Junk, and loads of it. But it wasn't that junk that you could easily toss aside into a garbage can and forget about. It was the type that nobody but him could see.
He still had many doubts about leaving. No, no he didn't actually. His doubts were in what would happen after the matter. Would he ever be able to feel good about himself? Would anybody else even give him the chance to? What if nobody wanted him on their side? What if he was the junk himself in this situation?
He didn't know the answer to that. All he knew was that he wouldn't feel right until he at least gave it a shot. There was something that had began to burn inside him the day that he had seen what the true good was. It was a flame beyond his control, beyond that of any firebender, and it burned with desire to redeem himself.
His last flame had a similar want, but this flame didn't care about honor, or popularity. All Zuko cared about now was for once feeling good about who he was, and it seemed serving good was the only way that would be realized.
