Each year, Newark Arts Festival introduces a theme that frames the conversations and creative work presented across the city. In 2026, Newark Arts Council celebrates its 45th anniversary alongside the 25th anniversary of the Festival it has proudly produced for more than two decades.
The theme On Purpose reflects the intention behind that legacy—artists, partners, and communities choosing year after year to create, collaborate, and shape Newark’s cultural future.
The signature annual opening event is The NAF Ball, a night of art, performance, and fashion honoring the artists at the foundation of Newark’s Arts & Culture community.
“An Evening With:” Series features exclusive interviews, audience Q&A, and performances by legendary and contemporary artists.
The entire city comes alive for Art Night Out. From gallery openings and parties to art pop-ups and more, the energy is unmatched.
