Following a tip-off in the pub last night...

219 Cloudia in Covent Garden

Cloudia is the elephant without a fixed location as she goes around to different sites to advertise the elephants on parade and I missed finding her when she was sighted in Carnaby Street a few weeks ago.

At the end of the month the elephants will be auctioned off to raise money for asian elephant conservation projects. You won't be able to get one for less than £1000; some elephants currently have bids over £5000.

Gerald news: The clientele of Selfridges&Co department store in London's Oxford Street were so appalled at the sight of Gerald, one of six Elephants on Parade there, that several customer complaints were received by the store. This is why he was removed from the store and won't be returning there. The elephantparade lady handing out maps with Cloudia didn't seem to think there was anything terribly upsetting about him though. He is currently hanging out with the nicer people in the Elephant Parade London office.

Total 251.

A few more elephantsCollapse )

*I asked the nice young lady at the Elephant Shop if Gerald was back in the store or was he still off sick. She replied 'Oh I'm Sorry, Gerald isn't coming back here. I'm not sure where he might be going'. I expect that means he won't be seen again until the elephant parade at the end of the month at the Royal Hospital.

The City
Those of you following the trails, yesterday was from the parks and Mayfair area of West London. Today was a short trip around the City.
A few famous buildings along the wayCollapse ) and 201 The Elephant Outside The Room is back outside St. Paul's Cathedral, so the first elephant I saw there (Ritual) all alone nearly two weeks ago isn't quite so lonely any more.

As Saturday looked like being a nice day, I headed into London intending to see some of open garden squares but then saw that Trooping the Colour was on as well. So I got to the bottom of the Mall opposite Horse Guards Road for a bit of pomp and pageantry and could hear the bands on the parade ground. There was a nice old man nearby explaining to some ladies what was going on and I was nicely placed to see the processions leaving Horse Guards and turn the corner into the Mall - the big guns, the bands, and the smartly dressed soldiers. After they had all passed and the big pooper scoopers started cleaning up the road I headed into St James's Park and walked up until they started letting people out onto the Mall. As all the crowds who had been waiting nearer the palace were still kept behind the railings in the parks, this meant that I ended up right in front of the Palace to watch the flypast.

So after all that what do you think the photo under the cut is of?
anyone want a guess?Collapse )
