I am SO ready to be back at school. SO READY. I feel like I've...accomplished? everything I wanted to over break, I've got in my quota of chill time, and now it's just a waiting game. Not too much waiting left at this point, I go back Saturday (yay!) but still I am antsyyyy.

I really need to find one more class to take this semester. I'm currently registered for 13 hours, but I'm no longer an art major and I REALLY don't want to take this 3D-sculpture class I'm in. I have to have 12 hours so I need to find another 3-hour class to make up for this one I'm going to drop. I'm trying to get into this Pre-War Japanese Culture class taught by the hippie prof of the Asian Studies department...I've never talked my way into a class before but here's hoping I don't chicken out (it's not like it's hard, I'm just terrified of many social situations). If I can't get that class I NEED ANOTHER and I'm having trouble finding one. I don't want to take another language class because I don't want to deal with any more group projects than I'm already going to be doing in Japanese.

So what shall I do today? I've finished my books I was going to read. Perhaps spin yarn and play Mario...typical. Grrrrr I want to see my friends and my boyfriend NOW. >_

I really enjoyed Kirby's Epic Yarn, still trying to 100% it though. Super Mario Galaxy is frustrating me a bit. I'll probably be able to beat it, but I dunno about 100%ing it. I want to though, I wanna play as Luigi because he is my favorite. :[ He does not get enough love, no way.

Must get back to my reading though! Since getting my games I've been doing a decent job of rationing my time between reading and games. Yesterday I did neither though! The past few days I've been staying up and getting up later for some reason, and that's kind of been making me feel a bit blah...it's a self-perpetuating cycle, sadly. I have to read extra much today! Gotta finish dis book. It's a good'n.

Just 4 more days until I go back! I can doooo this.

I've got a serious case of the winter break/end of the year/missing boyfriend blues. It just hit me this past hour like a ton of bricks. I want to go curl up and cry for no reason at all, and I'm pretty sure I'm not hormonal. It's too dark and cold in this house. I need someone who is not my parents to come here and cheer me up. I need a snuggle like nobody's business.

I still have a whole week here. :[ I'm not as bored and itching to get back to school as I was last year, I have plenty to do, it's just this time around I wish I had my person here to hold.

I also think it doesn't help that I was up until 4 AM chatting about my insecurities, got woken up early, couldn't get back to sleep, and have had a headache all day. I'm going to try to go take a nap now. Hopefully later this evening I will feel like reading my book.

HEYYY CHRISTMAS was cool.

All I asked for was a Wii (specifically the red one, because I'd been wanting a Wii for a while and then they came out with the red one and I was like DUDE GET ME THAT ONE), which I got. Her name is Ginger. I never got a Wii before mainly because I couldn't see myself playing it all that much, and also I knew my parents probably wouldn't get it for me. (Back when I had a job I probably could have bought it, but I didn't have the interest at the time. I was buying YARN and DS GAMES) My interest has grown in the past year or so ESPECIALLY after seeing this year's Nintendo E3 press conference...KIRBY'S EPIC YARN and also Skyward Sword of course! NEED WII. And now I has Wii! I've been playing New Super Mario Bros a lot and I SUCK SO BAD. ;_; Going out tomorrow to buy more games and a controller. Wooo.

However in addition to that my mother got me a framed print of Gromit (you know, Wallace and Gromit) knitting in bed. It's actually a scan from the calendar we had way back when. It looks really nice and I hope I can find a place for it in my room at school!

BUT she also got me FIVE POUNDS OF WOOL for spinning. FIVE POUNDS. I can probably make enough yarn for 2-3 sweaters with that. So. Much. Wool. She told me she thought she remembered me buying $100 worth of wool one time so that's what she did. I never bought that much wool at a time...I bought 2 pounds one time because I thought I was going to spin enough yarn to make ONE sweater. Haha. I'm thinking of dyeing some and finally starting an Etsy shop. More preparation must be had however.

LIIIIIIFE.

Ho Ho Ho.

I'm really excited to get back though. I miss my friends, I miss having a room with doors. I miss Pokemon and Doctor Who all day every day. My classes look interesting, and there are many extracurriculars to be had.

I'm feeling...hopeful about my social life. I'm feeling like there are several situations that may have a possibility of going somewhere, if you know what I mean. And not just me thinking "gee they seem nice I feel like we totally could work for each other," but getting some possible signals from -them-. Like multiple people telling me they miss me and I better get back in town ASAP, and these are people I am not close enough to to just say that kind of stuff willy-nilly. So we'll see, we'll see.

Gonna go have lunch with my high school art teacher on Wednesday! Fun fun.
So today I’m walking down Franklin Street and I see one of my friends, who notices I’m wearing my “You Never Forget Your First Doctor” shirt, so we start talking about Doctor Who and how awesome it is and the Season 5 finale. I’m about to tell her what I loved loved loved so much about the finale when…

A giant mob of girls comes walking towards us, all of them wearing “Team [insert non-Twilight vampire here]” shirts, like “Team Lestat” or “Team Count von Count”. They were all off to watch Eclipse ironically together. They notice my shirt and shout awesome things at me, one of them producing a miniature sonic screwdriver from her bag. I talked with them for a little bit (I told them I was disappointed no one was wearing a Team Charlie shirt) but had to leave not long after because…

I was on my way to play Muggle Quidditch.

Best day? I think so.

Haha tonight I watched Forgetting Sarah Marshall with my dad. It's not awkward if you just pretend it's not awkward! Wooooooooo. I wasn't going to watch it with him but as I get much of my taste in music and British comedy from him, I'm always sort of scrabbling for his approval of things that I like. So I wanted to gauge his reaction. Verdict: he likes Russell Brand.

So because of that and the prospect of seeing Get Him To The Greek in the near future I also started re-listening to the Russell Brand Show (BBC Radio 2) podcasts from back in May 2007 when I started listening to them. It's funny because at that time he was working on Forgetting Sarah Marshall, and it's interesting to hear him talk about the experience. Also, I'd been hearing about the movie for a year before it came out so it was a big thing for me when I finally got to see it. I felt kind of special when it came out, like "yeah you guys think this is just another Judd Apatow & Co. flick but I'VE BEEN ANTICIPATING THIS BITCH FOR A YEARRRRR" No one cared though. No one ever does. bahahaha.

But yeah I really miss Russell & Co. on the radio. Especially Matt Morgan. My googling has turned up that apparently their movie "Bad Father" is still going to be made, which is good news. Too bad that doesn't really mean they'll be teaming up again since it's already been written. But I hope in the future they do. They were such a good double act. ;_;

You guys, this man is the most amazing speaker I have ever had the privilege to see in person. The things he's done, the things he's been through, the passion he has for the things he cares about. He is an amazing man and such an inspiration. God damn he really makes me want to do something. I thought it would be better now that the health care thing is [somewhat] over with, but the other day they had some clip of him being incredibly racist towards Indians ('meh heh Punjab heh heh that river sounds like a sexually transmitted disease', even worse when he was trying to talk about Islam and totally missed the part where most Indians are Hindu). I scour all over the internet, and where do I end up finding it? Youtube. I skipped Youtube altogether cuz I figured it would have been yanked off quicksmart. Although to be fair, it was only uploaded a few days ago. So I'm going to have to watch all the episodes quick in case they're found. Har. There are only 8 so it's all good.

My dad just gave me his old rainbow suspenders. I've been wanting them since I first saw them in his closet when I was a wee little lass. I am in a state of bliss. <3

Well, not that much knitting. But this morning my floppy hat that I finished was dry from blocking, so I wore it alllll day. It is the best hat ever. I'm going to where it everywhere and always and it shall be my hat. And when I don't wear it people will be perplexed and wonder where my hat is.

I tried starting TWO different lace shawls which was a mistake, I've never done lace knitting and I don't understand charts at all. Lace charts anyway. I'm like, WHY IS WHAT I'M KNITTING LOOKING NOTHING LIKE THE PICTURES GUH. Anyway with the yarn I got for this shawl I'm making some socks instead. They'll be super soft and comfy socks. Yay.

Finally bought Regina Spektor's latest album. Sadly...less than impressed. I like a lot of the tracks, to be sure, but I dunno. It doesn't have that same pow that Begin to Hope had. I love Begin to Hope like crazy much. Mmm. Will give it more listens.

I got rather overloaded with resolutions at the last minute (pic365, going to try to do a craft blog AGAIN), but now I've added one to my list that should be relatively easy and fun. Every month I'm going to buy an album from an artist I've never listened to before, or at least heard a little bit of but never an album's worth. This month shall be Muse. I kind of cheated since I bought Black Holes and Revelations a few days ago but Imma get another one, and that'll be January. Any suggestions? :3

PS God I am in love with the crack that is doctoreleven.
End of Time/S5 Trailer rambly-poos.

THERE WAS NO DOCTOR/MASTER SMOOCH GAAAH. I wanted a kiss. :[ RTD I'm glad you're gone, I'm sick of you, you cocktease.

Haha I loved all the speculation on the net like "WILF IS GONNA BE HIS DAD" and then he's like "I'd be proud to call you my Dad." hahaha lolz. way to predict it almost right, internet.

Okay, so, I loved Ten's sacrifice for Wilf. That was great and I almost cried (I didn't cry though, wtf, I didn't shed a single tear at this finale and I like, bawl every time I watch The Parting Of The Ways, go figure), BUT WTF STOP ABSORBING SHIT. Die more creatively for crissakes. Nine: Oh, lemme absorb the Time Vortex to save you, companion. Ten: Lemme absorb this radiation to save you, companion. (not to mention Three also died from radiation poisioning, though that's a bit different) When it's time for Eleven's run to come to an end, for the love of all things nice and good, please don't make it because he had to absorb something to save someone, or because of some kind of poison. DO SOMETHING MORE INTERESTING.

I loved all his little goodbyes:

Except wtf Martha/Mickey? I'm not going to lie, part of me was thinking it in the back of my mind when I watched Journey's End, but that was kind of a fanon-only thought that I didn't actually WANT to see. What happened to Tom, hmm? YOU WERE ENGAGED TO HIM. I suppose freelance Torchwood was too much for him to handle. :\ That's why I will always love Rhys, cuz he can handle Gwen being in Torchwood even though he's a bit of a lump. xD Don't get me wrong though, I'm glad we saw some Martha & Mickey fighting together. I soooo wanted that to happen!

Jack/Alonso FTW! I'm one of the ones who, at the end of Children of Earth was thinking "well now Jack has to go out, romp across the stars, get all that grief'n'shit out of his system, then get himself a boytoy and bring him back to Earth." Well guess we found our boytoy. ;] Not that I should call Alonso that. Cuz he's better than that. But come on, Alonso on Torchwood? Yes, mmm? Or is that too much? Is that just a heartless replacement of Ianto (NNNNG IANTO I MISS YOU, MY SOUL IS CRYING)? Anyway, I APPROVE.

I loved Rose's appearance SO MUCH. I liked Rose a lot, but honest to goodness when you rip someone away from me like that you better keep them gone or my poor little heart won't know how it's meant to feel. So after Journey's End, I was worried when I saw the shots from filming with her in them. But that was the most perfect way to say goodbye ever. Doctor finally got his closure, finally got to say goodbye the way he was meant to. And so sweet. "I think you're going to have the best year ever." GOD WHY DIDN'T THAT MAKE ME CRY, WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME? I was smiling so hard. So sweet. So perfect. Awwwwww. I think all of us, both the lovers and the haters, can finally be satisfied that she's not coming back.

NOM NOM MATT SMITH. Okay, regeneration lolz. First I was like WHY IS HE DESTROYING EVERYTHING and then I realized, well duh, obviously they need an excuse for why Moffat is totally gutting the thing for Season 5...har har. The fact that he freaked out over being a "girl" tickled me to death so. EEEEE loved it. And STILL NOT GINGER. One day, Doctor, one day. Until then though, you will have a multitude of gingers thrown at you and you will abduct them into the Tardis in hopes that they will give you their gingery secrets.

I liked Geronimo the first time, and then I watched the trailer and was like hell no, if this is his catchphrase I will be annoyed. It makes me think of when I was a little kid and we used to jump off of [what we thought were] tall heights holding on plastic bags and trying to parachute. Ehhhh.

River Song better get gone pretty soon. Blech.

YAY YAY WEEPING ANGELS YAY. Silly Moffat, taking a piece of your RTD-era legacy back with you. I approve though. :P I just hope the story doesn't let me down! Blink is one of my favorite episodes ever. Yumm. I think asking for some more Sally Sparrow might be too much (though I've been wanting it for ages, please Moff), but c'mon Moff, she's one of your girls, plz? If River Song can show up maybe just a little bit of Sally? Like maybe they go into the video shop once for no reason. Just a snippety. Plz. ;_;

STOP WITH THE KISSING. GAH STOP STOP STOP. NO. KISSING. It's hard to analyze when the clips are soooooo fast but the close up makes it seem like she's coming onto him, but then when they pull back HE IS SO GETTING INTO IT. NO WHY DOKTAH WHY. ;_; you're only allowed to get it on with girls of the outward appearance of young twenties if THEY ARE ALSO OLDDDDD TIMELADIES. grrrrrr Moffat, you got some 'splaining to do...and you better 'splain this away or I will cry.

Everything else though? Yeah well done, you. Imma like this Matt Smith dude whose face looks like soft dough with his eyes pushed in by someone's thumbs. haha don't deny he looks like someone got into a can of Pillsbury biscuits. Don't get me wrong though, he's pretty fit. Shame on me for being a fangirl but I've sorta been one ever since they announced him. e_e Not that much though. Well, that holds true for as long as it takes me to join doctoreleven (which shan't be long).

my mood says satisfied but that may be a lie. I'm not sure how I feel. melancholy? bittersweet? nostalgic? kinda empty but kinda excited. There's been so much David Tennant for so long, I've loved him and his voice and his hair and fallen ridiculously head-over-heels for that gorgeous brown suit. Sort of like, you thought it would never end. Despite having seen New Who chronologically, I knew Nine was gonna be gone so Ten is really my "first" I'd think. And it's been quite a while (though not as long as Harry Potter was). buhhh no more DT is going to be weird. weird weird weird.

weeeeeeird.

brb, off hoarding eleven icons.

I'll try for these to not all be pictures of my cat[s].
I've gone so quiet since school started! I still feel weird spending extended periods of time on the computer, like I'm being naughty using the computers at school when I should be working. ^^ oh well, I'll get used to it eventually!

I am starting to get very excited for Animazement in May. I've met some awesome people at school, some anime fans and some great costumers. Together we're going to make for an awesome time at con with lots of great costumes. :3

With one group of friends we are likely going to do Ranma and the fiances - I'm going to be girl-type Ranma, I've got one friend who is willing to be Akane, another that would be a great Ukyo that I just have to convince to do it, but we're still looking for a Shampoo. We've got time, I'm sure we can do it.

Another friend, who is a fantastically talented seamstress (and will probably be transferring to fashion design school up north, *sob*), wants to do Princess Zelda but of her own imagined design, and with any luck I'll be joining her as Malon. Heeee. :P We're going to get together and work on designs, since these will be more complex and intricate than my other ideas.

AAAAAAND for the third day of con (well, one of the three days anyway), I am super excited because I plan on being PONYO! wheee~! I just saw the movie yesterday and I am smitten. I was squeeing the entire time. Grinning, clutching my cheeks...the whole deal. I can't stop singing the theme song (in Japanese, of course). The outfit will be super simple to make, and sooo cute.

Best part about ALL THREE costumes? I get an excuse to dye my hair RED again~! Whee! Well, I'll still have to get a wig for Malon, but I can cut my hair a bit shorter and style it to do both Ranma and Ponyo, and for Ranma I'll just get a little extension to clip in for the braid. :P

Yeah so knitting and spinning have taken a bit of a back seat (still doing them of course) since I am working on sewing projects now! Right now I am sewing a dress that I am going to dye in the spectrum and wear for Pride next weekend. I'm so excited!

And on the kitty front...Dad really wants kitties, missing Minou and of course me, but I want to wait until I can have significant time to be with them and watch them grow, so we have made the compromise that we will be getting two kittens for Christmas - a boy and a girl. I can't wait. The idea of having two kittens at one time is almost too much for me to handle... CUTE OVERLOAD.

Right now I'm just getting a cute overload in general, it's coming at me from so many directions...hope I can keep this up! haha.

    <lj:music>ANGRY MUSIC</lj:music>

So, about ten minutes into the Daily Show tonight I had to just shut off the television. Stewart/Colbert used to be a good laugh for me at the end of the day, but what with the current climate, all it is now is them pointing out the hypocrisy of Fox News. I'll admit to being a bit hypocritical myself when I say I found it funnier when Bush was president and when we weren't trying to reform health care. But now it just makes me angry and sad.

What I cannot stand is Fox's hailing of Bush as some great guy who didn't deserve all the criticism that went his way. It was aaaaaaalways the liberals' fault. Now I'll admit, Bush probably did get more hate than he deserved at times, but that's not to say that I don't resent a lot of his policies and think we would have been better off with someone else. But to put Bush up on a pedestal and call the liberals wackos while Bush was in office, and now that Obama is in office call him everything from Hitler to the Antichrist to the End Of Life As We Know it, and defend it by saying "I'm just exercising my right to free speech", all the while claiming to be the fair, unbiased network? No. I'm sorry, but no. That is just not acceptable. I know that liberals can and have said comparable things, but as far as I've seen, The Daily Show and Co. spare no one their mockery when it is deserved. So there has to be a reason they mostly rip on Fox News.

Admittedly it is hard to know what to believe sometimes because editing does work wonders on sound bytes. Things get taken out of context all the time. But, I don't take all my opinions of Fox News from the Daily Show video clips...I was forced many a night at my old job to watch Glenn Beck, The O'Reilly Factor, and Hannity and Colmes, so yeah, I know what they have said, in context. And it is just as bad as it is when reduced to 10-second bytes.

I'm not saying people shouldn't be allowed to have different views and be able to voice their minds. But I find something inherently immoral in allowing a television channel, with obvious influence due to the nature of their content to spread malicious lies about their opponents and call that "news." No, news is the reporting of facts, pure and simple. News does not put the reporter or presenter's opinions into the story. But Fox is allowed to say that Obama is not a citizen, that liberals are Anti-America, that government bureaucrats want to kill your grandparents, and people believe it, because it is "news." And, since they call themselves "news," many people who watch them think that they are already informed and that they know the facts. And then we get people who are deathly afraid of the word socialism screaming complete fallacies, when in reality they know nothing about what's going on, simply that Fox News told them they have something they need to be afraid of. The "Town Hall" meeting that sticks the most in my mind was the one where the Senator or Congressman or whatever said "I don't support a single-payer system, but that's not what's being proposed" and most of the people in the room chimed "Oh yes it is!" It's a total lie, and the fact that people continue to spread and believe things about the proposed bill that are based nowhere on facts or reality stuns and angers me. I don't understand the mindset that "the government is evil and therefore we are naive to believe the facts about the bill as given to us by the people who wrote it; we should instead believe what is told us by people who haven't even read it."

I don't think all Conservatives are crazy and spiteful. I think all the Conservatives on Fox News are crazy and spiteful, but they by no means represent the whole population. They do, however, have unfair power and influence on the way the health care debate is going right now. I honestly believed we were going to get health care reform, but right now, I'm not so sure. People have caused so much fuss, often with Fox's prompting and nudging, over things that aren't even true that it is hindering actual meaningful debate and progress. And it looks like the Democrats are starting to crumble a bit, and who knows where it will go. I don't want this reform to fail. But I think it might.

But Fox News is not the only one to blame. Don't think because I'm a liberal I condone MSNBC. Not by a long shot. Yeah, I'm more inclined to agree with general things they say (anything Keith Olbermann has ever said on gay issues has seemed so articulate and simple and, at times, moved me to tears), but for petty name-calling and generalizing an entire half of the political spectrum, they're no better than Fox News. And I used to swear by CNN, but they don't even report the news anymore. They report who John Gosselin is dating now and give second-by-second coverage of the vehicle carrying Michael Jackson's body to the funeral home. They don't usually include the so-called "spin," but they are frivolous and have forgotten how good, REAL news reporting works.

I have seriously lost faith in our news system. I don't know where to go anymore to stay an informed citizen yet keep away from the shit that doesn't need to clog my brain and give me an aneurysm. Even my Daily lulz that is the mighty duo of Stewart/Colbert has been ruined for me. They are still doing what they always do, pointing out the dumb stuff that goes on in our government and news organizations and letting it speak for itself, but right now it is so bad that it's not saying "funny," it's saying "sad and pathetic".

I think I'm going to give the newspaper and BBC a try. I hope I'll see an improvement. If not, you can look for me in a cave somewhere trying to light a fire with some sticks and wearing foliage for clothing.

Cleaning my room. A daunting, daunting task, but I think I am slowly making progress. My main problem right now is that it is horribly stuffy in here, and even with my door open to the rest of the house and the air conditioning on, and me wearing a flimsy cotton dress, I AM SO HOT. I almost want to quit because I have made visible progress today, but it still isn't much and I don't want to lose my momentum. But I'm dieing over here. ;_;

Exactly one week until I move in. Excitement! As long as I have my room moderately clean by then...

AHAHAHA Russell Brand is hosting the VMAs again this year!

Didn't MTV learn their lesson last year?

I suppose making jokes about the Jonas Brothers' virginity and the subsequent drama wasn't enough to dissuade MTV! GOOD FOR YOU MTV!

I will of course be watching. I miss my Russell.
