So a general question for all of you out there. How do you meet people when you're out of college and in a new location?

I have a job with 3 full time employees (I'm one of them). I don't really go out drinking and I have very few friends left over from high school. I find myself wanting to do something on the weekdays after work and before sleep. I'd really like to meet more people. Let me know.

I need good service in the Hudson Valley and I need the plan to be roughly 50 a month with no extra hidden fees and charges. What companies can you guys suggest?

Rich

P.S.
Epic Limerick

I had a dream in which I wrote an epic limerick. I wrote at least 5 stanza's (that seems epic in a dream), but when I woke up I could only recall two.

There once was a princess of beauty,
who was forced by her filial duty,
To marry a prince,
Which would be such a synch,
Since she already had her a cutie.

But when staring at one of his brothers,
She had wondered about all the others,
So she tried all the best,
Then she tried all the rest,
And then she could marry her druthers.

I do remember another line about spotting the same tattoo on her lovers chest on someone elses chest and that in the dream "druthers" meant 'bottom of the barrel', rather than "preference".

In the dream I wrote the final line as "Now she wouldn’t be stuck with the druthers"
where the use of 'druthers' as the plural of "would rather" (where it etymologically comes from) still makes sense. Alas, the modern meaning of 'preference' does not make sense in the original.

    <lj:music>Scritti Polliti (the new stuff) - Throw</lj:music>

I'm currently bored at home because most of my stuff is packed away in boxes and can't move into my new place yet because I need a mattress. As such, I decided to go through my bookmarks on Mozilla and delete some old ones (they go back to before 2001). As I was going through them I was reminded of a lot of the things I did in college, spotted some pictures from early college and even high school. It has me a bit sentimental. I'm currently in the predicament that everyone is: too many options and not a clue of what to do.

I'm also making a list of all of the things that I've been meaning to do, but haven't had the time. On the top of that list is not written 'make a list of things to do' so the irony factor is still at acceptable levels. Hopefully I'll be able to avoid the quarter life crisis (as Scott is fond of calling it).

I need a mattress.

It's a little cathartic (just a little). I just got an e-mail from nssesurvey.org asking me to evaluate the university, and instead of ignoring it and keeping the 20-30 minutes it would inevitably take, I filled it out. In the end there was a part ythat went back to BU with a little box for additional comments. While I'm sure it won't make that much of a difference, I mentioned the ridiculously oppressive to free expression/ social interaction environment that BU fosters. It kinda made me feel a little better. Maybe I should write an article for one of the small papers on campus (as I've been asked to do by the guy running it).

"There is a consensus on the part of the ministers that it is important that this year we knock the Taliban back."

I see... the point of this war is to... give hope! And also, it's good to know that we need to knock the Taliban back. It's a shame that Donnie Rummysfield guy didn't have thse ideas. We'd have totally won by now.

Ok, I've been trying to figure this out for a few weeks. Do any of you recall an arcade game from at least pre-1998 which was a sidescrolling 4 player console that was hack/slash dnd style. You had a choice of 4 different characters to choose from: one was a wizard, another archer, some sword/ axe guy and another I can't recall. It sounds exactly like gaunltet, but this was a sidescroller and not a top-down version. It also had a feature where you would get to the end of the level and you would kill the big boss (Generally some sort of dragon) and you'd get a treasure chest with a better weapon in it. Let me know if you know what I'm talking about.

Despite all the crap that went on this year/ semester and despite the fact that I got really stressed out and probably seemed like a jerk and got mad at everyone, I really do appreciate all of you. I'm sitting here at my parents house and I can't wait for the next part of the adventure to begin. So to all of you who've been a friend (and if you're reading this that should include you), even if I haven't seen you for a while I give a humble thanks.

Thanks for being there.

And now, so this entry isn't a total loss, here's a something-or-other that I enjoyed.

<lj-template name="video">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1dmVU08zVpA</lj-template>

So I did some poking around on my DARS report yesterday. I found out that if I spend an extra year in college, I could get two extra majors. So By the end of my 7th year, I could be a Bio-Chem/History/Comparitave Literature/Classical Civilizations Major.

Now, before you all jump down my throat and yell "No, Rich! You need to Graduate!", realize that today I finally submitted my application for graduation. By May of '07 I should have my degree. Huzzah.

Ok, I may be looking forward to snakes on a plane when Cefka comes back, but Snakes on a Train? This movie sounds even worse. Here's a review I stole from www.thealsylm.com.

"Under a powerful Mayan curse, snakes are hatched inside a young woman, slowly devouring her from within. Her only chance for survival is a powerful shaman who lives across the border. With only hours to live, she jumps on a train headed for Los Angeles. Unfortunately for the passengers aboard, they are now trapped, soon to be victims of these flesh-eating vipers."

Seriously people... Seriously.

I spent about 6 hours yesterday cleaning up the basement with ym housemate and landlord. There's still a lot of stuff there, but we got most of it out and onto the curb. The pile on the curb is about 4 feet high, three feet thick (on average) and runs the entire length of the property. As I was leaving for the station today, there were dump trucks and a steam shovel taking it all away.

Perhaps later I'll post some more pictures.
