Gnomes!

Tonight I was checking out the Dungeon Dozen, when I ran across this most excellent picture by Jason Sholtis:

City gardens overrun by gnomes. Citizens advised to avoid eye-contact, report sightings to Imperial Ministry of Pest Control. (J. Sholtis)

Henceforth in my campaigns, all Gnomes shall have elongated skulls. This, obviously, is the reason for the pointy hats.

Nostalgia Kick

So I’ve been on something of a nostalgia kick for the past few weeks. It started when I stumbled upon Jason Scott’s BBS Documentary and was reminded of my old modem days. From there I moved onto his Interactive Fiction (IF) documentary GET Lamp.

I originally encountered Zork the same year I was introduced to Dungeons & Dragons and CYoA, and still associate all these strongly with one another. Zork blew my mind; I played it on a friend’s Atari 8-bit computer, but could never get very far in my brief sessions. Still, my imagination was piqued by the game…
