Gas prices are down signifigantly. How pleasing! Course some folks are claiming that gas companies costs have dropped by a lot more and are reufsing to pass the full savings on to the individual station owners or to us...

So who watched Survivor ~~race war~~ Cook islands. I was not surprised by the reaction to the announcement that this years Survivor was going to be seperated by race. I sort of expected that sort of nonsense. i think it was a lot of hullabaloo, the question is, was Mark Burnett hoping for the hulabas reaction or not? Because once you look at it negatively, it's lose-lose. If there is racial drama, you're racec baiting and a horrid person. And if there is no racial drama and it's just Survivor as usual (which it turned out to be) then folk say that there was no racial issues and it was all a stunt.

Perhaps it was a stunt. perhaps not. But I don't think you can say that it was a stunt simply because there was no racial drama. If seperating by race is bad, then so is gender and age, and I don't recall anyone whining about it last season or in Amazon. I also think that having much more non-whites is a good thing. When there's one lazy black guy, or one whiny asian woman, you can sterotype all black men as being lazy, or all asian women as whiny. When there are five black people or five asians, it's not so easy. you realize that everyone is an individual after all.

In short, STFU about how horrid the racial divide is and just watch.

That said, it was a somewhat boring premiere. But then again, to me, almost every premiere is boring except for the one with Rupert when they to neogitate with islanders, and the season where they hiked for 15 miles. THAT was drama. i generally don't get too into the show until about 6 or 7 people have been eliminated cause there's just too much going on to follow....

I won the amazing race contest, I was #11 out of I don't-know-how-many-entries! I definately have to say thanks to all the folks who helped me with the clues, I couldn't have finished it w-o you. Now I'm sure you're wondering "what did I win?" and the answer is "I DON'T KNOW!" there are 35 prizes for the first 35 finishers but they are distributed randomnly, so I'll know probably by tuesday. I didn't drive 2000 miles in 18 days and spend $300, on gas for nothing!

(pretexting is when someone calls a company and pretends to be the responsibile party in the hopes of gaining access to account information and/or making changes) There was a huff about this not long ago over these companies that brazenly advertised that they could get you your ex-girlfriends phone bill for $100, and they did it by pretexting.

So if we require you to know something off the bill you can't pretext apparently. or at least it's much harder anyway.

Here's an article about the law clerk who wrote about her sexual escapes and is being sued by one of the men she posted about, where the following argument is made (which is why it's relevant...)

In other news, anybody out there have a garden? We bought the place in June and planted a garden. Got cucumbers ok, but the tomatos habve grown but never turned red. I've got dozens of tomatos on the vines weighing the plant down like lead weights, but none ripe enough to pluck.

I went to gamestop and had a long conversation with the manager about the PS3. Sony has delayed the European launch so they can devote their supply to the US & Japanese launch but even then there are going to be shortages. We were debating whether there will be bidding wars on PS3s at Xmas because of the high prices they will command to start and the manager said he was positive that the prices will be thru the roof. he saw an Xbox go on Ebay at xmas for over $1300 and there will be a great shortage of PS3s then there was of Xbox 360s last year.

I was thinking of preordering one, but now I am thinking of preordering three. One for me and two to sell. Figure let it close on 12/23, get paid by paypal and overnight it to the buyer in time for Xmas...

OMG I was wondering if Chilltown was actually going to get all the way to the F2, but alas, Janelle had to actually pull off her blinders and talk with Ericka. 'America must be laughing their asses off at us!" Why yes, yes we were. It is utterly amazing that Will tried to get evicted at the start and still folks wouldn't evict him, even after that "I hate you all!" speech.

And then he and Boogie get everyone to do everything they wanted. The old saying "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" is never truer in the BB house, and he was absolutely brilliant always stoking the fires to keep the other players scrapping with each other and never giving Chilltown a serious look at eviction. And really it comres down to Will playing Janelle. Because she felt for Chilltown, that wrecked the season 6 alliance, and then from there that led to marcellus and howie and james and Danielle going home.

And Chicken george stayed around only because he was never ever a threat to anyone. He was there to have fun and he did.

And Howie, I gotta tell you I loved you on Season 6 but this year you were an ass, and the way he is acting in the sequestered house, *I'd* smack him. hell, George is getting angry and he never gets angry.

I was watching the final HOH and couldn't believe that Julie and the producers didnt catch Janelles hand come off the key, thank god they caught it a few moments later. That would've been a scandal if they hadn't. My bet is Ericka or Janelle wins HOH and whichever one wins takes the other one. Neither would fair well against Boogie I don't think. Then again, you can never predict how the votes will go.

Ok, ok... the video does make some salient points. My wife's computer got stuffed with spyware from her downloading from limewire and some other sites. and yes, you can be sued by the RIAA. but this video is about as useful as that one I've seen at the start of some rented dvd's, where it tells you not to download movies illegally. (You wouldn't steal a purse. You wouldn't steal a tv. So why would you download a movie without paying? It's stealing!)

Sounds very cool and certainly could prove invaluable.

Course they'll still be on earth so they'll be at full gravity as opposed to mars 0.377 gravity. i don't think any simulator can replicate that.

Keith Olberman shreds Rumsfeld and the White house. I am not entirely sure his analogies are 100% spot on, but msot certainly do, and you can feel Olberman's blood boil thru the computer screen. I love the way he references Edward R Murrow at the end. he would've been proud of keith's commentary tonight.

I rented SIlent Hill last night. OMG that was terrible. Well the script was terrible. The SFX, the directing and the pacing was fairly good and I'm glad I saw it. i've never played the game so I can't say whether it was faithful to the game, better/worse etc, but that script (and particularly the ending) was sooooo bad. It just continues to prove that video game inspired movies generally suck.

The worst has got to be Doom Or maybe Street Fighter. They set the standard for bad VG movies. I imagine Super Mario Brothers is worse but as I've never seen it, I can't say it.

On the plus side the movie had a preview for Ghost rider which looks really really good.
