There is an image on a page, but it is hard to find its URL. How can I perform a reverse search on this image without the hassle to first find and download this image source?
In most cases, images are embedded as background images, and hence it is not easy to find the actual source of them. This extension solves the problem by providing an "Image Search (capture)" context menu item. Select this item from the page context menu, and capture a portion of the screen. The captured image is automatically sent to the Google Images server, and after successful upload, a new page with the results of your search will appear. You can alternatively press the action button.

How does the extension perform its reverse searches?
This extension only sends your requests to either Google Images or TinEye engine to perform the search for you. The purpose of this extension is to ease this process for you as a middle man.
What is TinEye?
TinEye is a reverse image search engine developed and offered by Idée, Inc., a company based in Toronto, Canada. It claims to be "the first image search engine on the web to use image identification technology rather than keywords, metadata or watermarks". TinEye allows users to search not using keywords but with images. Upon submitting an image, TinEye creates a "unique and compact digital signature or fingerprint" of the image and matches it with other indexed images. This procedure can match even heavily edited versions of the submitted image, but will not usually return similar images in the results.
