I just posted this on twitter, but I'm going to post it here in a little bit of expanded form, and I'll probably post it on my Tumblr too, because it is something that's very important to me and I want to talk about it, Swaim it.

The fact that so many Americans, on all sides of politics, have such a terrible, misguided or just plain incorrect view of our Founding Generation and who each of them were as people is really, really swaiming depressing. That these people are so willing to trot out facts that are blurry or just plain incorrect, to use quotes out of context to propel their own personal agendas, that they are so willing to use these amazing men and women as nothing more than mere props while they ignore their incredible, fascinating, complicated stories because they are sometimes 'inconvient' to the narrative that they are trying to present to the American public just makes me incredibly and deeply sad.

I want everyone to just stop for a little bit and read some books about them all; read every book about any of them that you can get your hands on, so that you know as much as you possibly can. And then we can stop using them as props, because I think that one thing we can all definitely agree on is that they deserve much better than that, that they deserve the absolute best we can give them.

I love the Founding Generation, and I'm fascinated by them, and I think that what they accomplished is one of the great, monumental moments in human history, and that story is more than an easy place to find quips and quotes to back up whatever argument you are choosing to make that day, regardless of context or original intent. If you're going to use them as examples, know the people you're using as examples, Please God.

I just have a lot of feelings about this, about history being ignored and then misused as though it is something not worth our love, our faith and our devotion (I'm protective of history like a mother bear). And the Founders get hit with it a lot because what they did was so epic, that it seems much, much simpler to just use it without trying to understand the epic scale of what was accomplished, and the huge, complicated, fascinating and at times frustrating story of how it was accomplished. They understood that this was their legacy and their challenge to future generations, and that it opened them up to the kind of scrutiny that most of us can only imagine. Those men and women understood that the blemishes would be just as well scoured as the triumphs, and then they Swaiming did it anyway.

They deserve to be remembered properly and fully, whether you choose to love them or hate them, and they should be more than just props of empty political rhetoric.

Think about how masterfull the Declaration and the Constitution are. They said, "Here's our best. All that we ask is that you give yours in return." How amazing is that?

On the show, Will McAvoy is a news anchor who is popular because he doesn’t bother anybody, at least on air, until he goes on a rant at a college seminar (see here). In his personal life, he’s gruff and unapproachable, and as the show begins, his executive producer, Don Keefer, takes off for another show with his former substitute anchor. Charlie Skinner, who is the news division president of ACN, the news network Will works for, brings in Mackenzie McHale, Will’s ex-girlfriend who broke his heart three years before by cheating on him with her ex-boyfriend and has been imbedded in Iraq for the past 26 months, to be his new executive producer. Mac wants Will to work with her and his staff to create a news show that is both popular and does the job a news show should do, helping to create an informed electorate. She and Charlie work to convince Will to say to hell with the ratings and do the absolute best news show they can.

Maggie Jordan is Don’s girlfriend, who stays with the show out of loyalty when most of the staff takes off with Don. She is promoted to associate producer by Mac in the first episode after being accidentally promoted to assistant by Will sometime before the pilot. Jim Harper, senior producer, comes with Mac and develops a crush on Maggie, complicating their relationship and Don and Maggie’s. Neal Sampat writes Will’s blog, searches the internet for stories, is the team’s go to man for facts and tells anyone who will listen that Bigfoot is real.

In the AU, Will is a nineteen year old junior law student from small town Nebraska (which is canon), attending Atlantic Coast University. He took a journalism class his first semester to fill a core curriculum requirement, and by the fifth day of classes, Professor Charlie Skinner had taken him on as a mentee. Although non-journalism majors are not officially allowed to host shows on the college radio station, Charlie, in exchange for Will TAing for him, helps Will start a ‘pirate’ radio show from 11 to 12, five nights a week that quickly surpasses the actual station shows in popularity. It’s available for download online, and Will has listeners all across the country.

Don and Maggie are freshmen who have been dating since their ninth grade year. After Will’s tirade, Don accepts a position on a show done by an actual journalism major, Eliot, and is replaced by Mac, who has just returned from an exchange program in Africa, along with Jim, a freshman, who joins her when Charlie asks her to help Will. Neal helps with the show, writes Will’s blog and handles the uploading of the episodes. A small staff, all freshmen and sophomores, help make the show run.

The mission of Will, Mac and company is pretty much the same in the AU as it is on the show, but they’re specifically targeting their age group of college aged students, and also they play music.

I tried to go for a sort of college radio style mix here, and I’ve recast Will as Andrew Garfield and Mac as Emma Watson, to fit the age group, but everyone else is the same as they are on the show. Yes, I am doing an AU for a show that’s four episodes old. I love it.

All right, so I've chosen Tom Felton as my Moist von Lipwig. He's handsome but without any distinguishing features, he has the perfect smile for Moist, and when his hair is sandy brown/dirty blonde, rather than bleached for Malfoy, he has the color hair that I've always imagined Moist with. Also, he's pretty very good looking. Pic spam, who ask? Well, why not.

The last two photos and the last two gifs are really what makes him look like Moist to me. Also, I've picked Dianna Agron as my Sacharissa Cripslock. A gif in case you're not familiar with her. She's gorgeous and very, very sweet.

Okay, so I've ranted at least once on here about how awesome Terry Pratchett's Discworld series is, and how someday, maybe, I'm going to write awesome AU high-school fic for some of the characters? Well, I haven't written any of it really, but guess what I have done? Cast two of the main characters. Yeah, my Sam Vimes and William de Worde have been picked, folks. I know you're all excited to see what I've got, so let's see here:

I'm thinking someone along the lines of Tom Felton or Chord Overstreet for Moist von Lipwig, though it'd have to be when they weren't bleach blondes, because Moist, at least in my view, is dirty blonde. Leaning a little more towards the Tom persuasion, but that spots pretty much still wide open.

So, me and pandancer were discussing Glee, and how awesome it would be if they did a Matchbox 20 or Counting Crows or Augustana theme episode, and how those would be the only theme episodes that I would be okay with at all. And over the past couple of episodes, since about Furt, I've been compiling a list of Counting Crows songs that I think would be good for each character. And I'm sharing them now, because as I tell you guys all the time, I am insane and should be censored at all times. But since I'm not:

Finn:Colorblind- I thought this was perfect for Finn when all the stuff was just happening with Santana and Rachel, but now that Quinn's been thrown into the mix, holy shit, it's kind of perfect. Especially if Quinn ends up going back to Sam (which I sort of hope really happens), this would be a great song for how he's confused as all hell and alone, watching everyone around him get their shit together while his is kind of breaking apart. But he still has to be the leader of the Glee club, so he's just holding everything together with his fingertips and pretending he's fine. Also, I think this song is perfect for Cory's voice, and as much as a love Cory (which is lots, cause he's adorkable), there aren't many songs that are good for his voice.

Quinn and Sam: Accidentally in Love- It is cliched as all hell and I kind of love it. Once everything with Finn (hopefully) gets sorted out, I think this would be perfect for them to sing together. Maybe Sam starts in and is all adorable like he usually is, and Quinn eventually joins in. I don't know, I just want them to be all adorable and in love and sing this song together.

Puck, Artie and Santana: Big Yellow Taxi- Because Puck and Artie could totally pull of the this-is-really-carefree-but-we're-talking-about-serious-shit-here vibe this song has, and Puck on the "Late last night" line would just be amazing. Don't even pretend it wouldn't. And Santana and maybe Brittany providing the female vocals. It could be kind of like the introduction to the theme thing, like "Only the Good Die Young" was.

Puck (and Rachel): Mr. Jones- Puck would also be the shit on this song, because he could pull of the right amount of hurt and playfulness that this song has, and maybe he could duet with Rachel, maybe about getting out of Ohio and making it big. And he could be all, "Oh, Berry's in to me." And then Rachel, could be all "I don't need a man right now, plus, you're with Lauren now." And he'd be all "Shit, you're right." And this one damn song just created a whole bunch of plot.

Kurt and Blaine: Hanging Around- Just a fun, upbeat song for Blaine and Kurt to sing together, because they need more songs to sing together, and maybe, walk around downtown or something. Just how it's okay for them to be friends and hang around. And also, I need to see Darren Criss sing this song.

Kurt and Karofsky: Round Here- Because isn't that first verse just perfect for Karofsky? And Kurt could join on the short little chorus and take the second verse, and maybe it's a little bit about them coming to understand the other just a little. And the third verse would be kind of perfect for them both, and this song is just kind of perfect. And we know Max Adler can sing, he was a big show choir kid in high school, and I think this would be awesome for both of them. Maybe on a rainy day, Kurt at Dalton and Karofsky at McKinley, both trying to just figure everything out. This would could take place on either side of Hanging Around, but I think I prefer it after, like Kurt's living in one place in this world with Dalton and Blaine, but he certainly hasn't forgotten that old world.

Group: A Long December- I want this as the final group number. I don't really care whose singing where, but I kind of want Mercedes on this one, because I couldn't find any songs that really fit her otherwise, but other than that, maybe Finn and Puck are the best candidates. But I think this would be an awesome, slow group finish to kind of an emotional episode, with clips of Karofsky and Kurt/Blaine throughout, Fade to Black and all.

And on that note, could I just take a second to talk about how awesome Max Adler is? BECAUSE HE'S REALLY FUCKING AWESOME. He's really just like a big teddy bear in life, or at least what I've seen of him is, and he's adorable, AND HIS STORY LINE THIS SEASON HAS BEEN AMAZING, AND HE HAS DONE A FUCKING AMAZING JOB WITH IT. WHENEVER HE AND CHRIS-CO ARE IN A SCENE TOGETHER, I'M ALWAYS LIKE "IS THERE A FUCKING EPIC AWARD WE CAN GIVE THESE TWO RIGHT NOW? BECAUSE THEY ARE GODDAMN AMAZING." It makes me happy that there are young actors like them out there.

I also cuss a lot. More than normal people do. But it keeps me from going crazy, so I will probably continue to do so. That's why I put the warning in my profile, to avoid the whole easily-offended demographic. Okay, so I'm not normally a fan of rap. It's not that I hate it, or that I don't have rap songs that I like, but I don't go actively searching for new stuff, or listen to rap heavy radio stations. But I think I'm in love with both Lupe Fiasco and B.o.B. I'm not even really sure what it is, but I can't get enough of their music. It is a strange experience for me.

In other news, I've been itching to re-watch The Sing-Off, so maybe I will do some sort of giant squee about it over the weekend. And I know you're all very excited for that.

Also, I love iTunes Gift Cards, because I can just buy and buy with out worrying about it. It is immensely fun. And Andy and Erin need to get back together on The Office soon, because Gabe makes my sad and Andy/Erin makes me happy. And I've decided I like both Perfect Couples and Parks and Recreation. And Community is still as perfect as it ever was. Now, I just want Glee to come back and sing me pretty songs again.

All right, let's do a little review. I am by no means an expert, but I've been involved in music for quite awhile now, and these are my personal thoughts. They're by no means anything professional.

Groove For Thought: Their bassist, Jeff, is literally one of the best bassists I've ever heard. I mean, that's sick. Humans should not be able to do that. I almost wanted them to win just based on his bass lines. You could like, see the upright bass. Honest to God, at first I thought they were cheating and using instruments, he was that good. I love this group's vocals, between Peter and Amanda, I mean those are really amazing. And their second song this week was gorgeous. Their version of Cooler Than Me almost makes me weep with happiness, it's that cool. These guys are just coolness and sex and everything that's good about jazz. And I love their jazzy take on everything, and I loved the jazzy take on "Changes". And Amanda's voice was amazing, but that stutter and the fact that they didn't rock out didn't help them, and I knew they were in trouble. I'm sad to see them go, and not just because I will miss Jeff's absolutely sick basslines. JEFF WINS. YOU LOSE. PLAY THAT BASS BABY, SWAY THAT BOOTY. And goatee guy, who sang the Swan Song (I don't think we know his name), but, God, that dude was hilarious. I laughed every time he came on screen.

Committed: I'm honestly just not a fan of these guys. They have amazing vocals, I mean, just some killer harmonies, but I just don't think their stage presence is the same as the others. They have awesome vocals, but I just can't get behind them like I can the other groups. I was disappointed in their Police song, because they tried to do it like a love song, and it's not. It's an obsession song, and I didn't feel it. I felt Satisfaction, I felt Creep, I even felt Pour Some Sugar, but I didn't feel that song.

The Backbeats: COURTNEY. KENTON. They win. Other than that, I, again, am just not feeling this group. Their vocals are tight, the choreo is pretty good, but I just don't feel these 'emotional' songs they're doing. I was totally put off of their 'The Script' song, because I really feel like they needed a guy to just growl that. I mean, just take all that pain and growl and soar, and I was disappointed in their arrangement. But Courtney's beat box is awesome, and I wish that all of them had had Kenton and Courtney's energy on 'Love Shack' but they just haven't impressed me. I feel like Kenton was really into it, and Courtney was at the end, but I feel like the rest kind of just wanted to get it over with. Talented for sure, but just not the stage presence I think an a cappella group needs.

On The Rocks: Not the engaging group of college boys the The Bubs were, but very funny, obviously talented, and Alex, their beatboxer, was amazing, especially on Pour Some Sugar. And I'm not quite sure how I feel about the judges' stuff for them. One second they want them to be artists, and then they want them to be hardcore, edgy rock. But I really do love these guys, and I'm glad they moved on. Their guilty pleasure was really just fabulously cheesy ballad and I totally felt what Shawn was saying.

Jerry Lawson and the Talk of the Town: These guys are perfect. They don't try and fool you with fancy arrangements or choreo, they just go out and sing. They're just perfect. The falsetto, the bass, Jerry's voice, that scream, their song choices, the way they just own, how they have a unique stage presence, just everything. I'm just blown away by everything they do. "Save The Last Dance" is just perfect, and every other song they do just leaves you wanting more. There's nothing more I can say.

Street Corner Symphony: THEY WIN. NO SERIOUSLY. I LOVE THEM ALMOST TOO MUCH. I mean, Jeremy's vocals are out of this world. He's just a whole 'nother level of singer. You can just tell how talented he is the minute he opens his mouth. And I just love how they are together. Jo's beats are amazing, and the instrumentation is just awesome. And they make you feel every song. "Creep" was a masterpiece, and I've never felt more Irish than during "Come On Eileen". And I have strong Irish background. Every time Jon McLemore or Jeremy opens his mouth, I want to like hug babies and adopt puppies and promote world peace, it makes me that happy. I love how the tall/non-Jon beatboxer drinks water instead of a beer. I love that there were like nine tempos in "Eileen" and they handled it effortlessly. And have I mentioned how they make you feel, like deep-down-in-your-heart-and-soul-in-the-way-that-will-stay-with-you-forever kind of feel. THEY'RE MY FAVORITES, AND NOT JUST BECAUSE THEIR NAME IS A ROB THOMAS SONG. THAT JUST MAKES THEM EVEN BETTER.

And I love these judges. They're funny and present but they don't steal the show totally. And have I mentioned that I'M IN LOVE WITH BEN FOLDS AND HIS HAIR? I FEEL LIKE IT NEEDS TO BE SAID LOTS.
