Well I purchased this on the advise of another long range angler out of San Diego almost two years ago. I pulled it out this past July fishing on the drop for large Blue Fins of of San Diego on a 1.5 day trip and a 3 day trip in August. The largest blue fin I pulled in was 171 lbls on the drop at night at 250 to 300 feet. I had 100 pound braid on this rig with a 7 foot seeker rod. 45 minutes after hook up she came to gaf! I cranked down on the drag 80 plus percent of max and let her run maybe 200 yards and she ran back towards the boat. The line retrieval was smooth and excellent and I put the reel into low gear and pulled for the next 20 minutes until we saw color. I never backed and the tuna made two more small runs. She came to color and it took another 10 minutes to gaf. Highly recommend for the money may consider going to upgraded ball bearings mine is in for this now.

I bought this rod to do land based shark fishing. I fish central Florida on the Atlantic side. I have caught lots of sharks on this rod. I have had it for almost 2 years now. I am going to buy another one soon. I paired this rod with a Penn SQL50VSW and 120 lbs kastking braid. Good set up for less than $600.
