky.

So, if you trust my art "skills," post a comment saying what/who you want drawn.

I speak English fluently, understand Tagalog somewhat, and can get by with my Japanese. I can kinda understand Spanish, French and German. Right now I'm taking Latin in school. If I could take another language, it would be Japanese (formally instead of trying to teach it to myself.

I should answer this, of course.

TOP THREE

1. Stravaganza: City of Masks by Mary Hoffman
- Because alternate universe historical fiction is awesome. Also, it involves its AU version of Italy, therefore making it something I would pick up immediately. The story is good, and it leaves plenty of room at the end for sequels. Which it did. They are good as well. Yay magic-that's-their-world's-science!

2. The Northern Lights/ The Golden Compass by Philip Pullman
- Again, AU historical fiction. I just love the idea of having a world that's different than ours, especially if the change was just one minor detail. And there are talking animals! It sucks that if they die, you die, though. Oh well. And the Church is the villain. What a twist. I'm surprised my parents didn't get that when they watched the movie with me. I'm glad that they didn't, actually.

3. The Giver by Lois Lowry
- More alternate universe-ness. But it's not historical fiction. Or written by a British person (Most of my favorite authors seem to be British, haha). It's about this boy named Jonas that lives in a supposed utopia, but after apprenticing with the "chief elder" of his town, realizes that utopia sucks. And he's special because he can see color. That's right, UTOPIA HAS NO COLOR. WTF. It's a well-written book, and a good starting point for those who want to get into dystopian literature.

BOTTOM THREE

1. The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain
- I don't think Mark Twain is a bad writer. Not at all. It's just that Tom Sawyer didn't really entertain me. Sure, a lot of people think it's classic American literature. I personally don't. I guess I'm more of a fantasy person. My apologies to his fans.

2. Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden
- This book is just full of research fail and unauthorized name-dropping. Read Mineko Iwasaki's book if you want a more accurate geisha book.

3. Twilight (series) by Stephanie Meyer
- I'm not jumping the bandwagon here. Twilight is a series full of stalker issues, suicidal obsession, unnecessary sex and deus ex machinae. And grade schoolers read this? Shame on their parents for not knowing better.

I know I'm a little late on posting about this, but I'm just gonna say I hope those affected by Ondoy are doing as well as they can. I'm sorry for those who have family who died. My family personally is safe, although my uncle's house (which used to belong to my parents, with us living there) got flooded completely. Please, those of you who can, help.
