Hi, I’m Rosemary.

I weave together poetry, design, and code. My favorite machine is a floor loom, but you’ll find me at home in a text editor too. In either mode, I’m speaking the language of details, interaction, spatial awareness, and drape… in short, craft!

I remember learning HTML from a library book circa age 8, and again at 21. I’ve been authoring it professionally since 2019. Today, I rest in the lands known as Zhigaagong and Wabanakik, in a beautiful chosen family of artists and question-askers.

Below is a curated selection of my digital work. If anything piques your curiosity, please drop me a line.

Practice

I focus in making legible, fluent, and harmonious websites.

This includes a holistic view of diverse users’ experiences, semantic markup, modern CSS, and progressive enhancement.

It also includes a critical awareness of the social worlds that sustain computing, and of how our work transforms them in return.

I find inspiration in…

Toolbox

One of my favorite parts of this medium is puzzling through something new every time— a new tool, pattern, or concept (many of which are actually quite old!). I hope to be in beginner’s mind for a long time.

Ethics Statement

Electronic systems have enabled the exercise of power and hierarchy unprecedented in human history. For this reason, I feel it is important to consciously divest from structures of computational oppression and dependence. I am optimistic that we can instead use computers in service of mindfulness and social cohesion, if we intentionally strive to.

To that end, I am explicitly uninterested in working with organizations that do business with militaries, weapons manufacturers, fossil fuel companies, police and border patrol, or any BDS target.
