Happy New Year! May 2016 treat everyone well.

The previous year was horrible for many reasons I won't get into publicly. I am crossing my fingers everything turns around this year.

I pledged to another Kickstarter which did not fully deliver promised rewards:

Animals of North America by Nicole Rae Klapak

They supplied the rewards I paid for but not the promised stretch goal one. So glad I didn't fork out an additional $45US for the crow decal for both the principle and who knows if it would have been supplied? Or they may have given me the ones I paid for but not the extras. In short, don't promise stretch goal rewards you can't deliver on.

I am likely going to be sending a necklace back for a refund. It was originally $92CAD. I still paid $77 for it. Wore it once and it has visible dark scratches on it. I have never done a return before but thankfully, the shop is in my own country. There will be no customs hold up. I'll have to pay return postage back for the defective item but may be able to do it using cheaper lettermail. *crosses fingers*
Please wish me luck.

Television for next yearCollapse )

A possibly unpopular opinion: I liked Ulver much, much better when they were black metal. Strange thing is their new material reminds me a little of City of Glass, a band I love. O_o

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you all. I'm still deciding where I wish to go for Boxing Day.

I received Michael Kors boots for a present: these ones.

As I likely will not be writing here again for a while, I wish you all a Happy New Year. All the best for 2015!

Cheers!

A lot of programs I like have ended or been cancelled. It will be the last season for Republic of Doyle, and The Listener ended a few months ago. I am going to be picking up a few new shows if they're good (Strange Empire, Fresh Off the Boat, The Last Man on Earth, Method, and Opium) but not very many.

Another dead in the water Kickstarter I funded: Moon Rift by Sam Hutcher

My Kickscammed.com post about it

This one had very few red flags. Hutcher had a pitch video and kept in constant update about the project until the end of October 2013. I'm out only $10. I'm grateful I forgot about upgrading my pledge for the soundtrack. The whole principle of it is awful. At the very least, Hutcher could have apologised and admit the project failed. I feel so badly for the people who pledged a lot of money, as seen in comments.

I think another one pledged to, which will remain unnamed until I find out more info, may not be going too well either. I'm still going to back projects but will be more careful.

The worst project on Kickstarter I've backed is
"Walking Through Antarctica" by Kevin Seaman

No responses, posts, or contact of any kind and no refund or completed project.

A more in-depth account. Wordy but includes tips on what to look for when backing Kickstarter projects. Research and back out and report if it looks suspicious.

I've luckily had overwhelmingly positive experiences on Kickstarter (and I've backed a lot of projects), so this sticks out like a sore thumb. Thank goodness it wasn't much money.

Update: My money has been refunded by PayPal payments yesterday after a two month wait after initial contact to request a refund. Full story on my kickscammed.com post and tumblr entry. I tracked the project creator down on twitter and FB on February 12th. After multiple tweets, messages, and many excuses from the creator (dragged on for two months), I was finally refunded on April 14th.

Needless to say, I'll be more careful with pledging on Kickstarter from now on.

Hi all. I haven't been around in a while again; although, I have been trying to read along to everyone's posts on here and commenting as much as I can.

I hope you all are having a good holiday. Mine was good. Everyone loved the presents I got for them.

My old laptop was having issues. My father gave me a new one as a gift, so I'll be on here more often. I also received Hello Kitty headphones and Beyonce Pulse NYC perfume. I'm very happy about the latter. This is hard to find in my region.

As I do every December, I'm listing the television shows I'll be watching in the New Year:
Here are my selectionsCollapse )

I hope CBC continues to broadcast Crossing Lines. It was the best new show for 2013. I'm not watching just for the attractive men either, but they're a nice bonus. Richard Flood, Ronan Raftery, Rossif Sutherland, and Tom Wlaschiha are all very handsome.

Cheers.
