A pox upon whoever decided it was a good idea to bring boxes of fresh (but not hot, unfortunately) Krispy Kremes to work today.

Because, y'know, they tied me down and made me eat that glazed donut with chocolate icing.

Honest.

I think I got glaze chunks in my sweater.

*blorf*

Ringo Rama indeed

(the word "fuck" may be liberally used in this entry)

Holy crap. Holy, holy, holy crap. For the love of all that is and ever will be, THAT WAS THE MOST AWESOME CONCERT EVER.

I have never heard the State Theatre that loud before. And there were no less than 10 standing ovations. That place was rockin'.

Sheila E is a fucking goddess. If I were male, I'd want Sheila E to have my babies. WOW. I wonder if I'll ever have that much freaking energy. She nearly stole the show, and handily brought the house down more than once.

Colin Hay? Awesome. "Down Under" and "Who Can It Be Now" went over big. And yes, he did do the eye thing in the latter song.

Paul Carrack. Dude. I can die happy because I got to hear "Tempted" live. That song is like my guilty secret. I absolutely love it for no apparent reason. And it was fucking awesome. And of course, "Living Years" was pretty awesome too. He also sang a solo version of "Love Will Keep Us Alive" which was about 3000 times better than the Eagles version (and I'd no idea he was a cowriter on that song.)

John Waite looked like a chicken on speed, but I love him so it was okay. "Missing You" was truly inspired and we got a Tom Jones interlude (previous to the song, John Waite said something about feeling like Tom Jones, and Ringo replied, "Yeah, but you're never going to rip those pants.") And "When I See You Smile" took me right back to Route 100 Roller Skating. Hee.

Mark Rivera. Um. Yeah. I now have a huge mad crush on Mark Rivera. I liked him before, but this is the first time I'd seen him that close, and...yeah. *pants* Plus he can play just about every instrument under the sun, which gets him more points.

And, of course, Ringo. Ringo! Aaaaa!!! Ringo kicked ass! He was joking with the crowd the whole time and jumping around and playing fabulous songs (particularly "The No-No Song" and "Photograph") and it was just fucking amazing. I got to see a Beatle. Dude. I heart Ringo.

And I got to see him in a 1500 seat theatre, which is by far the smallest venue on the entire tour. And Ringo was loving it. And so were we. We let him know how much we appreciated that he agreed to play a venue that small. Several times. It was absolutely nuts.

And then, after the show, I hear someone calling my name...and I turn around, and it's Nateykins! Nateykins is one of my bestest friends from high school, and I actually haven't seen him in AGES even though we live really close to each other. So we spent some time squeeing at each other and exchanged phone numbers again. Yay!

Fucking fantastic night.
Best. Fucking. Concert. Ever.

Afternoon Jitters

We just had a completely random internet burp. I couldn't connect to any web pages for almost two hours, but it seems to have fixed itself. Which is fine, because I would have just been reading LJ and my email instead of working, but there *are* some things I need to do for work over the internet, and had I had to do those, it would have been annoyingly inconvenient. Or something. Don't mind me, I'm babbling.

Welcome to my friends list, reclaiming and countblastula.

I have managed, somehow, to clear a small but significant portion of my desk off. This is a veritable metric fuckton of data entry. My eyes are starting to swim in my skull. My nerves are starting to frazzle and I feel nauseous and I'm not quite sure why.

Oh wait, yes I am. It's because a) the Ringo concert is tonight (finally!) and I want to be able to go home NOW and get ready for it; and b) because of my random yet not so random paranoia.

In other news, this is hands-down the best damn brownie I have ever had. It's got crunchy little peanut butter chips in it and a creamy kind of glaze drizzled on the top and it tastes like it's right out of the oven although it obviously isn't. Holy crap. It's a veritable chocolategasm. I'm really really glad I took two.

Meh. Back to that pile o' data entry.

Ringo Countdown: Five hours! Eeeeeeeee!!

My body temperature has got to be at least ten degrees lower than it should be. I just had to break out the Big Black Sweater o' Doomtm. I find this to be completely ridiculous as it is almost August and I should by no rights have to be wearing a big black sweater in my office. I wonder if they turned up the air conditioning to try to combat the sticky humidity that was pervading the bottom floor the other day. It was already only 70o in my office. I wonder what it is now. Fuckers.

Of course, my officemate is completely comfortable and will probably mock me for the sweater, just as soon as he gets off the phone.

I will now attempt to beat down the silly paranoia with a big stack o' data entry. Wap. Wap wap wap.

It's laundry night. Yay. I hate doing laundry. I have a load in the dryer now, which gives me a bit of time to play around online, which is good. I wonder how long I'll get to stay on, tho, until my sister wants to use the computer. Beh.

At least I get to talk to SC for a bit while I wait for that load to dry.

Tuesday morning stuff

On the way to work I was flipping thru the radio dial and came across Y100, which I don't normally listen to, but their in-studio guest was Richard Cheese! Dude! I was highly amused.

Someone is smoking outside my office window. Damn maintenance guys.

In all of the Sweet Cheese ardor, I'd nearly forgotten that there is a concert I will be attending tomorrow night. Yes, it's finally time for RINGO! *bounces around*

That's really all. I will now go back to my extremely slow payroll system and attempt to print pay stubs so I can attempt to do employment verifications and then unemployment paperwork, the latter for which I will pretend I know why these people don't work here anymore, because nobody tells me anything. Beh.

No, really. It's humid as all get out in the office (humidity abounds on the entire basement floor, actually) and the extra moisture is making my ears hurt and giving me a headache. Not happy.

Also, the radio insists on playing Phil Collins songs, which doesn't help.

Dear Radio:

Phil Collins is crap.
Friday Five

1. If your life were a movie, what would the title be?

<strike>I will avoid picking on the grammar in the above question.</strike>
I would call it something silly like "The Good, the Bad, and the Moobie" or "Moobtasia". I'm leaning towards "The Good, the Bad, and the Moobie".

2. What songs would be on the soundtrack?

Lots of singer-songwriter stuff, of course, but I have no particular songs in mind.

3. Would it be a live-action film or animated? Why?

Live action, but maybe the dream sequences would be animated. Must have dream sequences, just because they're cool.

4. Casting: who would play you, members of your family, friends, etc?

I would play myself, ala Eminem. Really. Okay, it's really because I can't think of any actress I would want to have play me. And I'm not sure about the members of my family or my friends either, but if Gabriel Byrne could somehow be worked in and I'd get to, y'know, somehow accidentally snog him, that would be quite acceptable.

5. Describe the movie preview/trailer.

Lots of leather and Matrix-style slow motion backbends! Er, perhaps not. It would involve a "What is Moobie?" montage...it would flash the question and then have cut scenes of the more randomly weird things that have happened in my life. I'd tell you more, but that would give it all away.

Quick update on my ears

I do indeed have an ear infection, although the doctor is quite perplexed as to how I got it, and especially how I got it in both ears, since I have no other cold symptoms of any kind. Great. I love it when my medical conditions perplex the experts (much like my weird blood-poisoning episode of July 2001.)

So, it's ear drops and antibiotics and three days of doctor-imposed staying home from work and hanging out on the couch with my book and eating every now and then when it doesn't hurt to chew. And TV - I knew the closed captioning would come in handy at some point, and so it does. Supposedly, if my ears don't clear up significantly by tomorrow, I'm to call the doctor back and she's going to refer me to an ENT so they can take a closer look at what's going on. I guess that means if they don't open, I should call her? Or rather, have my mother call her since my using the phone is right out at this point. Wheeeeeeeeeee.

So that's that. I'm still kind of miserable, but getting better.

And now I will go watch the pretty thunderstorm.

MoobieMom made me french toast. I can eat french toast, because it's squishy and I won't have to chew it much. Yay!

Today I have a date with my couch and Flesh and Blood by Jonathan Kellerman. I think I'll score the Phillies game at 1, too, just cause I haven't done that in a while.

My pain and I are leaving now.
New ears, please. RIGHT. NOW.

Oh god. This sucks more than just about anything has ever sucked before.

I can barely hear. The rotten earache in my left ear has migrated to the right ear. I guess the right ear felt lonely and the left ear wanted to share. It feels like I'm underwater. Every now and then it feels like someone is jamming a red-hot poker in both ear canals. My face feels feels like a cotton ball from the inside. Advil and Sudafed are now doing absoutely nothing to help. Nothing. I tried hot compresses for a while last night, and a heating pad, and that worked only up to the point where putting any kind of pressure on my ears made everything worse. I think I maybe got a total of 3 hours of sleep last night, at 20 minute intervals. I tried the couch for a while, so I could be more propped up, and then MoobieMom got up and was making noise, which was making my head hurt (what little of the noise I could hear, anyway) so I came upstairs and tried again. But since the only position I could sleep in was on my back, it got old and uncomfortable very quickly and I gave up. And now I am awake. Beh.

This sucks more than my cramps usually do - at least with the cramps (and migraines, for that matter) I know that if I take Advil and have a lie down for a couple hours, the pain goes away. And with this ear thing, there is NOTHING that is working. If anyone has any ideas, please, for the love of all that may or may not be holy, please let me know.

For breakfast I ate applesauce because chewing hurts.

THIS. SUCKS.

OW.

I have a feeling I'm going to be at the doctors' office tomorrow using sick time that I really don't have.

My cramps have been beaten down with the Advil stick, but I woke up this morning at about 4am with a horrible earache. What the hell, dude. Not happy.

I also didn't remember that I really needed to get to the post office until, um, 10 minutes ago and now the post office closes in 15 minutes and I have way too much stuff to do there to do it in 15 minutes. So I guess I'll have to go on Monday. Beh. Oops.

Also the Cute Boy called again last night, but I feeling so ill that I didn't answer the phone. Poo. I will have to call him back sometime on Sunday night, because he went camping this morning, and I'm not quite sure that cell phones work in the woods at Knobels.

I am now going to run amok online. Whee.

Ow.

I now have slighty-less-than-really-horrible cramps. And no Advil. Swell.

I would like to leave now, and go home, and crash on the couch for a while, but I'm waiting for one of the nurses to come over and pick something up. She said she'd be here at 3. Three o'clock came and went 20 minutes ago.

Grumble.

Stuffs

Beh. Work.

I'm currently going through all the medical files and noting dates on a little spreadsheet. This is so, so tedious.

If Cute Boy (I've decided not to call him BSC) doesn't call me tonight, maybe I'll finish off that bottle of vanilla vodka I have in my freezer. Maybe I'll make Jello shots with it. Mmmm. Monkees episodes and vodka.

The weather is extremely blah up here and I'm feeling a general malaise, the kind that can only be cured by a week-long trip somewhere warm, sandy, and tropical, replete with fruity frozen drinks served in a hollowed-out coconut half with a little paper umbrella jauntily stuck in the top. But that's not very likely to happen, so I think I might stick with the vodka plan.

But then I think of how I talked to Cute Boy for almost 2 hours last night, and I brighten a bit. (For anyone I was talking to last night, when I suddenly disappeared, that's why. I wasn't actually intending on being on the phone that long...)

I feel like a teeter-totter today. I just hope the playground bully doesn't jump on the other end and launch me.

Oh, and welcome to my friends list, neon_geisha.
Yes, that's a new icon. And yes, that's really me. So for all y'all that didn't know what a Moobie looked like, there ya go.

Wow. I just totally had a sense of deja vu while typing that.

Moobie plays the Bidding Game

Grrrr! Someone outbid me on the Monkees comics!! I will now sit here until the auction ends. Time to play with the bid amounts...with live updates as they happen! I am in a mildly bitchy mood, I can feel cramps starting, so I'm totally not above sitting here and bidding at the last minute. If I can't have them, dammit, someone is going to pay more than they intended. No, I'm not normally vindictive...unless it comes to cool things that I want from eBay. With this entry, everyone can have a glimpse into the mild neurosis that overtakes Moobie when it comes to eBay and cool shit.

There are 11 minutes left. I have to wait at least until 5 minutes left to really play the game.
*twiddles thumbs*
La la la la...
9 minutes, 22 seconds.
*dances around to "Take On Me"*
7 minutes 34 seconds.
*bites nails nervously*
eBay's relatively new interface is kinda nice.
6 minutes 16 seconds.
5 minutes 36 seconds. Here I go!
Current high bidder at $46.00! Woo!
3 minutes 44 seconds.
3 minutes 25 seconds.
2 minutes 42 seconds. Still the high bidder.
2 minutes 06 seconds.
*heart beats faster*
1 minute 25 seconds.
0 minutes 59 seconds.
0 minutes 34 seconds!!!
SEVEN SECONDS.

WOOHOO!!!!!!

*Moobie does the victory booty dance*

Who just got 5 beautiful Monkees comics? Moobie did, Moobie did!
Who just paid a total of $51.00 (shipping included) for 5 Monkees comics? Moobie did, Moobie did!
Who is happy with that fact because if she'd found them at the dirt mall they'd have been $20 each, like the one she did find and buy there? Moobie is, Moobie is!

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!

Yeah. Okay. Neurosis over. Sometimes it really doesn't take much, ya dig?

Moobie on a break

I took a break from filing for all of about five minutes and decided to check out eBay on a lark.

Moobie, that was a really dumb idea.

Do I need the things I bid on? No. Well, yes in the "want" manner of speaking, but no, not really.

But they're cool.

One is Monkees, one is JWH.

*sigh*

I need to get back to work to earn the money that I'm going to end up spending on cool don't-need-but-WANT things on eBay.
