So after five and a half years working for the same people and offering them everything I had (booking, promotions, graphic design and computer programming) one owner decides to fire me because I refused to make calendars and posters for free. Yes, free... they give friends tabs to mow their lawns and yet an employee who works his ass off for half a decade gets fired because he charges for doing work outside his job description (That being the bar manager). There are four other people who make the same amount as me of them one has been there ten years (longer than two of the three owners) and he is genius by never wanting to get into managment, Two are employees that have left the company multiple times and come back, and one is a year old employee who believes he is to good to actually even set up a bar for his shift. I was relived of my position because I am the only one who can program computers, POS's and websities and even with the knowledge that they have to pay me for this extra work one of the owners (After getting drunk and smoking pot with the sound guy) told me that asking to get paid for my design work was not appropriate because they were losing money. So he fired me. Not even 24 hours later I get a call from the bartender at my former job to fix the sound for movie night. I then find out the owners are trying to find multiple reasons to write me up before they fired me so they do not have to pay unemployment. What sucks is I warned them about this because I have seen owners naked having sex in the bar, passed out drunk masturbating, offering free drinks to customers to get laid and smoking multiple times and illegal substance with their friends and bands at the club. So I am at a crossroad. I got fired for wanting to get paid for my work and they expect me to roll over and not get unemployment when they are breaking every law in TABC's handbook. What should I do?

So, I am a little bit broke and a hell of a lot narcissistic so here is my Christmas gift to you, the first in a series of Circus della Morte toys, the Mr. N. Visible Papertoy
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v84/mrnvisible/mrnvisible.jpg

Just click, download, cut and create.

So holidays in Chicago were great, lots of shopping at Rotofugi and Dick Blick, seeing the Addams Family Musical with Nathan Lane and Bebe Nuewirth (Surprisingly entertaining with Uncle Fester and Grandma being bits which cannot be missed) and A Christmas Carol which was excellent and moving. Ate a lot, drank too much (bars open till 4-5 am) and riding the CRT all around town.

Really think this is where I want to move after graduation

If you never have seen the sideshow or you have not seen us in a while, now is the perfect time. June 18th at the Boiler Room (100 Walnut St, Denton, TX) we will be headlining the benefit for myself that will (fingers crossed) bring in the money I need for my much latent divorce. If you can make it please do, if you cannot no sweat, but it would be cool. This has to be one of the best causes to raise money for (my girlfriend agrees) and I know I never see any of you because I am stuck in Denton, so this is the perfect excuse for a reunion of sorts.

So I have been reading alot of Pekar's stuff lately and really getting into the whole comic as life stuff, and I was thinking... There will probably never be a union for sideshow performers. I mean there are a lot of us the world around, but organized, I am not sure we would survive. IT sucks really, most of us donot qualify for insurance based on our performance, and we cannot make the kind of money that would help in accidental situations. But then again I think that might be the reason we do this.

One, fuck the Dallas Observer. I love how they can report on an event at my bar without talking to the bands, sound guy, staff or anyone and be pissed that in Denton bands play past 12:30 am. Second, Electric Six and Bang Camaro are probably the best laid backed bands I have ever met, in fact the next time they come down a house party is in order with them taking a couple days off from the road to participate in the festivities.

Anyway, Circus della Morte is performing next Friday at Dan's Silverleaf in Denton and if you have not seen us in the last three months, you should. We have a brand spanking new MC, a musician on concertina and a plethora of new stunts. Plus we are not stuck up and will actually drink with you. We will be joined by the Jackey's, the red states answer to drunken pissed off celtic tunes and Starhead, an amalgam of rock, acoustic, melodic lyric driven prose. I obciously will be drunk and bleeding, but my parents mught be there for our once a year religious get together, so you should too.

So i rarely post anymore what with school, work and that damn WOW game nowdays, but I thought hey it has been a busy week and spring break so... This past weekend was the first North by 35 music festival, we were suppose to do five shows in four days, but due to rain, cold and basically Texas weather we only did one, and it was great, we went on Friday night right after the grammy award winning Brave Combo. Also got to cathch Starhead, Warren Jackson Hearne, The Heelers, Record Hop, The Drams, The Fieros, The Killhawks and Roger Clyne & the Peacemakers which was cool, because a) he sung Banditos from when he was in the Refreshments and 2) he performed the King of the Hill theme song that he co wrote. Also this weekend got to see Jeffery Barnes throw together jazz project, listen to Harvey Pekar talk about jazz and then hang out with him during a rock and roll trivia competition and saw a one man band in a trailer behind (what I suppose) was bullet proof glass. Here is to hoping all my pictures turn out in the dark room this week. Anyway up and coming on April 17th we will be at Dan's Silverleaf with That Damned Band from Austin and Wareen Jackson Hearne and te Merrie Murdre of Gloomadeers, so come hang out and see us.
