What our clients say about us

The Importance of Infant Swimming Resource (ISR)

Ensuring the safety and well-being of your child is your top priority. At our ISR swimming school in San Diego, CA, we are dedicated to providing the highest level of water safety training for infants and young kids. Infant Swimming Resource (ISR) is a specialized program designed to equip your baby with essential self-rescue skills that could be life-saving. Here’s why enrolling your baby in ISR lessons is one of the best decisions you can make for their safety and development.

About ISR

ISR believes pool fences, supervision, and pool alarms are important parts of a necessary multi-layered approach to drowning prevention. However, traditional lines of defense break down, and the over 4,000 drowning deaths per year bear a grim testament to the fact that traditional approaches are missing a key component: the child. ISR’s core conviction is that the child is the most important part of a drowning prevention strategy and our over 500,000 ISR graduates and over 1,000 documented survival stories are proof that children can save themselves.

Proven Survival Skills

ISR is not just about teaching children to swim; it’s about teaching them to survive. Our program focuses on:

  • Self-Rescue Techniques: ISR lessons teach your baby how to roll onto their back to float, rest, and breathe, which can be critical if they ever find themselves in water unsupervised.
  • Personalized Instruction: Each child receives one-on-one attention from certified ISR instructors, ensuring that lessons are tailored to their unique needs, abilities, and learning pace.

Brad Hurvitz

Hello there! My name is Brad Hurvitz and I’ve been teaching ISR swim lessons in San Diego for the past 7 years. I’ve taught more than 1,000 children to swim, float and self-rescue in the pool. I come to the pool everyday with a smile on my face because I feel extremely lucky to spend my time teaching children one of the most important skills in life. Every child is my top priority and I do everything in my power to ensure they are successful and the entire family has a positive experience during lessons. Prior to teaching ISR swimming lessons to babies and toddlers. I graduated from Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo and received an MBA from Oregon State University. Spending my time helping others has always been a priority to me. In 2009 I ventured to rural India to teach at a boarding school for 5 months, shortly after I started a nonprofit company (Trek to Teach) that improves the educational opportunities for students in the rural Himalayas of Nepal. Combining my passions of helping others and swimming were simple to do once I watched a local ISR Instructor teach my niece. Her skills progressed quickly and her confidence flourished. I knew that I wanted to learn the ISR process and become an Instructor.
