Optimising Health & Movement.
From Desk to Gym.
Evidence-based care for real bodies and real lives. We help women and men of all ages move with less pain and more confidence—whether you’re managing long days at a desk, bouncing between kids, hitting the gym, or recovering from injury.
Reduce Pain, Restore Movement & Build Strength
Whether your days involve long hours at a desk, regular training, or a mix of different activities, our clinical approach focuses on reducing pain and improving how your body moves. By enhancing activation, proprioception, stability and strength — and the way your brain controls them — care supports better movement, lower injury risk, and long-term results.
Relieve Pain & Restore Comfort
Evidence-based protocols focused on reducing pain and inflammation, improving movement, relaxing muscles and returning you to feeling your best.
By delivering sensory input via hands on care, treatment helps the nervous system to regulate pain naturally, without reliance on drugs or surgery.
Improve Motor Control & Proprioception
Proprioception is our sense of where our body is, even if our eyes are closed. At Movement Chiro we aim to support the brain’s ability to sense where your body is in space, fire the right muscles at the right time, and refine movement patterns to reduce injury risk and improve performance.
Enhance Functional Strength & Everyday Performance
Strength isn’t just about building muscle. You can have the strongest muscle in the world, but if it doesn’t fire when it’s supposed to, it won’t support real-world movement.
Through targeted activation and improved stability — care helps transition you from clinical recovery to peak performance, so your body is better equipped to handle all the demands of life.
A Bridge Between Clinical & Functional
At Movement Chiro, you’ll find the sweet spot between hands-on manual therapy and movement-based rehabilitation — combining the best of chiropractic care with principles you’d expect from physiotherapy and osteopathy.
Dr Jess offers personalised care that goes beyond quick adjustments. With longer treatment times, you’ll receive the time, attention and care your body truly deserves.
Meet Dr Jessica Crisp
I believe movement is life—it’s essential for longevity, musculoskeletal and brain health, and living without pain.
My philosophy is simple: I treat every patient how I’d want to be treated. That means taking the time to truly listen and assess how your body is moving — not just where it hurts. We start with a thorough assessment to form a clear working diagnosis, because effective treatment begins with understanding your pain and neuromuscular system.
If we don’t move, we lose, so my goal is to help you move better, feel stronger, and stay active—whether that’s recovering from injury, managing daily life, or performing at your best.
Each session combines hands-on care with practical movement strategies designed to relieve pain, restore function, and improve strength and neuromuscular control.
Specialised Areas of Interest:
- Spine Pain & Posture: Dr Jessica has completed post-graduate courses in advanced spinal diagnosis and treatment of conditions ranging from disc injury to acute torticollis and tech-neck.
- Headaches & Migraine: Dr Jessica is experienced in managing tension-type & cervicogenic headache as well as migraine. With postgraduate training (including in the Watson Headache Technique) she understands the risks and offers safe, effective alternatives to spinal manipulation.
- Musculoskeletal & Gym Injuries ("Gymjuries"): whether it’s more than just post-workout DOMS, repetitive tasks causing tennis elbow, or a big performance on the footy field stirring up your rotator cuff, Dr Jess aims to reduce pain, guide your recovery and prevent re-injury.
Outside the clinic
I’m a nerd at heart — former gamer, sci-fi book lover, board game enthusiast, tennis player, bodyboarder & beach lover, gym regular and snowboarder. I also have a terrible sense of humour (I love puns — the worse, the better). Most of all, I’m a proud mum to two cheeky little girls who keep life full of energy (theirs, not mine).

Hear From Our Clients
Improving the lives of hundreds of our Melbourne based clients
I have been going to Jess for over a year now. When I first started seeing Jess I had extreme back pain, I now no longer suffer from that extreme back pain. Jess is extremely knowledgeable within her craft, always making sure her clients care and needs are always put first. I strongly recommend Jess as a chiropractor. You’ll definitely be looked after.
I have been seeing Dr. Jessica (Jess) Crisp for over five years, and I can confidently say that she is an exceptional chiropractor. In every single instance where I've needed help with a health issue, her treatment has led to a positive and effective outcome. Jess possesses an incredible ability to pinpoint and address physical issues; she truly knows exactly how to 'fix' me. Her treatments are incredibly effective, and the positive results are consistent. Beyond her technical skill, her communication is fantastic. She is easy to speak with and takes the time to explain complex information in both clear medical terms and easy-to-understand layman terms, ensuring I always feel informed and empowered in my care.
Jess has been my chiropractor for the better part of a decade and has been a consistent source of support throughout that time. Her dedication to her profession and genuine care for her clients’ overall wellbeing are truly admirable.
The most attentive chiropractor I've ever met, I used to bounce around to different chiropractors for quick adjustments but my recovery journey only really started when I had my first session with Dr. Jess. I highly recommend if you're seeking a professional that genuinely cares!!

Recovery & Performance FAQ
What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic is a primary, allied healthcare profession focussed on the assessment, diagnosis and management of conditions affecting the spine, joints, muscles and nervous system. It is a drug-free and non-surgical approach to care.
Treatment is typically hands-on and may include manual adjustments, instrument-assisted techniques, soft tissue therapy (massage), ergonomic and lifestyle guidance, prescribed stretching and strengthening exercises, rehabilitation programs and advice regarding appropriate supplementation.
Is Chiropractic Care Safe?
Chiropractic care is considered a safe and effective treatment option for many musculoskeletal conditions. It is a drug-free and non-surgical approach to care, which contributes to its strong safety profile compared to more invasive interventions.
Like all healthcare interventions, there are some risks which will be discussed with you at your appointment before any treatment is commenced.
Most side-effects are mild and short-term such as “post-treatment soreness” which is considered similar to the pain you might sometimes feel after exercising.
Serious complications are very rare. You may have heard concerns about stroke in relation to manual neck manipulation. Current research indicates that these events are extremely rare. The best available evidence suggests that this is likely correlation rather than causation; patients in these studies were already experiencing symptoms such as headaches and neck pain for which they sought care; these symptoms can be a sign of an underlying arterial issue before seeking care. All patients are screened for risk factors before proceeding with treatment. If risk is considered elevated, or if you prefer not to have manual neck adjustments, alternative techniques are available that do not involve “cracking” the neck and can achieve similar therapeutic outcomes.
What is an adjustment?
An adjustment refers to a high velocity (fast), low amplitude (gentle) thrust or stretch of the deep muscles supporting joints. This fast stretch leads to a big burst of sensory information and a reflex contraction of the muscles giving your brain a better picture of the mechanics of the area AND better stability and neuromuscular control. Larger muscles which have been compensation often relax. Some people say it feels like an instant massage.
A side-effect of the fast stretch is that sometimes a little pocket of air is released, making a “pop” or “crack” sound. This is just gas being released from the joint. It is not necessary for an effective adjustment but it is satisfying!
What is the Activator Instrument?
The Activator Instrument is a hand-held tool used by some Chiropractors that delivers a very specific, fast stretch to the small, deep muscles surrounding joints. It is primarily used on the spinal but can be used on other joints like the shoulder & knee. It does the same thing as a manual adjustment (“the popping and cracking”) but without the “popping and cracking”. It is considered safer as it doesn’t involve large or rotary movements. I sometimes describe it as the “low dose” and a manual adjustment is a “high dose”. It can be used if a manual adjustment is considered too risky (either by you, the patient, or by the practitioner) but can also be used due to patient preference or efficacy. For example, some people find a manual adjustment to be overstimulating but the activator is just right.
What age groups do you treat?
Dr Jessica at Movement Chiropractic treats people of all ages. Typically she sees young professionals and students through to retired grey nomads (16 - 80 years old). However, she’s more than happy to help the younger age groups, particularly when they start school and face the demands of heavy backpacks and increased sitting.
Are Chiropractors educated?
Yes, Chiropractic in Australia is a 5 year double degree with a 3 year Bachelor of Applied Science in Complementary Medicine and a 2 year Masters of Clinical Chiropractic. The course is science and evidence based, covering topics like anatomy, physiology, neurology and radiology.
Are Chiropractors regulated?
Yes, Chiropractors are regulated by AHPRA, the same body that regulates doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and osteopaths.
Do adjustments hurt?
What can I expect from treatment?
How many appointments do I need?
Do I need a referral?
Is Chiropractic care covered by medicare?

Can I walk in or do I need an appointment?
What is your cancellation policy?
Appointment times are reserved specifically for you. If you need to cancel or reschedule, we kindly ask for at least 4 hours’ notice so the appointment can be offered to another patient.
A $30 fee may apply for missed appointments or late cancellations. Dr Jess understands that unforeseen circumstances arise and, when communicated, this fee will often be waived.
What should I wear?
What do I need to bring?
If you have a GP Chronic Condition Management Plan, you will need your referral letter, physical medicare card and physical debit card.
If you have private health insurance, you will need your insurance card (physical or app on your phone) and debit card (physical or on phone).
Please also bring any relevant images/scans and their reports. You may also choose to email these through to Dr Jess prior to your appointment. The same can be done for your patient intake forms and health questionnaires.
What is the difference between Chiro, Physio and Osteo?
There is a lot of overlap between the 3 professions these days. You may find a Chiro that practices more like a Physio or an Osteo that works more like a Chiro. It’s essential to find a practitioner that works for you, regardless of their title.
Typically Physiotherapists working in private practice on the musculoskeletal system are your exercise prescribers. Usually their visits are 30–45 minutes. Osteopaths focus on mobilisation and circulation. Their visits are usually 20–30 minutes. Chiropractors are typically known for “adjustments” which are fast movements of your joints that influence the musculoskeletal system AND nervous system. Their visits are usually 5–20 minutes.
Dr Jess practices like a cross between the three professions. She incorporates massage, mobilisation and exercise prescription (things you’d see with physio and osteo) with the usual things you’d see from a Chiro (like adjustments and alignment techniques). Her standard visits range from 20 minutes to 45 minutes with the average being 30 minutes.
