Asia’s Muslims – May 2026

Eid al-Adha, the three-day Feast of Sacrifice, is celebrated by Muslims around the world at the end of this month on 27th May. For Muslim people, the festival commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son, Ishmael, in obedience to Allah. Special prayers and the sacrificial offering of an animal are made during the festival, which also coincides with the end of the Hajj, the pilgrimage every able Muslim should make to Mecca in their lifetime. In the Qur’an, Jesus (Isa) is mentioned frequently, for example, ‘When Jesus came with Clear Signs, he said: “Now have I come to you with Wisdom therefore fear Allah and obey me.”’ (Sura 43:63). Praise God for the thousands of ministry partners that give sacrificially to see OMF’s ministry move forward. Pray that we can find great ways to affirm, encourage, thank, and disciple them in the new year. We’re excited to see 8 candidates in the final stages of application with the hopes of being appointed in November. Pray that we will complete the candidate stage well with interviews and training this month. This is part of the process for new missionaries to begin serving with OMF. Pray that God will bring us Engagement Coordinators for each of the Focus People Groups in Global Neighbors to lead our learning and engagement activities with these groups.
