Promptathons

As I said at the end of the last promptathon of 2018, I was going to give some consideration as to whether it was worth continuing to run promptathons four times a year as participation both in submitting prompts and stories had dropped to almost nothing.

I know it can't help when the comm owner no longer takes part in the promptathons (at least not as far as stories go) and I am sorry about that. For various reasons I haven't written in quite some time and sadly I don't see that changing in the immediate future.

Therefore, after a lot of thought I have decided that really there isn't any point in keeping the community going as far as doing regular promptathons go. The community will remain open and active and all past prompts will be available should members wish to write stories.

When aingeal8c and I started this comm back in 2007, things were a lot different both in terms of having a place dedicated to 'older' characters and in the number of people using LJ and writing and posting fanfic. That has changed considerably over the years and I honestly think it is time to call it a day.

It's a shame, but all good things come to an end and in terms of the life of some comms, this one has done amazingly well. Thirty-four promptathons in eleven years is pretty good going I would say.

I should like to thank everyone who has written stories, submitted prompts, submitted ideas for promptathons, read stories and generally supported this community.

Thank you.

Nikki

Prompt list for the thirty-fourth Older Not Dead Promptathon

Thank you for the submitted prompts for our thirty-fourth promptathon. Sadly, yet again we had very few indeed. I have added a handful of fandom/pairing free prompts, but the list of prompts is very short.

I think it's time to give serious thought to the future of this community and whether it is still viable or even desired any longer. I wouldn't delete the comm and all the prompts would still be available for use. But maybe it's time to end the four-times-a-year new promptathons. It's been great fun, but maybe the time has come to call it quits on new promptathons. I'll ponder it more.

DUE SOUTH
Fraser/RayK. RayK is a liar.

Ray/Ray. RayV finally tells RayK the truth about what happened to his GTO.

Fraser/?. Truth or Dare.

ANY FANDOM/ANY PAIRING
?. ?/?. Do you really want to know the truth?
?. ?/?. Don't lie to me.
?. ?/?. Just tell the truth.
?. ?/?. Lie to me.
?. ?/?. Lies damned lies and statistics
?. ?/?. Little white lies.
?. ?/?. Sometimes a lie is kinder than the truth.
?. ?/?. The truth hurts.
?. ?/?. The truth will set you free.
?. ?/?. The truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

A few general points:

Remember: The whole point of this Community is that it is 'Love for the over 40s'. Therefore it it imperative that EACH half of the pairing is 40+ in the story - it doesn't matter if they are 20, 30 or 45 in canon. in the story/piece of artwork they MUST be at least 40.

The prompts are broken down firstly by fandom and then into blocks within the fandom of specific pairings and no pairing/one half of the pairing and just prompts.

Where a pairing and a prompt is given you must use that pairing with the prompt.

Where only a prompt is given, you can use any pairing within the fandom.

What you may not do is to take a prompt from one fandom and use it for another. The prompt must be used within the specific fandom; and if a pairing is listed for that specific pairing.

The prompts under 'Any Fandom & Any Pairing' are just that. They don't have to be a fandom already listed; they can be any fandom at all.

You may write as many stories/produce as many pieces of artwork as you wish. There are no limits. And the same prompt can be used by multiple people - you do not have to claim a prompt. Just select the one(s) you like and write/make graphics.

The theme of this thirty-third promptathon is 'Summer'.

This promptathon begins on 1st of August and runs for the entire month of August.

Posting guidelines can be found here.

Previous prompts may not be used during the current promptathon. They will be available (along with the prompts from this promptathon) next month.

We look forward to the stories/artwork.

Happy writing and graphic-making!!!

Call for prompts for Promptathon 34

Well here we are at our fourth and final promptathon of 2018.

The theme for Promptathon 34 is:

TRUTH OR LIES

Is telling the truth always the best thing to do? Can a lie help a relationship? For good or for bad, truth and lies are both part of life and have an impact on relationships. Prompts can be entirely related to the truth or entirely related to lies. It's up to you.

For Challenge 34.

Please make sure, even if you have submitted prompts before that you read the 'PLEASE READ' part of this post to ensure you submit them in the correct way - it will save me a considerable amount of time and effort if you do so. Thank you kindly.

Please reply to this post with a list of prompts for writers/artists to use in their stories/artwork.

The prompts can be:

A fandom and a prompt, e.g. NCIS. ?/?. Dancing

A fandom, a character and a prompt, e.g. Due South. Fraser/?. Thinking about the future.

A fandom, a pairing and a prompt, e.g. The Professionals. Bodie/Doyle. A surprise from the past.

Just a prompt (i.e. suitable for any fandom/pairing) e.g. ?. ?/?. Flowers

And you can mix and match when submitting, or just submit one type. Also, you can submit single word prompts or a couple of words or a few words or a sentence - just don't make them too long or detailed, i.e. not an entire plot.

PLEASE READ

Please submit the prompts in the format detailed above, i.e. use the ? to fill the 'blank' spaces and also put the full stop between the 'sections'. This will make it easier for us when we are sorting the prompts. Please don't use dashes or commas or a mixture, it makes life very hard when we're putting together the list of prompts. Please just use full-stops between the sections. Also don't just put the fandom at the top of a list of prompts.

Any prompts not submitted in the correct way will not be included - I'm sorry, but I've asked nicely so many times and yet still people keep on submitting them in different ways. I rarely get tough, I don't want to stifle people, but it takes long enough to compile the master list, I really don't have the time (or indeed the patience any longer) to have to sort out the wrongly submitted prompts. Thank you for understanding.

Please also submit them in 'blocks'. For example if you are submitting prompts for more than one pairing, please keep all the prompts for Pairing A together and all the prompts for Pairing B together - they can all go into the same comment, but it's easier for us when putting the list together if we don't jump back and forth between pairings.

Please also do not use 'in' fandom abbreviations for the name of the fandom. Remember, this is a multi-fandom challenge and whilst it might be obvious to you what the 'in' term is, it's not necessarily going to be thus to Aingeal and myself.

The same applies to squished pairing names, please DO NOT use terms like Gabby or Spander type of thing, again, we won't necessarily know what they mean. (I sometimes get lost in my main fandom when squished up names are used *g*).

Thank you for your help with this.

To remind you:

This is a multi-fandom, multi-pairing challenge for slash or het couples (not gen).

Artwork (e.g. wallpaper, icons, banners, etc.) based on the prompts is perfectly acceptable.

The theme for the thirty-fourth promptathon is 'Truth or Lies'.

Each half of the pair has to be 40+ in the story/artwork, i.e. it doesn't matter if they are under 40 in canon, as long as in the story they are 40 or over.

You do not need to be a writer/intend to write a story/produce a piece of art for this challenge to submit prompts.

You will be able to use your own prompt.

You may submit as many or as few prompts as you wish.

Please feel free to pimp this on your own LJ or in communities if you wish to do so.

You may submit prompts up to the end of the 28th October (although in reality this will be first thing on the 29th UK time to allow for time differences).

Posting of stories/artwork for the Promptathon will begin on 1st November and you have the entire month of November in which to post.

During November you may not post stories from past prompts.

I want to thank this comm for the August promptathon and also explain why I'm not posting the fic (yet) that this promptathon inspired. Requiem Publications has expressed interest in making this fic a part of their upcoming due South Fraser/Kowalski slash zine, and for it to be considered it has to be unposted, and if selected has to remain unposted for one year.

Due South. Frannie/Turnbull. A summer day on the Lake Michigan beach.

TITLE: The Perfect Moment
AUTHOR: Love_jackianto
FANDOM: Due South
CHARACTERS: Ante, Maria and Pop
PAIRING: Frannie/Turnbull
GENRE: Het
PROMPT: Frannie/Turnbull. A summer day on the Lake Michigan beach.
RATING: G
WORD COUNT: 1,647
SUMMARY: While at the beach, Frannie waits for the perfect moment
WARNINGS:
NOTES: Also here at AO3
DISCLAIMER: I don't own these characters, nor am I making any money from them. I merely borrow them from time to time.

Frannie stood in her room and looked into the full length mirror before her. She patted her flat stomach. She was wearing a yellow and blue polka dot bikini and it hugged her curves. She had to admit that even though she was in her forties, she was still knocking the bikini. Ante came up next to her and looked at the polka dot bows in her fur that matched Frannie’s bikini.

Frannie smiled as she looked down at her giant poodle. ‘Looking good, Ante.’

Ante barked and maybe Fraser had rubbed off on Frannie (not nearly in the way she would have liked) but she thought she knew what Ante was saying.

‘Yeah, I’m sure Rennie will like it to.’

Just thinking about her boyfriend made Frannie smile. She had finally gotten her Mountie.

She glanced over at the small box sitting on her dresser. She picked it up and turned it around in her hands. She had often thought about giving the contents of the box to Rennie, but she kept waiting for the perfect moment that never happened. Maybe she was being a romantic, but the perfect moment had to happen sooner or later.

She hope it was sooner. She put the box in her beach bag.

She collected her beach bag and floppy hat and walked to Maria’s room. Maria was laying in bed surrounded by used tissues and a hot water bottle was sitting on her chest. Frannie’s nose wrinkled as she caught a whiff of sickness. The room was dark and quite. A bowl of Ma’s chicken noodle soup sat untouched on the bedside table.

‘How you feeling, sis?’

Maria coughed. ‘Still sick. Are you sure you want to take Lilly to the beach today? She’s quite the hand full.’

‘I’m sure I’ll be fine. Rennie is coming with us and I’m sure the three of us can handle her.’

Ante barked in agreement.

‘I hope so. At least Tony is watching the other kids while they’re sick too.’

Frannie rolled her eyes. ‘Yeah, he’s a real prince.’

If Tony couldn’t hold down a job than it really was the least he could do. Of course Frannie’s ex husband hadn’t even lasted through his first and last family dinner. It really was for the best. She always thought she would end up with a guy like Pop and she had hated it.

Maybe that was why she had fallen so hard for Fraser, he was the exact opposite of Pop. It didn’t hurt that he had movie star good looks.

She patted Maria on the shoulder and walked out of the room.

When she walked down to the living room, she saw Lilly laying on the floor drawing and surrounded by brightly coloured crayons. She was already wearing her bright pink bathing suit and her hair was in pigtails.

‘What you making?’ Frannie asked as she knelt down and looked at Lilly’s scribbles.

Lilly looked up at her with big green eyes. ‘It’s a picture of Ante. Do you like it?’

Frannie held the picture in her hands. It looked less like Anti and more like scribbles, but Lilly didn’t need to know that. Pop had always hated Frannie’s pictures when she was a kid ‘I love it! Let’s hang it on the frig while we wait for Rennie.’

Lilly ran to the kitchen with her drawing.

Frannie heard a knock on the door and grinned when she opened it and saw Rennie standing in front of her. He was bare chested and wearing colourful swimming trucks. His dark hair was streaked with gray.

She had to admit that she spent a lot of time running her fingers through his hair. Of course, that wasn’t nearly as fun as kissing his body; his skin was soft and smooth. There must have been something in the Canadian water that made the Mounties so good looking.

He kissed Frannie and his lips were smooth and tasted like strawberry Chapstick. He pulled her close. She caught his scent; a combination of shampoo, soap and lilac.

After several moments because as much as she would like to they couldn’t spend all day kissing.

‘Hello, Frannie are you and Lilly ready to go to the beach?’

‘Yeah! Shake and arm, Lilly! It’s time to go!’ Frannie yelled.

Lilly came running out of the kitchen and ran up to Rennie. He picked her up easily and hugged her as she wrapped her arms around his neck.

Frannie just smiled as Rennie smiled and Lilly laughed. She had never met anyone who was so good with kids as Rennie. Maybe that was because he was childlike in many ways. She still remembered the Christmas party were he was Assassin Santa. Of course he was all man in the bedroom and that was what really counted.

Rennie sat Lilly down and Ante came up to him he knelt down and ran his finger through her curly white fur.

‘Who’s my second favorite girl? Who is it?’ He cooed at Ante.

Ante’s tail wagged and her pink tongue lolled out of her mouth.

Frannie just smiled because she knew that she was his first favorite girl.

‘Do you like her new bows?’ Frannie asked.

Rennie stood up. ‘Oh, yes. They are as fetching as your bikini. Now, let’s get going to the beach.’

They walked out of the Vecchio household and made their way to Rennie’s car. It was small, bright orange Bug. Frannie called it the pumpkin car.

Rennie held the car door open for Frannie and she didn’t think she would even get used to Rennie being such a gentlemen; it must have been a Canadian thing.

Once they were all in car, Rennie drove the road. The sky was bright blue and clear and it was hot; perfect beach weather.

Rennie put in one of Lilly’s favorite cassettes and they spend the ride singing Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds.

Once they were at the beach Frannie grabbed her stuff out of the car and they all went down to the beach. Frannie laid out a Micky Mouse beach towel and Rennie set up a beach umbrella.

‘Will you put sunscreen on my back? It is always better to be cautious when skin cancer is involved.’

‘Sure lay down.’

She reached into her bag and took out a bottle of sunscreen. She rubbed the thick lotion onto Rennie’s back. His back was pale and covered with freckles. She had once tried to count all his freckles, but had had to stop when he kept giggling.

Once she was finished applying the sunscreen, Rennie sat up.

‘Thank you.’

Frannie grinned. ‘Don’t mention it. You going to hit the lake?’

‘Actually I was hoping that Lilly would help me build a sandcastle,’ Rennie said to Lilly who was digging in the sand as Ante watched on.

Lilly grinned. ‘Yah! Can we build a huge castle, Uncle Ren?!’

‘As big as you want it. Why don’t you take your bucket down to the water and get bring back some water. You can’t have a sandcastle without wet sand.’

Lilly picked up her bucket.

‘Hold it. You need sunscreen,’ Frannie said to Lilly.

Lilly wrinkled her nose. ‘Really?! I’ll be quick.’

‘So will I.’

Once Lilly had had sunscreen put on, Frannie let her run down to the water.

Frannie laid down on the towel under the beach umbrella and pulled a romance novel out of her bag, she tried to not look at the little box sitting on the bottom of her bag, and began to read.

As Rennie and Lilly built a sandcastle, Frannie read about a pirate that fell in love with a busty sea wench.

After a while, Lilly came up to Frannie. ‘Look! Look! Look at the sandcastle, Aunt Frannie!’

Frannie looked over at the sandcastle and it was impressive. It was about half as tall as Lilly and it even had a moat and drew bridge. Little pebbles lined the top like little jewels.

‘Very nice.’

‘I’ve got an idea. Why don’t we go into the water and wash the sand off,’ Rennie said to Lilly.

Rennie held Lilly’s hand as the walked down to the water. Frannie grinned as Ante snored at her feet.

‘Did you have to pick a weird Canadian?’ Pop asked from where he popped out of nowhere next to Frannie.

To Frannie’s credit she didn’t even bat an eyelid at her dead father showing up. It wouldn’t be the first time.

‘What’s that supposed to mean?’

‘I’m just saying that he doesn’t look like the kind of guy who could protect you if something happened. He looks like the kind to cry like a little girl.’

She rolled her eyes. ‘Like you would know anything about protecting your family. Most of the time Ray had to protect me from you.’

‘Hey, you should show me some respect,’ Pop said with anger in his voice.

‘That’s exactly what I’m talking about.’

Pop disappeared and Frannie just smiled. She was right and Pop knew it.

Rennie and Lilly came up to Frannie and Frannie couldn’t look away from Rennie. He was grinning and his blue eyes were shinning. The crow’s feet around his eyes were deep. Water droplets cling to his pale skin and sunlight made the gray in his hair shine like silver.

This was it. This was moment Frannie had been waiting for. She took the small box out of her bag and opened it revealing a wedding ring. She got down on one knee. It might not be traditional, but Frannie was a 90’s girl.

‘Renfield Turnbull will you do my the honor of being my husband? Frannie asked as she presented the ring to Rennie.

Rennie started to cry but he still managed to nod.

Frannie always thought she would end up with a guy like Pop, but she was so glad that Rennie was nothing like Pop.

Call for prompts for Promptathon 33

I can't believe we are half way through July already and thus onto our third promptathon of 2018.

The theme for Promptathon 33 is:

SUMMER

I hate it (as do others), however many people love it. Thus it seemed only fair to have a summer time promptathon devoted to 'summer'.

Prompts must in some way relate to summer. Hot weather. Sunshine. Going to the beach. Fans. Summer festivals. Heatwave. Water shortages. Too hot. Not hot enough. Summer flowers. Summer trees. Swimming in the sea. Summer weddings. Summers that disappoint. Summer holidays. Summer food. Barbeques. Summer romance. Etc. Etc. In fact anything at all which pertains to summer.

For Challenge 33.

The theme for the thirty-second promptathon is 'Summer'.

You may submit prompts up to the end of the 28th July (although in reality this will be first thing on the 29th UK time to allow for time differences).

Posting of stories/artwork for the Promptathon will begin on 1st August and you have the entire month of August in which to post.

During August you may not post stories from past prompts.

He carefully watched his lover’s expression from the other side of the flickering candlelight.

Hank reached his hand behind his head and scratched some of his blue fuzz. Bobby knew he’d been putting off telling him something, and he was beginning to worry exactly what that something might be. The thought of Hank leaving the team yet again nagged at the back of his mind, but he pushed it away again, determined to wait to overreact until after Hank had actually told him what was going on.

Hank brought his claws slowly down around the curve of his face. Finally, he met Bobby’s gaze and slowly took off his glasses. Laying them on the blue blanket between them, he spoke softly, “Do you remember when you asked me if I do not also have regrets?”

Bobby’s heart thudded hard in his chest. That was not at all what he had expected tonight’s conversation to be about! He looked around them swiftly, wondering how Hank could have brought them here to Make Out Mountain so late in the night if he wanted to break up with him. His panic must have reached his eyes, because Hank sighed softly. “Of course I have regrets, Robert. I -- “

“Don’t say it,” Bobby blurted out. He rolled to his knees but stumbled as he tried to get to his feet. “Don’t say it!”

“Bobby, what -- ?! What on Earth do you think I am going to say?!”

“That you regret me, this -- “ Bobby gestured frantically with a hand.

Hank caught his hand as he waved through the air. He yanked him down into his lap and wrapped his strong arms around him to where Bobby had no choice but to still his mad motions to escape and look up at him. “Never,” Hank vowed in his deep, soft, and rich voice, “will I regret loving you and being loved by you.” He sealed his vow with a passionate kiss, then sighed softly again as he slowly raised his head from Bobby’s. “Darling, I know I’ve ran from us in the past, but that’s not what this is about.”

“It’s . . . not?” Bobby asked breathlessly, but already, after Hank’s kiss had assuaged his fears, he knew that whatever his beloved regretted it could not possibly be being with him any longer. He would never have kissed him as he just had -- so passionately and beautifully -- if he regretted being with him. He waved a hand as the temperature around them dropped. “Then what . . . “

“I could not admit to this fact back at the school,” Hank explained, his voice so quiet that it was almost as if he feared being overheard even way out here almost on the other side of town, “without risking being overheard. There is hardly any secret that is spoken of there, no matter how softly or silently, that is not the big news traveling quickly among the gossipers the next day.”

“That’s true,” Bobby admitted, a grin tugging at the corners of his mouth. “I still remember the first night Warren caught us sneaking back into school. He claimed he wouldn’t tell anybody, but Jean read it from his mind. By Monday morning, everybody knew.”

Hank chuckled. “Yes, and I still vividly recall that lecture the Professor gave us.”

“We should’ve seen then that he had the hots for Mags.” Bobby’s laughter almost turned to a giggle.

“I only wish things had ended better for them -- “

“Things will end better for us,” Bobby vowed, reaching up and caressing Hank’s furry cheek. “We’ll never run from our feelings again, or from each other. We will have the happiness they denied themselves.”

“Yes,” Hank agreed readily. He turned his head and placed a kiss in Bobby’s palm where it still cupped his face.

“So what’s worrying you so much, Big Blue?”

“It’s not something that’s . . . worrying me, persay, Robert, but it is nonetheless something I very much regret.”

“And what is that?”

Heaving another sigh, Hank waved a hand at himself. “Every permanent change that I have made to myself. My younger self may be dabbling in dark magics, but I -- “ His voice dropped to a hushed, almost strangled whisper. “I made a monster out of myself.”

“Hey, I like you blue and furry!”

“Perhaps,” Hank replied, “but I can never walk down the street with you in broad daylight, Robert. I can never allow the world to see me as I truly am when we are out together. They always have to see an acceptable vision, an image of the man I could have been, the man I should have been had I not been experimenting upon myself like a fool -- “

“Hey,” Bobby interjected, again lovingly caressing his furry cheek, “it doesn’t matter what they think they see. It doesn't matter if they see you or not. I know the man I love, and the man I love is sexier than their little minds can ever conceive.”

“Bobby -- “ Hank said and chuckling, a small smile playing over his lips.

“Hey, I mean it! You make blue look damn sexy, and fur’s never been more in than the way you and Kurt wear it.”

“Robert!”

“I don’t have a thing for the Elf,” Bobby clarified with a roll of his brown eyes. “All I’m saying, Hank, is look at how many women flock to him. You’re so worried about how you look. He’s blue, furry, and looks like a Demon, but he can’t keep the babes off of him! And you’re way sexier! Comparing you to him is like . . . like . . . “ He searched his mind for an analogy. “Comparing Jonah Hill to Johnny Depp.”

“I recognize Mister Depp -- “

“You and every person in this whole city!”

“But the other -- “

“Let’s just say there is no comparison. You’re a twenty. He’s a . . . a three, maybe a five.” Bobby lifted a shoulder in a shrug. “There’s no comparison. You’ve got him beat, paws, hands, and whiskers down.”

The blue fur covering Hank’s handsome face darkened in a subtle way Bobby knew meant he was blushing. “It goes deeper than that, though,” he said with a soft sigh.

“What?” Bobby asked, searching his eyes. “What is it, Hank? You know you can tell me anything -- “

“We’re growing old, Robert,” Hank whispered, reaching for his discarded spectacles. “And with age comes the weariness of the body, if not the mind.”

“Your mind will never grow that weary,” Bobby whispered, placing a hand over Hank’s as he went to pick up his glasses. He searched his eyes. “Are you telling me you’re having trouble seeing?”

Hank inclined his head in a gentle, single nod. “I am beginning to -- “ he confessed.

“Doesn’t matter,” Bobby said with a quick, denying shake of his head.

“It matters to me,” Hank argued lightly. “I like being able to see without these,” he said, lifting the spectacles but then leaving them on the blanket. His hand lifted and took Bobby’s instead; their fingers entwined together. He brought his hand to his mouth and kissed it gently before leaning back and looking up at the night sky far above them. “I used to enjoy sitting on the rooftop of my childhood home and watching what I could see of the stars.”

“I remember several nights where you showed me the constellations here,” Bobby whispered softly.

“Yes, and all without my glasses.”

Bobby shrugged. “Even you need help sometimes, Blue. I can be your eyes, if it ever gets that bad.”

“I fear it may, and it’s all because of the experiments I continue to be inane enough to perform upon myself.”

“Shit,” slipped out of Bobby’s mouth before he could stop it. “Hank, what have you been doing?”

“I’ve been trying to reverse these latest mutations, Bobby. I do not want to become nothing more than a big cat.”

“You will always be far more than whatever your mutant form suggests,” Bobby argued, and it was clear he’d picked up some words from Hank along the course of their life together. “You’ll never just be a beast, or a cat. You will always be a hero. You’ll always be a genius who makes Albert Einstein look stupid.”

“Hardly -- “

“You’ll always be my hero and the man I love,” Bobby continued before Hank could argue, “and if one day, you need someone to be your eyes, I am your eyes. I am whatever you need me to be.” He kissed him. “Always.” He kissed him again, longer this time and deeper, and when they parted, he leaned back against Hank’s furry, broad, and muscular body and began to point at the sky. “There,” he said, “is Sirius.” Pointing at another part of the dark, night sky, he added, “And the Big Dipper.” His finger changed direction again. “Followed by the Little Dipper.”

“Followed . . . ,” Hank purred, bringing Bobby’s hand down with his own and kissing it again. He licked each finger in turn. “ . . . by me . . . loving you.”

“Always,” Bobby confirmed and, turning in his arms, proceeded to kiss him long, deep, and passionately until the only stars that mattered to either of them were the ones they saw shining beautifully in each other’s loving eyes.

The End

The theme of this thirty-second promptathon is 'Help'.

This promptathon begins on 1st May and runs for the entire month of May.

Posting guidelines can be found here.

Previous prompts may not be used during the current promptathon. They will be available (along with the prompts from this promptathon) next month.

We look forward to the stories/artwork.

Happy writing and graphic-making!!!

Call for prompts for Promptathon 32

Sincere apologies for vanishing without a trace at the end of the previous promptathon. I moved house and was without access to the internet for quite some time, plus the whole process has been exhausting, thus I have barely been online for several weeks. In fact it is only in the last few days that I am beginning to get back to any degree of normality.

So with no further ado, here we are, on our second promptathon of 2018.

The theme for Promptathon 32 is:

HELP

Everyone needs help with something at some time - even if they don't like to admit it. People generally like to help others. Prompts can be about helping someone or about asking for help - or indeed both.

For Challenge 32..

The theme for the thirty-second promptathon is 'Help'.

You may submit prompts up to the end of the 28th April (although in reality this will be first thing on the 29th UK time to allow for time differences).

Posting of stories/artwork for the Promptathon will begin on 1st May and you have the entire month of May in which to post.

During May you may not post stories from past prompts.

Prompt list for the thirty-first Older Not Dead Promptathon

We had very few prompts this time, I'm sorry to say. Nonetheless, thank you to the person who kindly submitted some. I have added a few 'Any Fandom/Any Pairing' prompts, so hopefully there will be something to tickle your muse. I apologise in advance for my less than stellar prompts my prompt muse was not co-operating today.

STAR WARS
Chirrut Imwe/Baze Malbus. Bad language.

Leia Organa/Amilyn Holdo. One good day.
Leia Organa/Amilyn Holdo. No good deed goes unpunished.

THE EXORCIST (TV)
Marcus Keane/Peter Osborne. Good coffee.
Marcus Keane/Peter Osborne. "You do not have to be good."

ANY FANDOM/ANY PAIRING
?. ?/?. Bad hair day.
?. ?/?. Bad lover.
?. ?/?. Bad manners.
?. ?/?. Bad things happen to good people.
?. ?/?. Good or bad; you're stuck with me.
?. ?/?. Good food; good wine; good company. What more can one ask for?
?. ?/?. Good girl/boy gone bad.
?. ?/?. Good sex.
?. ?/?. Good things happen to bad people.
?. ?/?. Good times are ahead.
?. ?/?. "Have a good life."
?. ?/?. "I could be bounded in a nutshell and count myself a king of infinite space, were it not that I have bad dreams."
?. ?/?. In bad times.
?. ?/?. In good times.
?. ?/?. In front of the fire with a good film.
?. ?/?. No one can be that good.
?. ?/?. "Sometimes... things that are more expensive... are worse."
?. ?/?. Taking the good with the bad.
?. ?/?. The terms 'good' and 'bad' are only a matter of opinion.
?. ?/?. There's no such thing as a bad book.
?. ?/?. This is as good as it gets.
?. ?/?. What's the worst that can happen?

The theme of this thirty-first promptathon is 'Good or Bad'.

This promptathon begins on 1st February and runs for the entire month of February.

Posting guidelines can be found here.

Previous prompts may not be used during the current promptathon. They will be available (along with the prompts from this promptathon) next month.

We look forward to the stories/artwork.

Happy writing and graphic-making!!!

Call for prompts for Promptathon 31

Here we are, on our first promptathon of 2018 - I do hope it is a good year for everyone.

The theme for Promptathon 31 is:

GOOD OR BAD

Good things happen in people's lives as do bad things. Sometimes things we think will be bad turn out to be good and vice versa. Prompts can be entirely related to something good or entirely related to something bad. It's up to you.

For Challenge 31.

The theme for the thirty-first promptathon is 'Good or Bad'.

You may submit prompts up to the end of the 28th January (although in reality this will be first thing on the 29th UK time to allow for time differences).

Posting of stories/artwork for the Promptathon will begin on 1st February and you have the entire month of February in which to post.

During February you may not post stories from past prompts.

Good morning beloved
?. ?/?. Goodbye my love
?. ?/?. Love doesn’t solve everything
?. ?/?. Loving you isn’t easy
?. ?/?. Loving you was the best thing I ever did

The theme of this thirtieth promptathon is 'Love'.

This promptathon begins on 1st November and runs for the entire month of November.

Posting guidelines can be found here.

Previous prompts may not be used during the current promptathon. They will be available (along with the prompts from this promptathon) next month.

We look forward to the stories/artwork.

Happy writing and graphic-making!!!

Call for prompts for Promptathon 30

Here we are on our final promptathon of 2017 and it's promptathon 30!

That's rather good going I feel, and whilst the comm isn't as busy for the most part these days as in earlier days, it does still seem to be relevant and people do still seem to enjoy 'Love for the over 40s'.

So with that in mind I have decided to 'end' 2017 on a loving note:

The theme for Promptathon 30 is:

LOVE

All prompts MUST include the word 'love' be it as itself or part of a longer word 'lovely' 'loved' 'loving' 'beloved'.

The love can be the love of ones partner. The love of trees. The love of a composer. The love for a type of food. The love of a country. The love of a culture. It can be romantic love. It can be physical love. It can be both.

Whatever kind of love you want to show let us just ensure the last promptathon of 2017 is a positive and loving one.

NB. Yes, I do remember we have had Love/Hate as a prompt. However, this is different as it is all about love and you have to include the word in the prompt.

For Challenge 30.

Please, please, please make sure, even if you have submitted prompts before that you read the 'PLEASE READ' part of this post to ensure you submit them in the correct way - it will save me a considerable amount of time and effort if you do so.

PLEASE READ

Please, please, please submit the prompts in the format detailed above, i.e. use the ? to fill the 'blank' spaces and also put the full stop between the 'sections'.

The theme for the thirtieth promptathon is 'Love'.
