Title: The Best Aerial Steam Team in the DMLE

Summary: Draco Malfoy is one-half of the best damned Aerial Steam Team in Wizarding Britain, and he's exceedingly proud of it. It doesn't hurt that his partner is ~~adorable~~ ~~delectable~~ not nearly as displeasing as previously presumed, even if Potter doesn't always support Draco's fashion choices. Really, how can Draco not want to transfigure his standard-issue Ministry uniform (boring!) into something more posh. He's still the best at his job. He even invented wings!

In case anyone has links to anything that is posted on my "moonfeather-ink.com/naadi" H/D website, I thought I should give notice that the site will be closing permanently on January 31, 2017. Please update any links to go to the work on AO3 - see below. If anyone has a link that goes to something you can't find on AO3, please let me know!

Important NOTE: This also means that since that site was hosting my art here on LJ, almost all of the links to artwork posted here will be broken. It is unlikely that I will be able to take the time to recode all of those links. So if you are looking for my art, please check out the link below.

I was a mod for hd_fanart's Harry/Draco Art Fest again this year, so I did one piece of art for that.

Summary: Deep in an enchanted forest, Harry finds a magical pool inhabited by a beautiful naiad. In mythology, all naiads, or water nymphs, divine nature spirits, are female. Of course, Draco must be the exception. ;-)

It's been a year full of major and minor home renovations that have been pretty much all-consuming, so I've had very little time for other creative projects, however I was a mod for hd_fanart's Harry/Draco Art Fest again this year, so I did art for that:

2014 - Year in Review

This has been an intensely busy year for me, mostly with home renovation and family health issues. My grandmother died in November at 100 years old. I've posted about that and the past year here on my other journal.

Also on my other journal - Holiday Greetings from me and Middle Earth - a bit of animated art for the season. :)

I did help out again as mod for hd_fanart's Harry/Draco Art Fest this year, so I did some art for that:

2013 - Year in Review! Bidding everyone a very fond fandom farewell!! <3

In February of 2002, I started writing a Harry/Draco story titled, Checkmate. Then I discovered digital art and H/D fests. :D And now, many, many fics and artworks later, it's the end of 2013 and time for me to move on to other work, including original writing and art. It's been a wonderful, life-changing experience to be involved with fandom, and I have learned and laughed and loved so much with all the friends I've made here. So it is with mixed sadness and excitement that I am retiring this journal. All my previous WIPs are finished; my fandom work this year is the last I intend to do. I still love H/D and HP so I'm sure I'll still be checking my flist on occasion here, and I'll still be a mod for a few comms. And for the foreseeable future, I don't intend to take my work down or delete this journal.

All my HP and H/D work can be found here on LJ in the Year in Review posts linked below, or ON MY WEBSITE.

I also now have all my HP and H/D work up on AO3 HERE.

If anyone is interested in following my future work, you are more than welcome to check out dmmccabe and friend me there. That is where I'll be posting all my new work from now on. :)

Notes: Thank you to dysonrules for prompting this! Like so many in the H/D fandom, I fell head over heels in love with Stanley the mint beetle from saras_girl's fic All Life is Yours to Miss, and I loved the opportunity to bring him to life. Animating Stanley was also my first attempt to work with a 3D shape, so it was both a very fun and a little bit how-the-hell-do-I-move-this-thing experience!

Important Note for Viewing: This is animated art, on four pages. Each animation will probably run (excruciatingly) slowly until the browser finishes loading the file. Please be patient. The animations do repeat, and they will usually run up to speed on the second time through. To go to the next page, just click anywhere on the animated image. The second piece of art done for this year's Harry/Draco Art Fest on hd_fanart. :)

     Place: London or Malfoy Manor
     Emotion: anxiety, fear, excitement, love, desperation

     Object: rings, feathers, champagne, diamonds, flowers
     Action: Draco hosts a party at Malfoy Manor that Harry attends, or they both attend a party somewhere in London. They are trying to keep their distance, but love makes it seem impossible; they steal brief moments together, trying not to allow everyone else see.
     Mood: secrecy, forbidden-ness, partying 20's style, gaiety, drunken-ness

Summary: 1920's Muggle styles are all the rage post-war. The Malfoys throw a 1920's party to celebrate the restoration of Malfoy Manor and their liberation from all that nasty Dark Lord business. Who better to invite than the hero responsible, Harry Potter, and his new fiancée. In fact, Draco insists on it. ;-)

Notes: Thank you to savagesnakes for this wonderful prompt! I loved the idea of a 1920's party at Malfoy Manor and had so much fun doing this with an art nouveau style. The 1920's art nouveau dresses were inspired by the work of George Barbier. Ginny's dress and pose were inspired by this art, also by Barbier. The dance poses were inspired by Vernon and Irene Castle. The title of this piece was inspired by "Past the Point of No Return" from Phantom of the Opera by Andrew Lloyd Webber, specifically the following lyrics:

"Past the point of no return, no backward glances
Our games of make-believe are at an end
Past all thought of 'If' or 'When', no use resisting
Abandon thought and let the dream descend
What raging fire shall flood the soul?
What rich desire unlocks its door?
What sweet seduction lies before us?"

Notes: Thank you to olivia_beige for this great and fun prompt! Besides the Harry Potter books, Good Omens, by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett, is one of my very favorite books, and I loved the chance to draw Crowley and Aziraphale as Harry and Draco. I debated a while as to who should be the demon and who should be the angel, but finally it came down to hair color. ;-) I'm not sure I managed to make Harry!Crowley look particularly demonic, and perhaps Draco!Aziraphale is more angelic than Draco-ish, but I hope you'll enjoy this cross-over. Sadly though, wings just wouldn't fit inside the bookstore - I did try, but to have them not showing is more canon anyway - so please think of them as there invisibly. Oh, and since Aziraphale's beloved bookstore was recreated after the Almost-Apocalypse, and since this is Draco!Aziraphale, I thought maybe it should be a bit more posh than it was originally. ;-)

For anyone unfamiliar with Good Omens, things from that universe that I included here: Crowley's beloved 1926 Bentley (parked outside on the street), Crowley's sunglasses that he wears everywhere, even when he doesn't need them, the Closed sign on the door that doesn't say Open on the other side, and Aziraphale's hot cocoa and candles.

I don't often promote things, but this makes me incredibly gleeful!! Cyan, the creators of the Myst/Uru series of games, is planning a new game: Obduction. They have a Kickstarter project going on now until November 16th, to fund it. I've pledged generously and hope anyone else who is a fan of their amazing work, will consider supporting them too. Even $1 is welcome!

HP Art Post: The Gory, Spoilery Alphabetic Guide to Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

If there is anyone still around that remembers when I started this - it was in 2005! - I'm happy to say, it is NOW FINALLY FINISHED!!! Actually, it is not only finished, it is entirely reworked, and a brand new "B" has been added. This project was one of the very first things I tried to draw digitally, and over the years as I learned better how to do that work, the style changed significantly. With B in particular, I realized that the original version was not in keeping with the rest, in that it was not an illustration of an event in the book. So therefore, I've redrawn a new B and redrawn the others a bit so that the style, while still not exactly the same, at least is more consistent overall. And finally, I've added the missing letters: W - Z! :) And this is also the last of all the WIPs I had hanging around unfinished. Yay!!

H/D Art Post: Your Heart's Desire - FINALLY FINISHED!!

I have finally managed to finish Your Heart's Desire! This was a multi-page animated piece that I started for a second prompt I picked up in hd_fanart's 2009 (yes, 2009!) Harry/Draco Art Fest for a prompt submitted by lemon_drop151. The story and art got far more complicated than I had time to complete for the fest, and I barely got enough done to post a Part 1 in the fest. Sadly, I had to leave it very angsty and unresolved. Not my thing at all! *grin*

There were 19 pages in the original Part 1. The complete, finished version now has 50. *rolls eyes at self* But it is done now. Yay! :D

My new HP and H/D Website went live today! :)

Well, after at least two years or more of telling myself, "I really need to update my website," I have finally done so! I spent nearly every spare minute for the last four months (omg) learning xhtml and css coding and literally rewriting my website from scratch. Everything, including the text of every fanfic, has been edited and rewritten into new code. Checkmate alone took almost a month to edit and recode. O_o But I am very pleased with how it turned out. :D

If you want to have a look, you can visit the new site here: Fanfiction and Art by Naadi. This site is now current and houses all of the HP and Harry/Draco fanfiction and art that I have completed to date, as well as the completed parts of the two WIP's that I'm still working on.

I did start out to try to carry over as many link urls from the previous site as I could, but I'm not sure I was ultimately able to do that, since the site ended up being completely reorganized. So if anyone had bookmarked anything of mine on the old site, I apologize if that link has now been broken. I will be happy to help anyone relocate a link for something on the new site, if you need it. :)

2012 - Year in Review!

This year has been very busy with school, but I managed to squeek out a few things here at the end of the year. :D I actually put off doing any original work this year, just because of how busy I was with school, and ended up keeping my creative self happy by accidently finding fest prompts I could NOT resist. lol I do still plan to finish the last two or three of my HP fanart works that are still unfinished, including Your Heart's Desire and The Gory, Spoilery Alphabetic Guide to HP & HBP, which I didn't manage to get to this year. I blame that on those evil irresistable aforementioned prompts. :P

Notes: I fell in love with the idea of this prompt and its lovely words, so many thank yous to phoenix_on_ice for the wonderful drabble inspiration. I changed one word, "sat" to "stood," in the last panel to fit the art. All four of the panels I created include my own photographs as backgrounds - the Hogwarts Castle image was taken at Harry Potter World in Orlando, Florida. Four Seasons, Four Moments, Four Steps to Love

In the Spring everything was so new...fresh. Picnics and stolen glances and kisses that made me blush. I was infatuated with you and couldn't get enough.

In the Summer things heated up, both the weather and us. We devoured each other at every opportunity in a lusty haze as days blended together under the sun.

In the Autumn we walked as comfortable companions though the woods, just talking for hours. Getting to know each other on a deeper level than anything I had experienced before.

And in the winter; as we sat together watching fireworks going off in the distance, the only thing I wanted from the upcoming year was to continue being this happy with you. And as you looked at me and blushed I knew what you were thinking, and I could feel the same heat building, and I knew this was love.

This was the second piece of art I did for hd_fanart's 2012 H/D Art Fest. :)

Notes: I tried to resist this prompt, I really did. I have no idea why I felt compelled to draw this, but I kept coming back to it, and finally gave in. It must have been the motorcycle... Yeah, that’s it! It had nothing at all to do with leather-pants!Draco. ;-) lol So thank you so much to beckybrit for the irresistible prompt, which was an excerpt taken from her own fic, "How Do You Like Me Now?"

Harry watched with rapt fascination as the rider swung one long, leather-clad leg over the bike and stood facing the restaurant. Harry had a perfect, uninterrupted view of the stranger and used it to his full advantage as he swept his eyes over every inch on display.

Harry started at his feet, admiring the heavy, black boots that came part way up the stranger’s firm calves. Ridiculously tight, black leather trousers clung to toned and slender thighs and Harry couldn’t help but lick his lips as his eyes trailed up and over the stranger’s rather impressive bulge. Harry swallowed thickly, feeling his own impressive bulge beginning to take an interest.

Harry vaguely heard one his friends saying his name, but he had absolutely no intention of turning back to the table; he didn’t want to miss anything. The stranger wore a snug-fitting, black leather jacket that hinted at a lean frame underneath. Harry reluctantly skimmed over the flat, inviting planes of the stranger’s hips and torso, getting beyond excited as he watched pale hands reach up and tug the muggle helmet off his head. Harry’s breath caught as pale blond hair spilled out and fell about the stranger’s beautifully handsome face.

Except, Harry realised as his mouth went dry all of a sudden, it wasn’t a stranger after all.

This was the first of three pieces of art I did for hd_fanart's 2012 H/D Art Fest. :) I was also the lone moderator for that fest! I'm very glad to have managed it without messing anything (much) up! *wipes brow* :D

Harry gamely tread water and spared a longing look in the direction of the shore, where he had left his clothing...and his wand. When his muscles refused to tread any longer, he took a final gulp of air before he slipped quietly under.

Gentle hands caught Harry by the waist. Cool lips covered Harry's mouth, and a warm tongue demanded entrance. Harry opened his mouth, and air, precious air, was breathed into him.

Harry found himself growing hard as he brushed up against wet, slippery skin. He tried to nudge himself between the legs of his savior, only to realize the lower part of the other person was covered with slick scales and ended in a large tail. He frotted his lower body against the belly of the creature that held him and breathed for him. The powerful tail slipped between Harry's legs and curved up until he was nearly astride his savior. He angled his head to fit their mouths more tightly together and continued to rub himself against the creature in search of release. Harry felt the tail rocking beneath him, but it wasn't until his head broke the surface and he took a gasp of actual air that he discovered they had been swimming up.

Harry climaxed with a choked sob, hips still frotting frantically while he clung to his savior.

"Alright there, Potter?"

Harry recognized that voice. "M-Malfoy?" He opened his eyes to see a familiar, pale face before him.
