O'Donovan's is a multi-room American restaurant and pub tucked into the Irving Park neighborhood that doubles as an atmospheric local hangout with plenty of character. Its setup makes it a comfortable spot for casual meals, weekend brunches, or relaxed evenings with friends, especially if you want to linger into the later hours when the place tends to fill with a livelier crowd.

The ambience is anything but generic. Inside, you’ll find cozy corners along with quirky décor that often reflects seasonal themes—Halloween fans, in particular, appreciate the elaborate setups that transform the space into an immersive experience. The layout with several rooms creates distinct vibes, so whether you want to have an intimate dinner or join a louder group beside the bar, there’s space to fit your mood.

Food leans into approachable American pub fare with a few elevated twists. Burgers like the classic Kobe or Wagyu options, including one with blue cheese, are reliably juicy and thoughtfully seasoned, though some prefer their burger cooked a bit closer to medium rare than what’s sometimes served. The Infamous Giant Pretzel is a handy snack that pairs well with their solid draft beer selection—Stella Artois and seasonal ciders often flow freely here, especially during the weekday happy hour where $5 draft pints make an easy pit stop for after-work crowds.

Wraps and salads offer lighter yet fresh alternatives, with fillings like grilled or Cajun chicken and various fresh veggies that reveal a kitchen down to basics but attentive enough to balance flavors. Brunch draws locals looking for classics like Avocado Toast or Mini Waffles spiked with a variety of toppings, making for a laid-back weekend treat. Cocktails, including a noteworthy Espresso Martini and Bloody Marys, bring a fun, well-crafted boost to the mix while bartenders keep things moving quickly with a friendly, unpretentious style.

This spot feels well-suited to a mix of locals who come in casually—the regulars taking advantage of happy hour deals, groups celebrating seasonal holidays, or visitors drawn by the building’s inviting curb appeal and multitude of rooms to explore. The service strikes a balance between relaxed and efficient, matching the overall vibe of a spot where you can settle in without feeling rushed.

Overall, O'Donovan's is best for those who appreciate a classic neighborhood pub atmosphere with a local twist, something that fits neatly into the rhythm of Irving Park’s social life—whether you’re stopping in for a quick lunch, a thoughtful dinner with drinks, or a cozy weekend brunch.

Great cocktails, good food and fun atmosphere. Food is always pretty quick to come out and service is always good. Also love the close-up magic on days when they have it!

Fun with great curb appeal, the vibe drew us in after passing a few times. Service is relaxed and efficient. Drinks were generous pours. The regular burger (+ Blue Cheese) was good, not crazy-good, but still inhaled the whole thing. Janes Grilled chicken wrap was ok, but I would love to try the crispy one. I think a crunchy texture would be really good. Their salads looked amazing. They have a grilled pear and gorgonzola salad that was beautiful as well as very tasty. The atmosphere on the patio was awesome (currently, the inside half of the restaurant is open weekends only). Two full right-angle walls sport several glass garage door openings that are irresistible on a nice day & reveal fun, eclectic decor. It was not super loud and echo-y so we could enjoy the meal, hear each others words but still pick up the laughing camaraderie buzz coming from other tables. All in all, it's a great vibe.

Our party of six did not order food..only drinks, so I can't rate that. However, as a favorite Halloween fan in life, this place is amazing. Rooms and rooms of decor and spooky things. Bartenders were so busy. Other rooms, once we explored were busy, and some empty, but ready for the late night visitors. I explored everywhere. Staff is all fun and ready to help. There are so many rooms to this place and the decor is fun. Go check them out! I bet Halloween night is a blast there. I am attaching photos.

Nice little sports bar. We weren't there during an event, so not sure about the crowd or noise level during busy times. It was pleasant for a lunch spot. The food was good. We had the spinach artichoke dip for an appetizer. The chips were a little overdone, but the flavor of the dip made it okay. I requested my burger be medium rare, and it came out darker than medium. It tasted okay, but it might have been better if cooked as ordered.

Great local bar. Good choice of draft beers and their classic burger is very juicy and well seasoned. My son was very satisfied. I personally love the crunchy fries We dine in very often. Also take advantage of their happy hour 5$ draft pints Monday thru Friday 12-5pm You are welcome!

Hands down the best sports bars in the area. Been going to Odonovans for nearly 25 years and it's never disappointed. So many special memories with friends and family! The burgers are awesome, but to be honest, I still haven't found anything on the menu that I didn't like! Plenty of drink options, lots of different seating areas, TVs galore, friendly staff and bartenders, and the decorations are always on point for every holiday and special event (Frankie is a wizard)! If you've never been, it's definitely worth checking out. Great spot for before or after Cubs games as well with it being just far enough to avoid huge crowds, but not too far that you couldn't get there in about 10-15 minutes. Really can't recommend Odonovans anymore than I already have!

We went there to celebrate 50th!!!! work anniversary of our coworker! Very spacious restaurant with two large dining areas and nice bar. They serve good burgers (that’s what my coworkers had and were very happy with) and I took a veg salad. On top of that root beer and celebration desert for our main guest! It was great time to be there!

Outstanding Irish Pub in Chicago! The pub fare is fantastic, the service is wonderful, and the Guinness was superb! A must visit if you want drinks and delicious pub fare!
