How we change lives...

EDUCATION

The Education Program is approved by the Oklahoma State Department of Education. State-certified teachers run all classes.

Inmates who need basic schooling can take reading, writing, and Adult Basic Education (ABE) classes. High school programs are also available.

Many students keep learning while in custody. Some go on to earn associate and bachelor’s degrees before release.

VOCATIONAL TRAINING

Vocational programs give inmates a chance to learn job skills before returning to the community. A range of technical training classes are offered across the state. These programs are available at many facilities and at different security levels.

OKLAHOMA CORRECTIONAL INDUSTRIES

Oklahoma Correctional Industries, or OCI, gives offenders jobs in correctional industries programs. The skills they learn help them return to the community with success.

OCI runs 13 sites across Oklahoma with 18 factories. On average, OCI employs 1,200 offenders.

RELIGIOUS SERVICES

Religious Services
Faith plays an important role in corrections.

Religious Services include meetings for worship and religious learning. Bible studies are one common example.

Faith Based Programs are classes led by volunteers. These programs look at certain issues through a faith lens. Examples include classes on behavior skills, family relationships, or substance abuse.

SUBSTANCE ABUSE TREATMENT

Substance Abuse Treatment, or SAT, is a program for inmates who need help with drug or alcohol problems. The program lasts from four to twelve months.

SAT uses a behavior-based approach. It teaches people ways to avoid substance abuse. The program focuses on building skills. These activities help improve thinking, social, emotional, and coping skills.

The Regimented Treatment Program (RTP) and Helping Women Recover (HWR) are part of Substance Abuse Treatment.

WORK RELEASE OPPORTUNITIES

ODOC Community Corrections offers work release to inmates who qualify. This program helps inmates prepare for reentry and return to the community with success. Work release lets approved inmates hold a job in the community before they finish their sentence.

Inmates in this program are housed in Oklahoma City, Union City, Lawton, Enid, and Vinita.

If you want to hire eligible inmates for your business, please fill out the contact form below.

VOLUNTEER SERVICES

The Oklahoma Department of Corrections values a strong partnership with its volunteers. This partnership is key to meeting the agency’s mission.

Volunteers help improve inmate programs and services. Their work also gives the public a better understanding of corrections and the issues we face.

DONATION OPPORTUNITIES

The Oklahoma Department of Corrections cannot use state funds to purchase religious materials.  If you would like to make a donation to support faith-based activities please contact the Agency Chaplain or a facility chaplain.
