it's official:
smoking now disgusts me.

I smell people coming in from a smoke at work, and they stink.
I just had a smoke, first I've had since sunday (I smoked over the weekend - bad bad MoMo). And it made me feel gross. Smell gross. My mouth tastes gross.

I've been waiting to reach this point for 8 years. It's here, and I'm embracing it.

Smoking sucks.

I have beennursing myself to health:

I am better health wise now, the heart is still mending but that's the rmarkable thing about theheart - it is the most easily hurt yet the most resilient tissue in the body.

So on my way to a research study for school today I heard a couple talking about the fire on queen west, it was the first I had heard of it being secluded in my section of upper-west parkdale, sleeping until the last nanosecond before I had to catch the streetcar.

I eavesdropped, and my mouth dropped. But I guess I didn't quite get a good idea of what they were talking about. They said an entire block, but I thought it was exageration. It's weird, it feels like a part of my home burnt down this morning. I am just very glad that none of my friend's lived in that stretch - I'm being presumptuous. I don't know where all my downtowner friends live... I *hope* that none of them were directly affected by this.

And I gotta say, I'm really glad the Bop didn't burn. I am really sad about National Sound and Suspect though.

So hearing the air show flying overhead at 12:30 cause me to have some rather weird dreams from then until 2:30 when I woke up. I kept having dreams that we were being invaded by aliens. It was pretty scary.

THE PLURAL OF OCTOPUS IS OCTOPUSES, NOT OCTOPI. (even the livejournal spellcheck has underscored "octopi" and not octopuses, so there)

from Gk. oktopous "eight-footed," from okto "eight" (see eight) + pous "foot."
Octopi is from mistaken assumption that -us is the L. noun ending that takes -i in plural.

So in anticipation of seeing the Perseid meteor shower next weekend, I looked it up to find out the peaks and how visible it will be. Apparently, at the peak times (saturday night from 11 to dawn, and dunday night from 11 to dawn), we should see a meteor pass approximately every minute and a half, somewhere in the sky. The is now "best" direction to look, it will be all over the sky.

Get as far out of town as you can, and it's bound to be awesome.

I also found out that there is a total lunar eclipse this year on August 28th.

What do I love about livejournal?

I read in Neil Gaiman's blog "I finally got to meet Wil Wheaton", only to scroll down two entries to find that Wil Wheaton has written "I finally got to met Neil Gaiman". It makes me laugh a little, that the people I love reading (who are awesome geeks) are such geeks that they say "finally" when referring to meeting other geeks.
