I'm going to teach you how to go from this,

First find your base. Mine is by girlcalledxkill.

Duplicate your base once and set it to soft light 100% depending on your image.

Make a new layer with #b19e9e and set it multiply 90%.

make a new layer with #254068 and set it to Dodge 100%

Another new layer with #d9aed3 and set it to overlay 100%.

Add another new layer with #7f8c2b and set this one to grain merge 70%.

Last new layer: fill it with #eca5ca and set it to softlight 88%.

Then I added some text and you're done!

Hello to everyone. I hope you guys are having a great day, blah blah. Anyway, as you may or may not know, many people have been taking my graphics / tutorials without crediting or commenting. For those of you who are UNAWARE, both ARE necessary when taking anything from omg_resource or ANY community you see my graphics at.</lj> **PLEASE DO NOT FORGET**

I would also like to point out that yes, I do know how many people download my .psds or not. There are more than four times more people who don't comment and take the .psd than people who do!!!!! This isn't going to work.

There ARE going to be some changes with omg_resource because it's just not acceptable. Sorry for those people who actually do comment and credit. You are <3.

The change is unknown for now but it will probably be one of the following.

Community MEMBERS ONLY with MODERATED membership.
Colorings ONLY for mutual friends I TRUST.

Miss Mosh tutorial

First, get your base ready. Mine is of Miss Mosh and is made by girlcalledxkill. You can sharpen your base, duplicate it, etc., etc., but for this tutorial, I didn't do anything to my base. I just left it alone. You might want to experiment with it, depending on the type of lighting you have for the image you pick. Please note: this tutorial works best with images that have some red and/or blue that you want to pop. In this case, it's the eyes and lips. Although, feel free to test this out with images that don't necessarily have blue/red you want to stand out!

First, we're going to add a Curves layer.
RGB, Input: 115, Output: 136
Blue, Input: 121, Output: 139
For this layer, I wanted to brighten it up a little bit and add some blue to the image. The image turned out a little too blue, though, and the lips didn't fit in.

Next I made a Selective Color layer.
Reds: -100, +70, +100, -30
Yellows: 0, 0, +30, 0
Whites: 0, 0, 0, -60
Neutrals: +50, 0, 0, 0
Wow, that was a switch! The whites of her hair increased, the lips fit in more, and the eyes are a gorgeous blue! Plus her skin looks much smoother and nicer now.

Make a new color fill. Fill it with #3a2f33 and set it to Lighten 40%.
I wanted the blacks (even though there are little in this image) to have a little gray-er effect. If your image has more black and it looks weird, feel free to make the percent lower, or the other way around.

The saturation (mostly red) wasn't high enough, so I made a new Hue/Saturation layer.
Saturation: +10
Now the reds on my image are a little more upped and the yellow in the background looks brighter!

To darken my image a tad, I added a new fill layer with #e5e6ed. I set it to Multiply 50%.
And you're done!

Non-translatable (I think.)

MATERIALS: The GIMP (I use 2.2), an image / base, basic knowlege

Find your base,

Mine is by girlcalledxkill.

Duplicate it once and set it to Screen 100%.

Duplicate it again and set this copy to Screen 60%.

Make a new layer with #a3c2ed as the foreground color. Set it to Grain extract 100%.

Make another layer with #524242. Set it to Overlay 100%.

Duplicate your base, set it to Overlay 100%. Bring it to the top of all the layers.

Make another new layer with #ffe400. Set this layer to Overlay 30%.

Hey, everyone loves animations! Those little moving icons are sweet, those gifs in profiles are cool. Animations are just so great. So, to all the members and watchers of omg_resource, you can request some animations from me.

There are just some basic rules you need to follow...
- No anonymous comments in this post. I won't take your request.
- All fields are mandatory. If you leave one blank, I won't take it.
- Nothing...overly mature, please. I don't want to be animating naked people or whatever.
- You must send me the video link. And, remember, when you give me the link, send me the highest quality possible. I will not go around YouTube and find videos for you.
- Please, please, please use your animation. Don't make me do this all for nothing.
- Do NOT take advantage of me by asking for 40 animations.
- I like comments when I'm done.
- Credit is required. If you don't know how to credit, ask.

Examples: Animated gifs, Mini-animated gifs, ask for more.

Useful Info for Filling Out the Form...
+ I will make either an icon or a regular gif (for your profile). If you want something else, ask me and I'll see.
+ You don't have to use it on Livejournal, but I'd like to know where you do use it. Credit is required either way.
+ You must include the video. It must be a YouTube video, no other. If anything happens to the video (deleted, etc.), you are responsible in finding a new one if I comment to let you know.
+ What part do you want me to animate? It must be a reasonable amount of time (NOT 1 minute!) and you must do it according to the video link you sent.
+ I will only do simple effects and short words or sentences, phrases.

(Uses only color fills and one curves!)

First, find your base. Mine is of Katy Perry which I made from an image off of KatyPix.com. Duplicate your base twice. Set the first copy to Soft Light 100%. Set the second copy to Luminosity 100% and sharpen it. Feel free to make adjustments.

Please note: this tutorial will end up looking really bad until the very end, so don't quit until it's done.
First make a color fill layer with #18007a. Set it to Exclusion 40%.

Make a new color fill layer with #440000 and set it to Exclusion 100%.

Make another color fill layer and fill it with #930000. Set it to Soft Light 80%.

Make another color fill layer (last one!) with #000326. Set it to Exclusion 100%.

Duplicate your base and set it to Soft Light 100%. Drag it to the top.

Now make a Curves layer with these settings.
Input: 132, Output: 121
You're done!

Tutorial- (Graphic-) making Tips

All of these Graphic- and tutorial-making tips are just things I suggest. If they don't work, sorry, they're just suggestions. These tips are to no one in particular; I just wanted to show you some basic things I usually do for my graphics and/or tutorials. Here we go!

Making Tutorials (when starting off from scratch on your result!)
DO'S!
+ Have a mental image of what your tutorial product will look like, or know what you're aiming for. Usually, when I don't have one, it doesn't end up the greatest way. You can simply think about increasing hues of red, or brightening up the image, just try to have a mental image in mind!
+ If you aren't going to have a mental image, just play around with your tools and be open to possibilities. If something looks bad when you first do it, don't delete it right away: play around a little more. Sometimes a tutorial (coloring, mostly) may look horrible when you start out, but it might look amazing when you continue! (If it doesn't, just go back and delete it!)
+ Experiment with different base images. A tutorial might look terrible on one image, but it could look fantastic on another! It's happened before to me...multiple times!
+ Get inspired! Look at other tutorials and maybe you'll get a little inspiration from them. Some of my tutorials got inspiration from others that were not alike in any way, so don't think only "amazing" tutorials give you inspiration.
+ Be calm and/or happy while creating a tutorial. Usually I get best results.
+ SAVE IT AS A .PSD FILE (or word document for those who have other programs) ON YOUR COMPUTER WHERE YOU CAN FIND IT WHEN YOU'RE DONE! Seriously! I'm not even kidding!

DON'TS!
+ Don't expect something amazing to pop up and don't start worrying about if anyone will like it. If they do, they do and if they don't, they don't! You can worry about that later.
+ Don't be limited to just what you're used to. Play around with things: it doesn't hurt!
+ Don't get too "inspired." Copying/stealing is really stupid and anyone who does it needs to get a life. If you think you got overly inspired, give them credit, just in case. (As in, inspired by userwhoever)
+ Don't make your tutorial fifty steps long! Nobody has the time or patience for a tutorial that long.
+ Don't immediately save your tutorial when it looks good. Play around with it some more and see if you can improve it any way.
+ Don't think people won't notice if you steal/copy/redestribute. People aren't stupid. You might think so, but they're not.
+ Don't steal. Don't copy. Don't redestribute. Jeez!

Posting Tutorials (when you're done making them)
DO'S!
+ Give more examples. It might look better with other images in other peoples' opinions.
+ Say which images look best with the tutorial. It helps people, it saves time, and usually causes a few questions less to answer for you ;)
+ Make sure all credits you need to give (bases, inspiration, textures, brushes, etc.) are given properly. It is not fun to have makers' friends and fans hating and bugging you!
+ Give details and try to explain to your best ability. Give pictures of how the image should look for certain steps (although you don't see that too often anymore) or take screencaps (press "Print Screen" on your keyboard) of what the steps, values, etc.
+ Mention at the end that you will answer any questions or problems if there are any.
+ Encourage members to join your community or friend you!
+ Include a .psd in the entry or offer one if they comment and ask for it (screen your comment). Say it's in your journal/community (provide the link, of course) or tell them to ask for it there. This gets you more comments where you want them: in your journal/community. This also lets lazy people try your tutorial out (who isn't lazy these days?!).
+ Cross post at other communities such as icon_tutorial, icon_coloring, resourcelove or psd_tuts (if you include a .psd file). This will get them to see your tutorial, rather than have only stalkers, that look on your journal every five seconds or your user info, see it.
+ Comment back to users with questions (or comments)!

DON'TS!
+ Don't write like you're drunk. Write in eligible English (or whatever language your tutorial is in) and avoid using IM slangs nobody knows of (omgisaiasefsay!), writing in caps lock or switching (HoW aRe YoU tOdAy?), etc.
+ Don't force others to friend or join your community/journal!
+ Don't make your tutorials members only unless you have tons of friends/members!
+ Don't get mad if you don't get many comments, downloads, etc. Just work harder!
+ Don't expect everyone to know what they're doing. There are some people, that are just starting off, that like your tutorial, too, so maybe you should give it a shot and explain it to them if they ask, or, even better, post simple instructions from the start!
+ Don't make your tutorial in teeny tiny fonts or in super bright colors so no one will be able to see. Also, don't put everything in bold, italics, underlined, or ~~strike out~~, since this looks really annoying.
+ Don't forget to credit anyone!
+ Don't act annoyed or be rude to anyone if they ask a question! You were a newb once, too.
+ Again I say: Don't steal. Don't copy. Don't redestribute.

Inspired by a question by sentencesofyrs at coloring_help

sentencesofyrs asked about a coloring at coloring_help and I decided to play with the image she gave and share my result because I think it's pretty nice, especially since it's for the GIMP :D
- Duplicate your base twice. Set it once to Soft Light 100% and then the second time to Screen 100%.
- Make a new layer with #6b3c1d and set it to Soft Light 100%.
- Make another new layer with #f1c4a5 and set it to Burn 100%.
- Make a new layer with ##6b3c1d and set it to Screen 100%.
- Duplicate your base again and set it to Soft Light 100%. Bring it to the top.
- Make a new layer with #216d00. Set it to Overlay 70%.

I love this picture of Jess (from the Veronicas) so I decided I'd change it up a bit. You know, bring up the reds, blacks, whites, whatever. This tutorial mostly consists of bringing up blacks, reds, and whites. So this obviously means that it will work best with images with a lot of those colors. It will still work with other images, but it looks best with these! As usual, get a base. I didn't do anything to it this time.

Make a Selective Color layer with these settings.
Reds: -100, -20, -10, +30
Yellows: 0, 0, +20, 0
Whites: 0, 0, 0, -60
Neutrals: 0, +5, +10, -10
Blacks: 0, 0, 0, +6
This should brighten up the reds a lot so the image isn't as dull. The blacks should be a little darker, too, and the whites should be more noticeable (:

The image is a little dark, so make a Curves layer.
Make one point and use these settings.
Input: 94, Output: 111
Now make another point.
Input: 119, Output: 136
The image should be brighter. If it's too bright/not bright enough, just change it to adjust to your image.

Make a Hue/Saturation layer with these settings.
Saturation: +10
This brings up the reds a little more (and the rest of the saturation in general).

Now, the last step: make a Channel Mixer layer.
Red: +110, -10, -4
Blue: +1, -20, +120
You're done!

Get your base ready, dudes. Mine is by valo_princess of Avril Lavigne. Get whatever image you want but this tutorial works best with any yellow/blond you want to stick out and/or red (: 'Kay. I duplicated my base once and set the copy to Soft Light 100%. Do whatever feels right, heh.

Make a color fill layer with #17000f. Set it to Screen 100%.

Let's make another color fill layer! Fill it with #8a6d80 - yay! Set it to Soft Light 100%.

Make a Hue/Saturation layer with these settings.
Master.
Saturation: +30
Yellows.
Saturation: +50

Now let's make a Selective Color layer! Whee!
Reds: 0, 0, +40, 0
Yellows: 0, 0, +100, 0
Whites: 0, 0, 0, -30
Blacks: 0, 0, 0, +10

Make a Curves layer on RGB.
Input: 130, Output: 149

Make 'nother Selective Color layer.
Reds: -100, +100, +100, -50
Yellows: 0, 0, +100, 0

'Kay. Now make a Channel Mixer layer.
Red: +90, +10, -8
Green: 0, +99, 0
Blue: 0, +10, +90

Now make a color fill layer with #000415 on Exclusion 100%.

This is my first fan mix! I decided to make it of The Princess Diaries since it's such an amazing book series. The fan mix is about how Mia left J.P. and went back to Michael. Most of these songs are about missing someone but others have different stories behind them, but I still think they fit into the Princess Diaries storyline. The EP title (You May Not Know It) comes from Michael's poem to Mia in book 3, Princess in Love. Sorry for the crappy covers, hehe!

Mini-Banner tutorial

How to make:

First, start out by picking one photoshoot with at least 3 pictures you want to use for your mini-banner. I chose three picture of Avril from Avril-Images.net.

Find a nice coloring or use your own. You'll use this one for two images so pick one that you'll be satisfied with. I chose one I made myself (if you want the tutorial, request it) for the first image of Avril, the second one from the left is the result. I placed it toward the end. Next I duplicated it and desaturated the duplicate. I used the Freeform Pen Tool to cut Avril out (not perfectly, as you can see). If you do not know how to use this tool, look below.
Once you locate the tool, make sure it is on Paths (above on Photoshop CS3). Click at the start point and drag it around the image as neatly as you can. Get the entire image or all you want to show, all around. Once you're done, let go and you'll see a neat-ish line around that image. Right-click on the image and choose "Make Selection..." and choose the Feather Radius as "0." Next go to Select>>Inverse and press delete on your keyboard. Then drag the image wherever you choose. Once you're done, you might want to go to Select>>Deselect. If you have any problems with this, feel free to ask.

I dragged the copy to the end and made it invisable (click the eye next to the layer).

Then I pasted the second image in, without any effect. I blended it using the Lasso Tool. If you don't know how to use the tool, look below.
I overlapped one image over the other so it's covering a little but nothing that I want for the second image (overlapping) is covering anything I want for the first image or the other way around. Then I choose the tool and set the feather (above on Photoshop) to 10. I select the area I want to be blended and hit delete on my keyboard. Then when I'm done, I go to Select>>Deselect. Any problems = ask away.
Then I made the duplicate of the first image (desaturated) visible again (click where the eye should be).

Next I pasted the last image. I put the same effect on it as the first. I blended it with the second (no effect) image (learn how to above).

Then I added text. I first added "avril lavigne." in color #e61d1e with 14pt Maszyna Plus font. Next I added "i won't be forgotten" with #471434 color and Pea Bonnie Script, size 18pt. I added "OMG-ITS-OLIVIA" to the side in 04b24, size 8pt with color #471434.

That's it! You're done! Hope you liked it. Feel free to ask questions or request the coloring tutorial/.psd!
