Master Bath Reborn!

The New Bathroom

We just completed a job that was so rewarding. A master bath circa 1989 has a whole new look! Gone is the framed shower replaced with frameless heavy glass. Gone is the old cultured marble vanity top replaced with quartz, square sinks and new hardware. Gone are the old sagging cabinets replaced with new white ones, complete with a tower. Add white Chantilly Lace paint and new light fixtures (love the overhead one!) and you’ve got a bath you’d hardly recognize. The old tub was going to go, but the grandchildren think it’s a pool…so it stays for now! Some things are more important than design.

Let us tackle your baths or kitchen. Even if it’s just a few jobs like tile or heavy glass showers…it all makes a difference!

Today it is a thriving non-profit distributing clothing at no cost to women & children in crisis all over the Metro area.

Parker vs The Fairy Garden

I don’t have to tell you who wins. This fairy garden is a great way to involve your kids in a whimsical gardening experience. We had Ms. Fixit help us sculpt an area for this, then found all our broken pots for houses, ordered fairies, trolls & furniture online, and let our imaginations go wild.

If you thought your kids enjoyed a doll house, wait till you turn them loose outside to play.

Warning: be prepared to put it back together once the kids discover it! This 3 year old went through it like a hurricane. It was adorable.

The Bug Dance!

It’s finally warm, but those darn cicadas are everywhere. Want to go outside without being bombarded? We discovered an easy fix. We bought a gazebo at a nearby big box hardware store, had Ms. Fixit put it up, then positioned weather proof fans at each corner. The bugs can’t penetrate the breeze. Side bonus? We stay nice and cool. We are just so happy to be able to use our newly hardscaped backyard (we have awesome masons) and outdoor kitchen. Yesterday we did smoked ribs and branzino outside with a nice chilled rose’. Don’t let those pesky bugs put a damper on your summer!

Home Tricks

We all can’t redo our homes like we dream of, but we can make small changes that will make us feel happier and more content. Here are some of the things that work:

 

 

Add mirrors! Placed correctly, mirrors reflect light and can enlarge any space. We have a huge mirror manufacturing group and can custom make and hang any mirrors. Easy and inexpensive!

 

 

Take a closet that is not being used to the maximum and put a complete system in there to make it work for you. We have many types of shelving and design ideas for any closet.

 

Lighting can totally transform a space. Try for mood lighting to reflect all different times of day. There are many new products on the market today that can be programmed. And the easiest difference of all? Clean your windows two times per year! Let the light in!

There’s Something Rotten in the DMV!

Nearly every submission this week has involved rotten woodwork. We all have it…we just tend to ignore it. Guess what? It won’t go away on it’s own!

You’ll find it in your outside trim, soffits, door frames, etc. Inside, it’s commonly found in wet spaces like basements and bathrooms.

Our Team is uniquely qualified to replace & repair, even paint to match. These are some of those minor jobs that we hate to spend money on, but they must be fixed or they lead to something much worse. We can handle the BIG jobs, too.
