Hello, everyone. My name is Nathaniel Bloom. I am a writer who focuses on philosophy, culture, politics, and generally any subject that interests me, such as theology, literature, and perhaps even sexology. I am new to posting on Substack, which seems to be the last refuge (a veritable counter-culture of sorts) for any independent thought in the 21st century. I hope to contribute to the conversation and collaborate with the extraordinary thinkers, writers, theorists, and political praxists on Substack.

A view held by many people in the course of an expedient act is that ‘Between the most vehement despisers of my act and the foremost admirers of my ingenuity, I care only for the latter opinion, as those will inherit the task of history. Criticism becomes less potent and the approval, more esteemed’. This is one that I do not share. Due to the nature of disagreement between two reasonable (but low in agreeableness) people and the benefit of an ideologically sympathetic adversary positing a well-crafted syllogism or a mutually advantageous refutation of a prior irrational bias.

I am not here to pen a view and expect everyone to agree with me. The world is calling for coherent ideas and the rediscovery of philosophies. An adversarial relationship is better than a gaggle of mindless, incurious fellows following a sophist or a base homiletician, ‘a preacher to the crowd’. Disagreement is where most fruit grows, in an environmental pendulum of rain and sun. Though this dyad, as a representation of the intricacies of ideological and cultural development, may be too strained a metaphor, it remains effective for understanding what is occurring today in the socio-cultural realm. Dynamism is occurring on Substack, and thoughtful people are engaging not only in dialectics but in praxis. What should be practiced: orthopraxy, not orthodoxy.

Of my professional work, the less known for now, the better. It is safe to say that I am a mere academic with a mind for the future and a desire to maintain a professional distance from my posts here temporarily. I don’t wish to engineer engagement by being mysterious or anything like that; I simply hope that followers will be attracted to new or forgotten ideas and counter-arguments. To those who have been following both when I first began my Substack and my more recent followers, thank you for the opportunity and the patience (if relevant). As said in my ‘About’, I shall try to post essays on Mondays and Thursdays regularly.

A statement to disclose my (infrequent) natural pretentiousness.

Let it be well known and fully understood by any interpreter or utilizer of l’esprit or Die Augen in relation to my future writing that in these collectanea of (almost) daily reflections there is no implicit or explicit airing of a socially condemned persona or identity that seeks to manifest in a clandestine and enabling environment. Any relation to an ideological inflection, whether contemporary or thereafter, is crafted only by the observer and is developed extraneously to the wishes of the writer. This corresponding series purely serves as a vehicle for the writer’s interests and as a method of stimulating ambition in the grand vacuum of (meaning, value, significance) in the 21st century to spring forth creatively. An analysis, a satire, a meaningless joke, a descriptive chronicle, a critical theory, an obiter dictum, a fever-dream of a member raised by a forgotten semiotic system, an intentional account of specific acts, a Культура, a Пошлость, a microtonal C and C# convergence, a triad harmony on quindicesima, 88 realities, 52 truths, and 36 lies.
