Hey MediaNama, file an RTI for me
The team at MediaNama regularly files Right to Information requests with public authorities in India, in order to surface information that should ideally be in the public domain, and inform technology policy in the country. This has led to many disclosures from various governments, which have formed the basis of stories by us, as well as others.
At the same time, we're acutely aware that we may not be in the know of all issues and developments that need public scrutiny, nor do we always have the best ideas regarding which RTI's to file.
You can help us: Use this form to help us draft an RTI which we can consider for filing.
What we will do:
1. Give due consideration to filing the RTI, if we believe it is in public interest for that information to become public.
2. Publish the RTI response, if we get an adequate, newsworthy response from public authorities.
3. File an appeal if the RTI is rejected on frivolous grounds, or the response is inadequate, depending on resources available to us.
4. Review this form's responses once a week to draft filings.
What we won't do:
1. File RTI's that are not in public interest
2. Bury responses received if they are newsworthy
3. Push someones agenda
4. File RTI's that aren't technology industry related
You may fill this RTI form anonymously. You may also choose to share your details with us: we might need to contact you for more information.
