UPDATE: A Tale of Two Fathers (or The Parent Inception)

Title: A Tale of Two Fathers (or The Parent Inception)
Pairings: Arthur/Eames, Arthur/Robert, Arthur/Cobb (past relationship)
Rating: PG13 to start, Hard R to finish
Word Count: 40,121 (Complete)
Summary: It's The Parent Trap, Inception-style. Arthur and Eames are divorced with twin sons (biologically Arthur's born to a surrogate mother). The boys, separated from infanthood, accidentally meet at camp. You know the rest.

The two boys are almost immediately whispering and giggling with each other, carrying the suitcases from the driveway into the house and leaving Arthur and Eames alone.

It's awkward.

There's no other way to describe it.

He tries to hug Eames and Eames tries to shake his hand. Then they switch intentions and are off from each others' movements again with Eames going for a hug and Arthur offering his hand.

Luckily Eames smirks instead of frowning when Arthur barks out a laugh and the tension is broken.

"I suppose this will get easier with time," he says

Arthur doesn't know if that means he feels the same dull ache in his chest at wondering how things might have been between them now if they'd stayed together. But he's certainly not going to ask.

Link to Chapter Five on AO3

Fic update: A Tale of Two Fathers (The Parent Inception)

Title: A Tale of Two Fathers (or The Parent Inception)
Pairings: Arthur/Eames, Arthur/Robert
Rating: PG13 for now, will go up
Word Count: 13,192
Summary: It's The Parent Trap, Inception-style. Arthur and Eames are divorced with twin sons (biologically Arthur's born to a surrogate mother). The boys, separated from infanthood, accidentally meet at camp. You know the rest.

"So we should come to you, I'm assuming? Or would you rather come here?"

"I ... I don't know. You're coming, too?"

"Don't be thick, Arthur. Of course. We've let this go on for far too long. Best to all get together and sort it. I'm not going to just put Forrest on a plane and say goodbye, am I. Is that what you want?"

He can feel a little of the old anger starting to rise.

"No. No, of course not. We should all be together. And besides, Forrest will have to commit passport fraud again just by traveling here. He'll need an adult, just in case. I just ... I didn't think ... "

" ... you'd see me darken your doorstep again?"

"Well ... yes, if we're being honest."

"I promise to be on my very best behavior, darling."

Oh fuck! Where the bloody hell did that come from? It's just too damn easy to slip back into teasing Arthur, even all these years later, now that they're apparently being civil. He'll have to really watch himself.

Link to AO3

New Fic: A Tale of Two Fathers (or The Parent Inception)

Title: A Tale of Two Fathers (or The Parent Inception)
Pairings: Arthur/Eames, Arthur/Robert
Rating: PG13 for now, will go up in last two chapters
Word Count: 6,145
Summary: It's The Parent Trap, Inception-style. Arthur and Eames are divorced with twin sons (biologically Arthur's born to a surrogate mother). The boys, separated from infanthood, accidentally meet at camp. You know the rest.

"Tell me what to expect at the airport when I first arrive," Forrest says. "Will he be waiting for me?"

"I'm certain he will. We've never been apart for this long ... " Hugh's voice catches a bit. He hopes Forrest doesn't notice. "Father always said he had to fight so hard to keep me when I was a baby that he didn't want to ever send me away to school and such. I don't quite know how I convinced him to let me come all the way to America for six whole weeks."

When he risks a glance, he sees that Forrest is looking at the floor and scuffing his trainer toes.

"It's hard to imaging Dad being the one fighting him so hard. He's always so nice to everybody."

"Yeah, well, obviously he didn't try to take me away or anything, because I'm still living with my father and not yours. I think he's just always worried, because, well, we're not biological, you know, so he was afraid that your father ... that he ... that your dad would try to take me back."

"He wouldn't! He's not like that!"

Link to AO3

Fic update: Experimental Conclusions

Title: Experimental Conclusions (Chapter 3 of 3) sequel to The Camp Evergreen Experiment
Pairings: Arthur/Eames, Arthur/OMC (briefly)
Rating: R
Word Count: 15,292
Summary: Arthur is on spring break and enlists his sister's help to spend the whole vacation visiting Eames in Chicago without their parents knowing. He has some goals for the trip.

Not that the upcoming visit is completely without stress. Arthur has a few things wants to accomplish between now and next Sunday morning.

First off, and most-importantly, he wants to work up the courage to use "the L word." They've been dancing around it on the phone and in chats for at least a month. But Arthur hasn't been brave enough to actually say it (or type it). And, anyway, he figures it's the kind of thing that's better to do in person for the first time.

Regardless, he has no doubt that he is in love with Eames. He'd spent so long studiously ignoring any feelings deeper than friendship between them, because they scared the Hell out of him. But it's gotten to the point where even Arthur can't deny it any longer.

The second thing is somehow even more terrifying. He wants to raise the idea of having sex-sex together. He knows Eames isn't entirely comfortable with the idea, or at least he hadn't been eight months earlier when the subject had awkwardly come up between them at camp. And Arthur hardly even understands how it works anyway, if he's being honest. But he feels like two people who are committed and exclusive and, gulp, in love, should probably at least consider it.

He's tried, at length, to imagine it, but he honestly can't. He always defaults back to thinking about the things he knows how to do. He spent a little time looking online, but the results he'd found were kind of scary--and kind of hot--but mostly confusing. He'd given up and figured that Eames would know more about it than him, anyway, having been aware of his own sexuality for far longer.

Link to AO3

Fic update: Experimental Conclusions chapter 2 of 3

Title: Experimental Conclusions (Chapter 2 of 3) sequel to The Camp Evergreen Experiment
Pairings: Arthur/Eames, Arthur/OMC (briefly)
Rating: R
Word Count: 8,219
Summary: Arthur goes on a college visit and arranges to spend the night at Eames' dorm afterward. But their relationship is still very much up in the air and he has no idea what to expect from the trip.

Things had been almost awkward between them on the phone while planning the visit. Arthur had felt a bit worried about telling Eames that he couldn't see him until after his day of touring Northwestern, not wanting any distractions from the experience. Eames had insisted that Arthur didn't need to stay with him so many times that Arthur couldn't help worrying, just a little bit, that maybe Eames didn't want him there. He was pretty sure Eames was just trying not to presume anything, but it was hard not to feel confused about the situation.
They aren't back together and he has no idea what Eames wants in that regard. Maybe he wants to be Arthur's boyfriend again now. But maybe he just wants to hook up with him and then carry on the same as they've done all school year so far. Or maybe he just wants to be friends.

Arthur would like to get back together, but only if they're really going to do it. He's thought really hard about the idea of an open relationship and he knows he couldn't handle it. He doesn't want to let anything happen with Eames until he knows where they stand. But he also knows it's going to be awfully hard to turn Eames down, even if they don't want the same thing.

He is fucking starving for physical affection, and, not to be crude, but for someone to make him come. Before Eames he'd kissed one person per year and not really felt all that deprived by the sparseness of this arrangement. But it's been about four months since camp ended and he's absolutely dying for any kind of contact.
Link to AO3

Camp Evergreen Sequel: Experimental Conclusions: Chapter 1

Title: Experimental Conclusions (Chapter 1 of 3) sequel to The Camp Evergreen Experiment
Pairings: Arthur/Eames, Arthur/OMC (briefly)
Rating: PG-13 for now
Word Count: 3,928
Summary: Arthur is just finishing up his final high school tennis season and reflects on all the ways his life has changed since camp ended and he and Eames started their long-distance not-relationship, an arrangement he may be starting to regret.

He'd tried jerking off thinking about Jamie a couple of times, but he always ended up just thinking about Eames. No matter who he tries thinking about--actors, musicians, his dentist's sexy assistant with the skin-tight tee-shirts--he always finishes thinking about Eames.

They've emailed pretty regularly over the past couple of months. Arthur isn't sure how much Eames is holding back about his college life, but he seems pretty open and candid, anyway. He apparently loves his classes--especially life drawing--gets along with his roommate, spends a lot of time exploring Chicago while it's still warm enough to venture around freely, and is growing out his hair.

Arthur tells Eames most things about his life. Although he had censored a fairly eventful story about Lux, because it touched on some uncomfortable subjects.

Link to AO3

Fic update: The Teacher and the Cheater (now complete with chapter four and an epilogue!)

Title: The Teacher and the Cheater
Author: mrsdstephens, SamanthaStephens
Characters: Arthur/Eames, Arthur/ Robert (Past Relationship) Ariadne, Yusuf, Cobb
Rating: NC-17
Word Count: 39,704
Summary: Academia-AU In which Arthur is a frustrated young professor in his first tenure-track position at a university in Manhattan. Eames is a too-smart-for-his-own-good guy he keeps running into around town--one who has a secret. Happy ending guaranteed, no matter how dire it looks in the excerpt below.

Eames' face is full of concern when he opens the door, clearly picking up on Arthur's distress. Before he can find the right words, Arthur shoves the paper into Eames' hands. Either he'll recognize it or he won't.

Arthur's heart breaks a little when he sees Eames' horrified reaction as he looks down at the paper. There's no disguising that he knows exactly what Arthur is accusing him of doing. He doesn't even try to deny it. In fact, he looks almost as sad as Arthur feels. At least that probably means that he didn't know the paper he'd written was for one of Arthur's students. It's a small comfort, but Arthur is glad to know he wasn't intentionally targeted or taken advantage of, just caught in a very ugly, very unfortunate coincidence.

"Arthur, I ..." Eames starts, voice filled with contrition.

But Arthur interrupts his apology: "Don't ever call me again. Delete my information from your email. Forget we ever met."

Eames looks devastated. Some tiny part of Arthur feels glad that Eames seems just as heartbroken about the end of this thing between them as he does.

Maybe that's what compels him to say: "I'm not going to turn you in. But you could have gotten me fired. So don't ever acknowledge that you know me. From now on, we are strangers."

Link to chapter 4 here

Camp Evergreen Artwork

Furoato posted some links to some absolutely devastatingly wonderful artwork for The Camp Evergreen Experiment in the comments of the last chapter. I'm reposting them here, as well as a link and another link to the original Tumblr posts.

I cannot say thank you enough. I'm in love with them!

Arthur:

Eames:

Kissing under the oak tree behind the soccer field, as mentioned in Chapter 13:

Eames' drawing of the camp's dock, which he gives Arthur for his birthday in Chapter 17:

All credit goes to Furoato for this stunning work.

Title: The Camp Evergreen Experiment (Chapter 19 out of 19)
Pairings: Arthur/Eames, Dom/Mal, Ariadne/Robert, Arthur/Robert (pining only), Yusuf/OFC
Rating: R
Word Count: 75,401
Summary: In which camp ends and Arthur and Eames have a hard time coping with that reality.
Warning: Angst. But I promise it will be resolved in the three-chapter sequel that is already fully outlined.

"What are you planning on doing in here that you're so concerned about privacy?" Eames asks, smirking. "I thought we were just having a kip."
"Well maybe a little more than sleeping."
"How much more?"
Arthur shrugs.
"This much more?" Eames asks, reaching out and grabbing Arthur's hand.
"Maybe."
"This much more?"
He leans forward and kisses Arthur's cheek.
"Just a little more."
"This much?"
He oh so gently brushes his lips against Arthur's.
"That all you got?"
"No. I might have a thing or two reserved."
"Well?" Arthur arches his eyebrow in challenge.

Link to chapter 19 on AO3

Fic: A Special Kind of Pen Pal

Title: A Special Kind of Pen Pal
Pairings: Arthur/Eames
Rating: NC-17
Word Count: 4,253 (first three chapters)
Summary: Arthur and Eames have been sending each other sex tapes and sexy pics for more than two years. Now Dom is headed to Mombassa to get Eames to join the inception team and they're going to see each other for the first time since they became pen pals.
Warning: Original characters are sometimes taped having sex without their consent, although the sex itself is 100 percent consensual.

This was previously posted, although never finished, at the second Kink Fest, here.

"Eames," he says. "I realize this is a little bit different than my usual. But I'm pretty sure you're going to be on your way to Paris by tomorrow morning and I want you to know that while I argued strenuously with Cobb over recruiting you for this project, I can't help but be a little worked up at the idea of seeing you again after so long. I was so anxious, in fact, that while I knew I had to make one more video for you before you arrived, I couldn't be bothered to find someone to help me out. So instead I'm going to take a nice, hot shower and see if I can't relax a bit."
At this Arthur offers a grin that he knows is lopsided and a bit boyish, then steps back to turn on the water.
He takes his time soaping up his arms and chest and rinsing them off in a way that makes sure to put his body in front of the camera's lens. Then he bends over and soaps his legs, making sure his ass is right up on display. After rinsing for far longer than is traditional necessary, he decides to tease a bit and winks at the camera while he pauses to wash his hair. He keeps grinning as he does a quick condition and rinse, imagining Eames swearing at the video for taking up time doing something so dull.
After another minute, he turns the shower's pressure way down, looks right at the camera and says: "The hot water feels so nice, but I'm still all tense and anxious thinking about you coming. Coming here, where I live. I think I'm going to have to try to relax a little harder."

Link to first three chapters on AO3

Title: The Camp Evergreen Experiment (Chapters 17 and 18 out of 19)
Pairings: Arthur/Eames, Dom/Mal, Ariadne/Robert, Arthur/Robert (pining only)
Rating: R
Word Count: 68,031 (First 18 Chapters)
Summary: In which Arthur finally turns 17 and has some birthday surprises. Unfortunately, the end of camp is also rapidly approaching and he and Eames experience quite a lot of angst when they finally confront this fact.

Arthur has been emotional all day about Eames' special, top-secret early morning birthday party and he needs to touch him as much as possible, right freaking now. He pushes Eames gently back against the table and is trying to ease him into lying back on it when Eames breaks away.
"Hold on a tic," he rolls off the table and away from Arthur, who actually whines in complaint.
"I've a present for you. And I'm a touch nervous about it, so ... just let me ... I don't want to say, 'get it out of the way,' but perhaps I do?"
   Arthur laughs.
"OK let's see it. Although you really didn't have to get me anything. The wake-up-call was seriously more than enough."
"Well I didn't get you anything," Eames says, and Arthur prepares for innuendo. But he's surprised when Eames whispers, "I made it."

Link to chapter 17 on AO3

Now they're treasure hunters looking for one big score to set them both for life. Enter Saito, who is in need of a team to locate a hundreds-year-old shipwreck and extract the goods from its innards. But they're going to need the help of Arthur's former rival, Eames, as well as gas chemist Yusuf and galley cook Ariadne, to pull this mission off with any success. Arthur is forced to confront a lot of misconceptions about Eames and to question his blind loyalty to Dom as they repeatedly find themselves in dangerous situations and are forced to learn to trust each other above all else.

Fic and art masterpost on AO3
Art masterpost on Tsuminoaru's journal

Fic Update: The Camp Evergreen Experiment (Chapter 16)

Title: The Camp Evergreen Experiment (Chapter 16)
Pairings: Arthur/Eames, Dom/Mal, Ariadne/Robert, Arthur/Robert (pining only)
Rating: R
Word Count: 58,191 (First 16 Chapters)
Summary: In which Arthur and Eames spend their day off in town and have several confrontations with other counselors once they get back to camp, although that doesn't prevent them from having a good time together as well.

Arthur can hardly concentrate during the movie. Eames starts out holding his hand, but he eventually migrates to resting his palm on Arthur's knee, which then turns into stroking his hand up and down Arthur's thigh.
Arthur is shifting around in his chair, absolutely dying to turn and kiss Eames, but too proud to resort to making out in the movie theater like a damn cliche (or like his sister who once had to call their parents to pick her up when she'd gotten in trouble for "lewd acts" during a movie). So instead he lifts his arm and curls it partway around Eames's shoulder, then slowly inches his fingers upward to stroke the back of Eames's neck and card through his short hair. Arthur feels momentarily better when Eames starts rolling his neck and leaning into Arthur's touch. But the victory is fleeting, as now Arthur only wants him more.
When the movie ends, Arthur has to take a moment to adjust himself before the lights come up. He's embarrassed at the idea that anyone else might have noticed, but he sincerely hopes that Eames does.
"You are bloody killing me," Eames leans over and whispers in his ear.
Link to Chapter 16 on AO3

He shows up for a new job not quite sure what to expect, nervous that Arthur will be upset by their flirtation. But he's in for a surprise, a few of them.

   "Dinner?"
"Sure. Do you know a place?"
"One of my former classmates recommended something. Right around the corner on 14th, across from the Treasury."
"Excellent. Should we wait for Dom to return, or are they having a family meal?"
   "Just us."
"Can you give me a few minutes? I just want to finish reading this last bit."
"That's fine. I want to go back and freshen up a bit anyway."
   Eames looks up, concerned.
"How posh is this place? You look much more presentable than I at the moment."
"It's not fancy," Arthur says, looking Eames over. "And you look great."
Then he leans forward, so his hand is casually resting on Eames' thigh and whispers, "It's not the other people in the restaurant I want to look good for," before standing and heading for the door, leaving Eames at his desk, mouth agape at Arthur's boldness.
"Reservation's at seven," he calls over his shoulder as he leaves.
Well this is certainly a different side to Arthur than Eames has seen before.

On AO3

But a chance meeting with Eames has him thinking about future opportunities.

"Hey," Arthur says. "I know you."

   "So you do," Eames-slash-Charlie says.
Arthur isn't quite sure of the etiquette for running into one's almost-certainly criminal acquaintance on the street. And if he does, how he should say they know each other.
He's sober enough to pretend that he's forgotten the other man's name.
   "Remind me again ..."
Eames-as-he's-most-often-called grins fit to burst, clearly impressed with Arthur's read of the situation.

   On AO3

Fic update: The Teacher and the Cheater (chapter 3)

Title: The Teacher and the Cheater
Characters: Arthur/Eames, Arthur/ Robert (Past Relationship) Ariadne, Yusuf, Cobb
Rating: NC-17
Word Count: 27,217 (total so far)
Summary: Academia-AU In which Arthur is a frustrated young professor in his first tenure-track position at a deliberately unnamed institution in Manhattan. Eames is a too-smart-for-his-own-good guy he keeps running into around town--one who has a secret.

Arthur thinks about Eames's hands and mouth and cock throughout the morning's class discussion.
Then he thinks about Eames's arms and chest and abs during his lunch meeting, when the dean of the history department asks Arthur to fill in for a professor with a sick mother-in-law and represent them at a conference in Washington the following weekend.
He reserves Eames's ass for the long stretch of afternoon office hours, which may have been a mistake, because he can't close the door and take matters into his own hands, so to speak. It's not until after 4:00 that he realizes he's completely forgotten to do any post-date Google stalking. Perhaps it really was paradigm-shifting sex.

Full chapter here

Fic update: Camp Evergreen chapter 13

Title: The Camp Evergreen Experiment (Chapter 13)
Pairings: Arthur/Eames, Dom/Mal, Ariadne/Robert, Arthur/Robert (pining only)
Rating: We've finally reached R!
Word Count: 45,041 (first 13 chapters)
Summary: One more previously anonymously posted chapter in which Arthur seeks to take his relationship with Eames to the next level, physically.

Speaking of discovery and fresh experiences, Arthur needs to figure out a smooth way to advance his and Eames's nightly make-out sessions to the next level. The problem is, he doesn't really know what the next level exactly would entail. I mean he's not stupid, he knows it will involve finally, <i>finally</i> getting each other off in some way, shape or form. But he isn't sure how to get there without being totally clumsy and laughably inexperienced. He knows Eames probably wouldn't laugh at him, but he still feels a little scared at the idea.
They've never really even touched each other below the waist while making out--although Eames did squeeze his knee once while they were sitting next to each other on the porch and sharing a fairly chaste, closed-mouth kiss. Aside from that brief second of contact in the art hut that first time, their bodies never touch beyond their hands and arms. Eames always keeps them decisively apart.
Arthur would really like to amend this situation, but he's incredibly nervous about how to proceed. Every night, just when they're getting to that same point where Arthur's entire body feels warm all over and he's on the verge of losing all his cool and just pushing himself up against Eames and humping his leg like a dog, Eames pulls away and says they should go to bed.
   He must rectify this situation.

Link to chapter 13 on AO3

Later they have an adorably awkward incident.

"Well if you think kissing me is such a horrible idea, Eames," Arthur says and takes a step closer, "then why did you do it?"
   "Couldn't help myself. I wish I hadn't done."
Arthur takes another tiny step closer.
   "Seriously?"
Eames is looking at him with an expression of pure agony on his face.
"Arthur don't," he begs. "Please. Please don't do this to me. It's not nice."
"Eames," Arthur says. "I'm not going to kiss you..."
Eames lets out a relieved breath, but he also frowns a tiny bit with what looks like regret.
"...But I would very much like you to kiss me, if you want."

Link to chapter on AO3

He's has more thoughts racing through his mind right now than ever before, and no one to confide them in anymore.
He wonders if he could bring himself to talk to Eames about his jealousy. Yes, the art counselor apparently knows what's going on in Arthur's head in terms of Robert and Ari. But that doesn't mean Arthur has the guts to open up to him about it using actual words, rather than whatever form of psychic signals Eames has been reading up to this point.
Footsteps shake the wood beneath his back and Arthur sits up to see Eames walking toward him--as if summoned by his thoughts.
"OK that is fucking creepy," he thinks. "Maybe Eames really is actually psychic or something. Oh God, I hope not. How embarrassing. Although it would explain how he'd so thoroughly owned me in three truths and a lie on the first day."
   "Mind some company?" Eames asks.

Link to this chapter on AO3

Once inside, Eames lights an electric lantern and hands Arthur a beer.
"You looked like you really needed to get out of there, yeah," he says, with a tiny, sympathetic smile on his lips.
Arthur is torn between opening up and telling Eames everything and lashing out at the older boy for inserting himself into Arthur's misery.
"Thanks," he simply says. "I don't really want to talk about it though."
"Fair enough," Eames shrugs. "I really do have a few things that need doing, although you can just sit there and drink if you want."
Arthur wants to help, he really does, but finds himself slumped in the corner, nursing the cheap beer.

Link to this chapter on AO3

Fic update: Chapters 4-6

Title: The Camp Evergreen Experiment (Chapters 4-6)
Pairings: Arthur/Eames, Dom/Mal, Ariadne/Robert, Arthur/Robert (pining only)
Rating: PG-13 for now, eventually R
Word Count: 18,074 (first six chapters)
Summary: Three more previously anonymously posted chapters, in which Robert sends mixed signals, Arthur starts a prank war, Eames retaliates, Cobb is dangerous and Arthur maybe makes friends with his enemy.

He finds his mind turning to Eames, on whom he's softened again after seeing the four-wall display of paper campers that the art counselor had arranged beautifully in his little hut. Eames would definitely know how to pull a great prank. Arthur has no doubt in his mind about it: Eames is the one to impress here, and he's the one who is going to devise the retribution plan.
Arthur thinks that they need to strike a delicate balance between a prank that's good enough to make the older counselors laugh in spite of themselves, but gentle enough not to cause serious reprocussions.
"What would Eames do?" he mumbles, not even realizing that he's speaking out loud at first.
   "Huh?" Ari responds.
Arthur holds up a finger, silencing her as an idea dawns on him. She makes a lip-zipping motion and stands attentive, while Robert shifts on his feet uncomfortably.
"I've got it. But we'll need to enlist all of the junior counselors. Let's start a staff war!" Arthur says in a very loud stage whisper.
"Hells yeah!" Ari responds. "Viva la revolucion!"

Link to chapter four on AO3

Re-posted, previously anonymous fic

Title: The Camp Evergreen Experiment
Pairings: Arthur/Eames, Dom/Mal, Ariadne/Robert, Arthur/Robert (pining only)
Rating: PG-13 for now, eventually R
Word Count: 8,744 (first three chapters)
Summary: High school junior Arthur Miller thinks he might like boys, but he isn't totally sure. He's headed off toe be a camp counselor for the Summer and sets himself a quest to kiss another guy before coming home for school in the Fall. What he doesn't realize is how much a few months at Camp Evergreen will change his life.
Notes: This is reposted from an as-yet-unfinished anonymous kink meme fill. I'm close to the end over there and thought I'd start getting it cleaned up and re-posted, so I don't have to do it all at once.

He leafs through the remaining pages--schedules, maps, rules--and turns back to the staff list. If he goes through with is plan, in all likelihood it's going to be one of these boys that Arthur will kiss before August is over.
   Deep breath.
He scans the names, trying to picture what each guy might look like, which he knows is completely silly, but can't stop himself from doing anyway. Hmmm ... Tristan Eames. That's definitely the kind of name that makes you wonder about the person attached to it. With a name like that, he has to be at least kind of interesting. Same goes for Dominic Cobb. Arthur pictures a cherubic face, white blonde hair and big blue eyes. Lots of cool-factor potential there, too. He can't really say much of anything about Robert Fischer. With a name like that, he could be as boring as vanilla ice cream. Not like Arthur Miller is much better. If any of the other counselors-to-be out there around the world are playing this same game, they probably wouldn't linger over Arthur's name as a potential flirtation, kiss or hook-up for longer than a couple of seconds.
It's not like Arthur's never kissed anyone. He's sort-of made out with three different girls. It's not a stellar record. But it's not totally shameful either, for someone just 16 years old, especially considering that he has a reputation for being a bit stiff, a tad too serious and not at all carefree.
And if he's being completely honest with himself, the reputation is definitely at least kind of earned.
That's basically why he decided to apply for the junior counselor position back in February. He feels like he's too stuck in his long-term school personality, so that even when he wants to break free, everyone--other kids, coaches, teachers, parents--just sort of pushes him back into being good, old, responsible Arthur Miller, who can always be counted on to do everything the right way and never step a toe out of line.
And if he's being even more honest with himself, this reputation is probably the underlying reason for his summer experiment in the first place.
See those three girls he's kissed, not one of them had lit his world on fire. None of them had even started enough of a flame to toast one of Camp Director Saito's marshmallows.

Story on AO3

More fic

Title: Sunday Mornin' Comin' Down
Characters: Arthur/Eames
Rating: R/NC-17-ish; I'm bad at distinguishing
Word Count: 2322
Summary: Eames muses drunkenly about his and Arthur's work and domestic habits while attempting to have a post-brunch nap. Arthur comes home. Sex ensues. Set about a year and a half after Whatever You Want To Do, Is Alright With Me

Still hovering on the edge of sleep, Eames thinks about the dark year when Arthur had fucked off to follow Cobb around the globe--risking life and limb with hardly a "thank you very much" from his own best mate. Dominic hadn't known about their relationship back then. Arthur insisted it was for Eames's safety, but Eames had been more wounded than he cared to admit by the secrecy. In petty revenge, he'd allowed all the plants in Arthur's downtown Los Angeles condo to die and cobwebs to accumulate in his Paris flat, preferring to vacillate between sulking in Kenya and sulking in Thailand. Today, however, even the worst fight wouldn't provoke such behavior from Eames--not even at the Paris flat, which is now technically half his as well.
Which reminds him, he must tell Arthur about the beautiful farmhouse sink he saw the other day while walking home from the wine shop. It would be absolutely perfect for their Paris kitchen. He'd like to try his hand a building an enormous butcher's block to go alongside it as well. Arthur would have to help, of course. He's vastly more skilled at that sort of thing. But they have the space to do it in their garage here, then ship it across the Atlantic to make another of their homes just bit nicer and more of a reflection of the life they're building together.
Eames's thoughts are drifting between hopes of an as-yet-undiscovered talent for woodworking and fantasies of Arthur bending him over the as-yet-unacquired sink, when he's partially roused by the sound of keys in the door.

Full Story Here
