WELCOME

The New York State Independent Living Council, Inc. (NYSILC) is an independent, nonprofit state council. The NYSILC mission is to promote independent living for people with disabilities across New York State, in partnership with the network of community-based Centers for Independent Living (CILs). Independent Living is a peer-based model run and supported by people with disabilities, with the goal of ensuring access to the services needed to improve quality of life in the community. NYSILC’s primary responsibility is to work with state partners to develop, monitor, and evaluate New York’s three-year Statewide Plan for Independent Living (SPIL) as mandated by the Federal Rehabilitation Act, as amended.
