A pathway programme is a preparation course for international students who do not yet meet the academic or English language requirements for direct entry to a UK university degree. It helps students develop the skills and knowledge needed to succeed at degree-level study.
The centre offers three main programme types:
International Foundation – prepares students for the first year of an undergraduate degree
International Year One – equivalent to the first year of a degree and leads directly to Year 2
Pre-Master’s – prepares students for postgraduate study.
There are also a range of English language programmes for students who need to improve their English before starting a pathway programme.
The centre is located on the Newcastle University campus in Newcastle upon Tyne, UK. International Study Centre students have access to Newcastle University's facilities and enjoy life in a top UK student city while preparing for their degree.
Students can continue to degrees in many subject areas, including:
architecture
business and management
computer science and engineering
science and life sciences
humanities and social sciences.
Specific options depend on the pathway programme studied.
Students can apply directly through the International Study Centre or through an authorised education counsellor. After submitting an application, students may receive a conditional or unconditional offer depending on whether entry requirements have been met.
