The launch of the first Apple Pencil on iPad in 2015 marked a defining moment in our journey. It changed expectations overnight for how people could write, sketch, and think on a screen, and it pushed us to raise the bar for pen-first experiences. It is hard to believe now, but before Apple Pencil, handwriting on a screen often meant a chunky passive stylus, and your palm was basically the enemy. Smudges, stray strokes, and awkward hand positions were just part of the deal. Apple Pencil has come a long way since then. Magnetic charging, very low latency, squeeze, barrel roll, and haptic feedback make it a genuinely great tool, and they keep opening the door to new interactions for our users. Day 1, the show opened at full speed — so many people, especially during the first hours! It’s inspiring to see entire classes and even very young students discovering the tools shaping the classrooms of today and tomorrow. One thing that stands out this year: handwriting is making a strong comeback. Many exhibitors are presenting solutions that use writing and digitalization to better support teachers. That said, an important point to keep in mind — when handwriting data from students is used to train large language models, there’s a real need for awareness around data protection and ethical AI practices. And finally… a special mention for the Magma Maths UK costumes — they definitely brought smiles all day long! #BETT2026 #EdTech
