Here's another thing guys. I don't wanna be all "I'm running this show, in your face, etc." I wanna make sure everyone stays happy. We are now officially out of suggestions. If there aren't any suggestions made by the time new winners are posted, I'll just have to pick something myself. But as I said, I just want everyone to be happy here! I want it to be the same here as it is at svu_challenge.

Hi guys. Well, there is ONE entry for this week's challenge. So we'll be extending this challenge to Sunday. If we don't have at least 8 entries by Sunday evening.. then we'll make a new challenge and just scrap this one.. Anyone have a problem with that? Just let me know if so. I just don't know if it's the challenge itself that's keeping people from entering, or if people are just busy, which I totally understand either way. Let me know guys.

Hello, my name is Biggie. I have contacted iamsab and I now have the "authority" (pronounced authoritiiii) to post a new challenge, and new challenges. I'm making a few changes to the rules ok? The first one is I'll be making polls because frankly, I'm too lazy to count the votes myself and that's most of the reason I bought a paid account anyway. The second is that if winners don't post a new picture within three days of finding out that they've won, I'll choose new pictures. I understand that everyone has lives, and it takes time. one hot cop.

1. croppeth the image.

2. standard screencap cleanup...

  2.1. duplicate image, set to overlay.
  2.2. duplicate image again, set to screen.
  2.3. duplicate image again, desaturate and set to soft light.

[this highlights the features of the image. sometimes not all layers are needed, just turn them on and off to see the various effects].

3. add stock lighting effect. i originally chose some box lights [take one image with lots of features in it, run a 'maximum' filter over it to create a series of, well, glowing boxes i guess], however that didn't work out as well as i thought, so i used some glowy stuff i had sitting around. most of my stocks i create from scratch using photoshop filters, but some are from photos i've taken. from what i've seen good stocks have the main light located in one corner, so when you use it the image isn't overridden. and don't quote me on that, i've only just started using them as lighting effects, i normally stick to colour. *grin*

4. set the stock lighting layer to hard light, or screen depending on the predominant colour of the stock [hard light for a light stock, screen for a dark].

5. run a gradient over the image to fade it. i used a gradient that was light purple in one corner, through to a pale pink in the middle and then cream in the other corner. set the gradient layer to screen.

6. add a feature bar. or something. what, it looks pretty!

7. add text. the text i chose was 'losing what we were', which is a jack johnson lyric. to get the funky text colour effect, put it behind the screened gradient layer [with a text colour of black]. this picks up the colour of the gradient.

8. add a border and we're done.

what. i said it was basic, didn't i? *grin*
