Product Management & Capability

Brief Introduction #

Products and listings are the foundation of any marketplace. They define what customers can discover, compare, and purchase across different stores.

With MultiVendorX, product management is no longer just about creating listings – it is about controlling how stores create, manage, and distribute products within your marketplace ecosystem.

This system gives marketplace owners full control over:

  • What stores can do with products
  • What types of products can be created
  • How product data is structured
  • How listings appear across the marketplace
  • How multiple stores interact with the same product

This ensures your marketplace stays structured, scalable, and aligned with your business model.

Store Product Permissions #

Store product permissions define what actions a store is allowed to perform when managing products or listings. You can find this settings under MultiVendorX >> Settings >> Marketplace >> Store Configuration >> Store Permission

These permissions help you control the entire product lifecycle – from creation to publication.

Product management actions #

You can control whether stores are allowed to:

  1. View products – When enabled, stores are allowed to access their product dashboard where they can see all products they have created or been assigned.
  2. Add new products – When enabled, stores are allowed to create new products directly from their dashboard. This includes filling product details, uploading images, and submitting products for review or publishing. When disabled, stores cannot create any new products. In this case, product creation becomes entirely controlled by the admin, and stores will depend on admin-assigned listings.
  3. Edit existing products – When enabled, stores can edit products that are not yet finalized or published. This typically includes draft or pending products.
  4. Edit already published products – When enabled, stores are allowed to modify products that are already live on the marketplace.
  5. Publish products directly – When enabled, stores can publish products directly without requiring admin approval.
    • Products go live instantly after creation
    • No review stage is required
    • If disabled, all products created by stores will remain in a pending state until the admin reviews and publishes them.
  6. Review and update previously approved products – When enabled, any changes made by stores to already approved or published products will be sent into a review workflow. This means:
    • Store edits do not go live immediately
    • Admin must approve updates before they are visible
  7. Upload media and files – When enabled, stores are allowed to upload media files such as:
    • Product images
    • Gallery images
    • Videos
    • Downloadable files

Product & Listing Preferences #

This section defines what types of products stores are allowed to create in the marketplace.

It controls the fundamental nature of your marketplace (physical, digital, or hybrid).

  • You can get this settings via MultiVendorX >> Settings >> Product >> Product/listing preferences
  • On the Product page, you can enable product types like virtual and downloadable. Only enable them if your product meets the description –
    • Virtual – Intangible product that does not require shipping
    • Downloadable – Another intangible product but one that can be downloaded.
  • Skip the previous part if not required and jump to the Product Tabs option. Select the tabs you want to enable and there you have it!

Product Editing Page Blocks #

This system controls what sections appear in the product creation and editing interface for stores.

Instead of a fixed form, the marketplace owner can decide which product fields are visible and usable.

  • General Information
    • When enabled, stores can define basic product details including:
    • Product title
    • Description
    • Pricing
  • Stock & Inventory : When enabled, stores can manage:
    • SKU (Stock Keeping Unit)
    • Stock quantity
    • Inventory availability
  • Related Products – When enabled, stores can define product relationships such as:
    • Upsells (higher-value suggestions)
    • Cross-sells (complementary products)
    • Related products
  • Policies – When enabled, stores can define their own:
    • Return policies
    • Refund policies
    • Warranty terms
  • Product Tags – When enabled, stores can add tags to products for:
    • Better search visibility
    • Filtering
    • Categorization
    • When disabled, tagging is not available and products rely only on categories.
