Go Out In Style

The whole thing had been bad from the get-go.

Outdated intel, enhanced security she wasn't expecting, not to mention the treasure itself was in a room completely opposite of where it had been a week before. Someone had tipped the American diplomat off, and once V found out who, they were dead. Regardless, she had gotten what she came for, the Apple of Eris, and it was in Artemis' capable paws, en route back to her apartment. It was easy for a cat to sneak away; not so much for V. Right now, she needed a distraction.

Crouching behind a large pillar in the garden, V pulled out a small detonator from her skirt pocket. She looked a bit worse for the wear, scratched and bruised and even burned in a couple of places (why he gave the guards flamethrowers, she didn't know). But she was still grinning, looking over her shoulder. "Have a blast, boys." With that, she pushed the red button.

The explosion, centered in the basement of the large estate, shook the entire grounds, and V blinked. She didn't think she set that many explosives to go off... Eh, c'est la vie, right? Grinning at her own pun, the guards that had been pursuing her ran to the explosion, as did the guard at the garden gate. God, mooks were idiots. In no time at all, V picked the lock on the gate and grinned, running off, albeit with a slight limp.

Staying in the dark, V entered her apartment through her window, closing it as she backed in. However, she had a guest...

A small moment of happiness. Interrupted

It was a breakthrough moment for the dirty, ragamuffin-dressed girl on the roof of the abandoned OSA-P building.

"Aaaa-AH!"

Usagi's face lit up as the small portable stove turned on. IT meant tonight, she had some electricity. It meant tonight, she had food. Warm, cooked, easy to make food. Rubbing her gloved hands together, she took out a can of soup and began to open it excitedly. No foraging for food or shooting and skinning stray animals for dinner tonight! No having to leave OSA-P! Heck, maybe she could even sleep inside tonight with some heat, maybe even take a shower and not bathe in the sewers--

Sadly, that thought is interrupted by scraping sounds echoing from the streets below. Usagi's breath caught itself, and the oven was quickly turned off. Those kinds of sounds usually meant one thing: youma. Or maybe a gang imitating a youma to fool another gang. Either way...not a good sound.

As quietly as she could, Usagi clasped the rifle nearby - it felt like she never went anywhere anymore without it nearby and loaded, she realized - and very very slowly began to peer over the edge of the roof.

The question is...what will she see?

((ooc: Best way to describe this is....Youmapocalypse!Usagi! See profile for more details on this Usagi. :D))

This Fragile World is Tearing Apart

The door slammed so hard that the castle probably shook. Good; let them all know how she was feeling.

A blonde girl threw herself onto the opulent bed, screaming into her pillow in sheer desperation. After a few moments, she comes up for air, blue eyes half open and holding the same hurt look as always. They always talked about how kind her mother was, how benevolent, how her heroism had kept the peace for so long. So why was it that same woman caused her so much pain?

Of course, she knew; Sailor Pluto had explained it to her quite some time ago. Tsukino Hisako, the first born daughter of Queen Serenity and King Endymion (nee Tsukino Usagi and Chiba Mamoru), was not what anyone expected. Instead of Chibiusa, the daughter Usagi had been expecting for years, Hisako was born instead. Pluto had explained to the distraught queen that Chibiusa was merely a possibility of the future, not a certainty. Hisako was her true child, and nothing could be done. Serenity had tried her best to care for her baby, but that love that normally existed between mother and child was quite noticeably absent, and the royal nursemaids and nannies pretty much raised Hisako. Endymion tried his best to help both mother and child cope, but Serenity's neglectful nature only grew.

It had finally come to a head this very evening. A final, desperate move to help gain some favor with her mother had led Hisako to try and style her wavy hair the same way as her mother's. The odango were... off. A little pointed, even. But she still felt they were fine. However, when she went to see her mother, she saw no joy on the queen's face - only depression, followed by anger. The next thing Hisako registered was her mother angrily brushing out her hair, crying and calling her disrespectful. Hisako had pushed her away and ran here, where she now lay in a world of confusion and hurt. Normally, this was where she would let her tears flow, but it had seemed she had run out of tears to cry, for none came. Instead a single word, barely a whisper, escaped her lips. "Why...?"

As a knock sounds at her door, Hisako sits up, tossing her hair back and checking her eyes for tears before replying. "Come in."

((OOC: Neglected princess is neglected. Yep.))

[The night fell in Tokyo with relative ease. It isn't Sailor Moon or her senshi that patrol the rooftops, it's Tuxedo Kamen.

He stops on an empty roof, taking care as he kneels on a ledge to overlook the bustling city below. So many people, yet hardly any knew of what was going on around them. Perhaps he preferred it that way... or maybe he was waiting for the right moment.

The top hat having been ditched a couple of rooftops ago, the Prince ran his gloved hand through his hair.

Come bug him tonight?]

how may I serve you...

It is the Silver Millennium. Sort of. The time is during the Silver Millennium, but the place is Earth. The Golden Kingdom, the pinnacle of ancient culture, nobility, science, and...slavery?

Anyone who thought it didn't exist would be fooling themselves. They were everywhere, and this girl was no exception. She's cleaning up a receiving room, knowing that it was to be kept pristine at all times no matter what time of day it was. Anyone could visit at anytime, after all, and the mistress of the house would give her a beating if it wasn't absolutely perfect. That alone was enough to annoy her, as she hated the woman who lorded over her and the others. But she hated the master - her master, who had bought her in the past year - more. What awaited when he returned home - every day, no matter how tired she was - made her want to run away and never return. Not that she could, of course, with the tag on her back. At least, she couldn't yet.

Feeling the mistress' glare towards her - was it her fault she was so pretty, so prideful, to have caught her master's attention? - she lowers her head and goes back to work. If a woman came to call, she was expected to serve food and drink no matter what. If a man came by, well - she would be expected to serve something else entirely.

But regardless, do come in. The owners of the house - and this slave, among others - are rich and the mistress will take pains to put on a perfect face for any visitor - especially those of the influential type.

((OOC; Pre-working-at-the-palace Beryl.
Yet again, Haruka found herself in this odd place, the place where she'd met both the queen and Sailor Cosmos. Both Usagi and an odd version of her fellow senshi, she of the message bringer Mercury.

Here she was in simple garb, a low-cut top with a white undershirt and lapels, her scarf in her schoolbag. Draped around her neck and shoulders, the dark khaki bag hung as she walked, unsure of where she was.

The room she found herself in upon opening the door, however, was that of great beauty. And that great beauty being a room in the Castle of the Moon Kingdom she had always been partial to. It was amazing, crystal and jewels, the place where she sought solitude from even Michiru. It would have only been better if it was her castle, which she didn't get to visit all that often anymore.

There was the sound of the door opening, and she turned to see who—or what—it was.

[bored, but tags may be slow. any endymions or mamorus around?? :DDD]

Tomoe Hotaru adjusted the temperature on the stove with a small smile, waiting for the water to finish boiling in the kettle. She would meet someone new today, as she did almost every day. A new lost soul, a new person in need. This was her life, to help the dead and dying for as long as she drew breath. A fitting punishment, considering.

Becoming Mistress 9 had spurred her powers into overdrive; when she finally awakened as Sailor Saturn, it exploded beyond control, and there was no warning. It was only thanks to very quick thinking by Sailor Pluto that the disaster hadn't spiraled out of control. Sailor Moon restored everything, but Hotaru, horrified by what she had done, used what little power she had left to wipe the memories of her existence from the senshi. She quickly went into hiding, and to her relief, none of them sought her. She did miss ChibiUsa, to an extent, but she had hurt her, too.

It wasn't right.

So she lived alone, atoning for her sins the only way she could - by helping the dead and dying achieve whatever they need to rest in peace. The chimes on the door rang, telling Hotaru that someone had entered her shop. With a smile, she stepped out from the kitchen. "Welcome."

Target acquired!

The time: night. The place: a very, very nice penthouse. At least it was before its owner was tossed out into the window after a brutal fight. He lays unconscious in his suit of armor, alongside a woman with bat wings and what can only be described as a rather large green orge. They were unaware of who or what ambushed them. Nor would they know who was standing up for them right now.

"Death Phantom!" Sailor Moon pointed at the figure as she went into a stance. "I've found you! In the name of the moon-"

"Spare me your demonstrations, princess." While the look on the creature's face is one of amusement, his tone betrays his anger that is is her who interrupted him. "This is not your world. I have become greater. My evolution into this form is proof of the power of Subspace energy, no matter what reality! And now, because of this growth, I can see what will happen. Even as we speak two Earths and their universes are colliding; both will surely be devoured! And when they are is when I will make my final move...!"

"What-!?"

"Of course, your inability to comprehend what I am able to see and do makes you nothing more than my next victim!" At this, a third eye begins to form on Death Phantom's body. "When I am finished with you, you will finally be absorbed into the Subspace vortex, and your power will at last be mine!"

"...No way!" Sailor Moon sets as steely a glare as she can on Death Phantom. "I may not be in my universe, but neither are you, and you know it!"

At this, Sailor Moon gets into a fighting stance. No more talking. It's time for Round 1.

((OOC: Just as a note, the mechanics of this universe are a la Capcom so really powerful special/magical attacks have to be charged through beating the enemy up, which is how Serenity is fighting, lol. Or just ignore it and assume Death Phantom has a zillion HP, either one. ;D))

The place: a huge forest, with impossibly tall, ancient trees. Two figures, one in blue, one in pink and green, dodge around the trunks and over roots. Their boots make only a little noise on the forest floor, heavily carpeted with layers of old leaves.

"Flower Hurricane!"
"Shine Aqua Illusion!"

Two attacks meet between the trees, and explode. Frosted petals fall to the ground. Wait, Sailorjupiter and Sailormercury are fighting...each other? Some might be familiar with Dark Mercury, but this Mercury has no strange markings on her sailor fuku. They look like they've been fighting for some time at least, with both showing wear and a bit of damage.

"I won't let you drain the Earth's energy like this!" Jupiter shouts. "You misunderstand!" Mercury returns, and ducks behind a trunk to avoid a volley of more razor-sharp petals. A few hit their mark, cutting into her arm and gloves. She winces, and dodges again.

"Mercury Aqua Mist!"

A mist develops in the immediate area, and Mercury runs from the direction of her opponent, hiding behind another tree trunk. Jupiter is left blind by the dense mist for a moment. But, that doesn't seem to have much effect, given her next attack.

"Supreme Thunder!"

Lightning strikes around the forest, somehow missing the trees. But one lands a little too close to Mercury. With a little cry, she's knocked a small distance away.

Who's side will you fight on?

"Yes, your Majesty. I'll inform the others."

Zoisite stepped out from the tent, in a low bow before turning around and gazing out. There was a myriad of tents of various sizes and makes. They had been there for 3 months now; soon enough it would be 4. He missed the palace, but he knew what must be done before they could return. They were getting close to finishing this war, he could feel it.

He also knew that they would have to get back soon. There had been news from the castle recently of the Queen. Everyone was now wanting the war to end soon because of said news.

Zoisite started walking along the row of tents. He thought it better this one time to walk rather than teleport. His time with amnesia had taught him to treasure life and actually look around him rather than to take it for granted. He didn't know how many times he had thought it would be his last day when they had dealt with Metallia. Now it was the same with Beryl, only this time he would at least look the area around him.

Walk with him?

The service staff at Hokkaido palace find it really strange when Lord Jadeite takes over a corner of the kitchen for himself. Of all things, he seems to cook or bake when he's stressed. That doesn't seem to be the reason he's there today, though. In fact, there's the faintest hint of a smile on his face that won't leave.

He's baking, today. And it seems he's been busy for a while already. Several batches of petit fours lay out on doilies. Most are decorated, some are not. Those are either cooling or have been put aside carelessly in a 'not-good-enough' pile. Granted, the 'not-good-enoughs' are still entirely edible, there's just some small imperfection that has warranted them a place in the trash pile.

Right now, Chef Jadeite (who has traded his normal, ornate jacket and capelet for a regular white button-up and apron) is working with fondant, covering the current batch of tiny cakes with pastel spring colours. It's almost White Day, and he has presents to give out! Er, or he will, at least.

Come interrupt? Sample the goods?

Ami seems unusually distracted today, giving more looks to the open window and the the blue skies outside it than to the books set in front of her on her desk.

She can't help it; it's one of the first warm days they've had as the season slips from Winter into Spring.
A new enemy? Or an ally? Saturn shows herself.

[The girl's steps are quick and silent, as she travels through the cave, not sparing a glance to either side. She has a mission, one she can't be distracted from. Not that there are many distractions, any interference in Saturn's path to her target is met with death. A neat little trail for anyone to follow her, if they dared.

She steps into the last chamber, her footsteps echoing as she walks now. She doesn't care, she's played through these scenes before. Her target will never turn to face her, and that suits her just fine. With Princess Sailor Moon's forces focused on keeping the other three soldiers, soldiers who could have been like Saturn, had they chosen the true path, it's only them.

The glaive is raised, and it pierces the target's armour easily, as if the plate is little more than tissue paper. Saturn stares at the blood that appears, noting how the target now jerks as pain floods her senses. Then Saturn twists the weapon, ripping it free with one smooth move. The target falls, bleeding out, and Saturn watches her. Death, life, they are both so similar. And yet Death will always win, as she has proven yet again.

This world is still too far gone to save though, Saturn notes, as she turns around, raising the glaive. It's simply the best idea to put it out of it's misery, kill the infection now. Pity it will kill the world too, but sacrifices must always be made. She's hums softly, closing her eyes as she prepares to drop the glaive.

Care to stop her? Or perhaps cheer her on?]

WHAT...THE....FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUU

[Aaah, Tokyo. The sun shining in the sky, the birds singing in the trees, the laughter of schoolchildren in the air.

And, of course, the distant hum of a prototype death plane coming your way. Oh, wait, it's already here, judging the by the sudden missile-induced explosion of Tokyo Tower! And then other buildings! The skies suddenly darken with the dust of debris, as more buildings are attacked by the deadly Neo-Sidewinder missiles the war bird carries. The laughter turns into screams as dozens are mowed down indiscriminately by Deathgrip bullets, their bodies exploding from the impact of the metal projectiles ripping through them.

Cars explode and start flying all over the place without warning, along with shards of glass and sharp metal, like rain falls in countless droplets, waiting to slice people apart! Electric wires and poles suddenly snap go down as fire hydrants burst forth with water, transforming the streets into bloodied fields of electric death for those who dared to set foot in them! Hordes of ninjas quickly hide in indeterminable numbers, waiting in the brush for anyone who gets in range so they might cut them down! The very ground itself, those parts not soaked in pure wattage-laced doom, suddenly begin to collapse into unending pits of doom and no escape!! It's pure unadulterated HELL!!

And the plane? The plane?? Inside the plane is a woman, listening to Soundgarden as she screams in unending delight at the carnage she is causing. And she will not go easy. Oh, no, she will not go down easy. No one really knows just what they are about to fight. Not yet. No one could possibly know what lays in store for them.

Ladies and gentleman...all manner of life from across the multiverse...welcome to the main event of this universe. It's the final battle against Amazana Yoriko.

AND WELCOME TO PAIN.]

((OOC: WELL. YEAH. This is an OC from a really bad fanfic (check her profile for the lulz) that I have just unleashed upon the fair Moonlocket, and what in the hell have I done. This lady is, to be blunt, fucking hard to kill. She is THIS hard and you have just entered her world which is just as horrifically bad (think this level of difficulty) as fighting her. In other words, fair Sailor Moon characters of all shapes and sizes, PREPARE TO DIE.

...And then come back to life because Leah has put in the Konami code for this post! That's riiiiight, for the first time EVER, your characters have INFINITE LIVES! Because frankly your characters will need them. THEY WILL NEED THEM.

Cake and tea shall be served after the battle. GOOD LUCK EVERYONE<blink>! ! !</blink>]</i>

Meanwhile, in some random place somewhere...

[There is an Usagi bandaging herself up in a rickety hotel room. Rather awkwardly and painfully, as if she'd never had to do it before. And we don't mean in a "oh she had others to help bandage her up after her countless smashfests before" way. We mean, as in, "no one in her universe has any concept of bandages just as they have no concept of death or much other things" way. And yet here she is, bandaging up what looks like burn marks and slash marks and frostbitten marks and zombie bites and bullet wounds!?

Meanwhile there is a book on her rickety bed the title is: "Shadowloo for Dummies". Yes, apparently there is a book that explains evil terrorist organizations for the less book-savvy. Who'd have thought? Oh, and a pamphlet that says "How to Maximize Your Combos!" Which probably doesn't make sense unless one knows which Usagi this is.

But anyhow, seriously. How did she get those bullet wounds and zombie bites!?]

Long time no visit, ne?

There is a beautiful snow covered garden, pine trees and those that bloom in spring and summer anywhere from lightly to heavily coated in the beautiful material. Some flowers seem to be in mid-bloom beneath the snow, indicating that there had been warm weather recently but that there was a late cold snap before they could fully show their beauty. However it was seen that all as not completely well as beyond the garden walls, distant clouds of brown and black smoke could be seen - the evidence of a recent battle and perhaps even war.

In the center of the garden on a bench sits Serenity, looking off to where the smoke is coming from. She appears to be a couple years older than when she was last seen. Her eyes appear distant and sad as she sits there. She's covered in a blanket that seems to almost dwarf her size by... well.. a lot. She's shivering a little, but does not seem to notice.

A castle maid comes up to her as she sits there. "My Queen, you should not be out here. Especially not in your condition. It's far too cold."

"I'm fine," she speaks, eyes not leaving the large pillars of smoke that climb into the sky. "I will go in when I'm ready."

"But my queen you're shivering."

"I'm alright," she says again, more authority in her soft voice, "Now away."

The maid sighs before moving away, helpless to even move her queen. As she moves toward those who visit, she speaks softly. "Please... change her mind about staying out here. It's far too cold for her to be out here right now."

Try to speak with Serenity?

(ooc: Hey guys! Miss me? I've been really busy with work and returning to classes... And I've been in an rp community and trying to play around there. But I'm back now. And so is Serenity, now Queen of Earth and Moon Kingdoms. It's been a few years in Serenity [and Zoisite's] verse, so they will look a little older but not much knowing how the rulers and protectors of Earth and Moon Kingdoms in the past life age.)

As a fandom-specific dressing-room, we try to make our characters unique by the little touches in interpretation, or the AU storylines. This is the chance to let them all shine! It's the:

Headcanon Q&A meme!

• Comment with your characters!
• Respond to other people's characters with questions or things they want to know about your characters! How was their childhood, how did they get that scar, etc.
• Answer the questions people ask you with your headcanon or AU info!

You could just answer it normally, or you could also go into ridiculous tl;dr, or write a drabble or something! You could illustrate how they got that scar in MS Paint! Just answer the questions okay do it now.

An ending

This world is ending. Mercury is here as observer. The light is incredible as it envelops the stars and planets in its path, one after the other, all washed away in a searing white. The silence is deafening.

It is not Metalia's fault, it is not the princess' fault, nor is it any enemy's fault. Perhaps it was a simple meeting between the wrong alternates, no more than a touch. Perhaps some object from the past and future touched with no one there to stop it. It may have been as simple as a speck of dust out of place.

It is simply the instability of the nexus, a chain reaction from the collision of worlds and alternate dimensions leaving only those who do not belong to this world alive to watch its final moments.

(ooc: blame convo with justlovetocook for the idea)

Louder, louder, and we'll run for our lives.

Despite the snow on the ground, the day was surprisingly warm, especially for winter. Even so the park was close to deserted, most people staying indoors. Makoto had no such aversion to the winter day, and could be found jogging along the walking trail that led around the lake, sneakers crunching over twigs and dirt, ponytail bouncing with every step. The cold was a shock with each breath she took, but at the same time it was invigorating, distracting the tall brunette from thoughts of the trouble she'd been dragged into. Hip deep in a furious battle against forces that she'd only thought were ghost stories before, risking her life with the other four girls that she fought alongside, girls that she'd only met this year.

But she still felt a fierce loyalty to them, a desire to protect them from harm. It was in her nature to want to shield others, to act the guardian, but the intensity of the urge with the other senshi still startled her at times. Thusly, it wasn't a new concept to her... but the idea that she would so willingly lay her life on the line for them was, and it definitely had her taking a good long look at herself in the mirror each morning.

Shaking her head to dispel the thoughts, she leaned into her steps slightly and quickened the pace as though she might be able to outrun such uncertain thoughts.

Keeping the Pace

It's been a year since Kouhino Hibiki last paid the nexus a visit - or the other way around. This time, it starts out the same way it usually does, with Hibiki in the studio. Her hair is a little longer, but aside from that, she looks the same. Someone more astute may notice the silver, black, and purple bracelet around her wrist.

She's singing the opening for her second anime, a mahou shoujo where she was also voicing the lead. Life has been good; she's been keeping up her double life as both a rising idol and a senshi. Her illness was still gone, and she was releasing her second album, to boot. If life stayed this way for another year, Hibiki would be happy.

"Wonder Girl! Don't let me down!
Wonder Girl! Yes, here we go!"

"Great, Hibiki!" Her manager is all smiles on the other side of the glass. "Take twenty, okay?" With a nod, Hibiki set the headphones aside and moved to the resting room. Inside was a nice sitting area, with a water cooler and snack bar - and a nice view of Tokyo from the sky. Success had meant moving up in the world, and for Hibiki, one of Japan's top idols and seiyuu, who had even collaborated with Aino Minako, that meant a view; she liked the view. Getting herself a paper cup of water, she walked to the window, just watching the busy street below.

Join her?

[Michiru is going for a swim.

Well, more aptly: Michiru is going for a swim in the ocean, at least the one that appeared in the Nexus not more than two hours ago. Despite the turbulence of the waves and the crashing of the tides, she is able to navigate through the water easily and gracefully.

She does, eventually, allow the tide to bring her back to shore, though, and the sand sticks to her bare feet as she moves to grab her yellow beach towel, draping it over her shoulders.

It's winter back home, but this particular patch of the Nexus is warm, sunny. Might as well take advantage of it, right?]

Baking for Beloved Ones

Makoto looked around her kitchen and made sure all the ingredients were in place for her cooking lesson. Sure, Valentine's was a bit away, but it didn't hurt for some people to get practice in if they wanted and she didn't mind helping either; not that she had a valentine right then, but who knows what the future holds, right?

So, who's ready to shake and bake?

Changes

It was a normal afternoon at the Tsukino house. Her family was out, father at work, mother and Shingo having gone to the store, according to the note on the counter. In her bedroom, Usagi was unbuttoning her school jacket, the green and blue striped bow hanging loosely around her collar already, shoes off.

Sighing, Usagi pulled up her thigh high socks a bit as she walked to the vanity, pulling back her hair. It had grown surprisingly long, to the middle of her neck; she just had her mom trim it a week or so ago. Her nails, too, were growing faster. Most worrisome, she was starting to suffer from dizzy spells, getting sudden nausea and sickness in the middle of the day. And for some reason, sometimes going out to get some air had made it worse.

And then this morning happened.

Leaning forward to look into the mirror, Usagi pinned her hair back and wiped of the makeup she had used to cover it up. On her forehead was a strange mark, a faint purple, almost like a bruise that was in the final stages of healing. But she didn't have a bruise there to begin with. Usagi gently ran her fingers over it; it didn't hurt, but unless it was her imagination, she felt it tingle at her touch.

Her voice emerges a whisper. "What's happening to me...?"

Snowfight!

A deep winter paradise opens up, of white fields covered in snow and trees glittering with ice. This is Mercury's domain and she's chosen it to be cold and hard and impressive.

The sound of snow crunching beneath firm footsteps heralds a giant snow figure of Mercury herself, twice the size of the original, complete with icicle sword. It is just as eager to step towards its prey, slowly but inexorably closing in on a snow figure of a graceful if somewhat lopsided and slightly misformed unicorn. Snow Mercury's sword returns the unicorn to a heap of snow in a few brief strokes once it drives the creature into a more enclosed area, and the distant, loud wail of an Usagi pierces the air in noises that vaguely sound like not fair.

The real Mercury, perched on a nearby tree branch, grins. "Who's my next opponent?"

Choose what to make carefully.
