Worst friend ever!

Okay, I have no excuse for disappearing for nearly a year! I honestly don't expect anyone to read what is going to be a massively long update on my life in the last ten months.

First and foremost, I HAVE A JOB! I'm just a lowly dishwasher and believe me it's not easy where I am. I work for a fish and chip place where I do most of the small tiny little jobs that the line cooks don't want to do. Dishes, prep work, cleaning (omg so much cleaning!) I've been there for just over 10 months and while it's been hard with my anxiety, it's also been one of the best experiences of my life. My co-workers are amazing and totally understanding if I have to step out for a minute to calm myself down, my boss, while he can be angry nearly all the time is incredibly understanding of my current situation and is helping me get through it. I feel so proud to have accomplished what I have, and even though I am just a small dot in the thick of it, I am liked enough there that they'll listen to any concerns or ideas I have. I do complain a lot though, who doesn't right? I don't get any tip outs that everyone else gets, my first three months there washell because two of the line cooks (who are no longer there thank GOD!) totally ruined any chances I had of getting on the line anytime soon. It felt like they hated me from the start and tried to sabotage me - which almost worked if it wasn't for the owner of the business coming in and telling me personally they wouldn't fire me.

But like I said, the experience I'm getting is going to further my education once I go back to college. My supervisors are awesome, we constantly geek out together over Deadpool and Civil War and other awesome geekiness. It's like I've found my fellow geeks and I never want to leave.

On the college front - well I didn't get the money together in time and had to drop out for the year. And now I find out that low-income people like me will be able to go to school for free come 2017, so I might have to wait until then to finish my Culinary Management program. It sucks, but at least I'll have experience and will kick some butt once I get there.

Now that I have money I have a new laptop that is shiny and new and awesome. I still use the tablets when I'm out and the inspiration to write hits me. Yes, I still plan on becoming an author, not a famous one or anything, we can't all be like Queen Rowling but I think that the idea I'm playing with is new enough that it'll grab people's attention. But I'm not really focusing on that too much, I'm just trying to get through my work days and survive.

Nothing new on the relationship front sadly. Had a few blind dates but they didn't go anywhere.

Dad is still dad, though he is now proud that I have a job and is helping me with money when I need it because honestly, minimum wage at 15 hours a week is NOT a good paycheck at ALL. Once I've paid my bill I hardly have enough to struggle through the next two weeks haha

Yes, I've started a tiny collection of POP! figures, here you see Arya, Tyrion and Voldemort eyeing Slappy the Dummy from Goosebumps bobblehead that I just bought today. Behind my sonic screwdriver is Dany, who obviously hates the new companion.

Speaking of companions, how about that Doctor Who eh? So excited to see what she brings to the table, I'm just worried that she'll end up being like another Clara or Martha.

I won't go into how much I absolutely loved the last season of Downton Abbey because I'm still processing all that happened in the finale episode and how much I just friggin ADORE Phyllis Logan and my love for Dame Maggie Smith just grows with each passing second.

I won't talk about Alan Rickman because if I get into my montage of memories about him I'll just break down again and I can't go through that. I miss him terribly. My heart has been torn to shreds this year, the universe needs to stop taking away all my beloved people!

Hmm, this isn't as long as I thought. OH! I did go to my first live concert without panicking the entire night! I went to see Barenaked Ladies with Alan Doyle and it AS SO AMAZING OMG! What made it so amazing was that it was my money that paid for everything, and it felt wonderful to just spoil myself like I did. Sure, I didn't have the best seats in the house but I did get tons of pics and made new concert friends and sang my heart out to every song. I am now addicted to Silverball - if you haven't heard that CD you should definitely check the song out! Matter of Time, Duct tape Heart and Get Back Up are my definite go to cheer up songs for sure now.

Oh I almost forgot how I got to see Murdoch Mysteries being filmed in my city! It was the episode before the finale and I almost got to meet Yannick Bisson if I hadn't been late getting out of my meeting. I felt like such an idiot at missing him omg

So here's just a few random pics

My Annotated Book of Edgar Allan Poe

Barenaked Ladies concert - I think this was during the first encore?

Yannick Bisson and Thomas Craig of Murdoch Mysteries. It looks like Yannick is looking at me here but he isn't.

And finally, me wearing my gargantuan hairnet at work.

And this is what happens when you wash and dry your bus pass (yes it still worked!)

I hate doing this...

So it's time for my student fees to be paid and I find out that it's $500 just for my spot in the college. Nuts. Luckily I'm getting $250 from a relative but the other funds... yeah not happening yet.

I've set up a gofundme campaign (http://www.gofundme.com/vzwq54) I'm not really expecting people to help since I know I have to do this myself. I've been doing everything I can think of to get the rest of the money, including selling most of my books, the three posters I got from Bones, Fringe and Game of Thrones and I'm still $150 bucks shy of my goal.

In other non school related news I've ha 6 interviews in the past 3 weeks and STILL no job to be found. Everyone says I'm not doing anything wrong, my interview skills are amazing, it's just I don't have the proper experience that I'll get once I graduate.

Oh, and according to my dad I'm lazy.

And my laptop died :( Thank heavens for my tablet.

Hugs/kisses all around :D

Back from hiatus!

So I dropped off the face of the earth for awhile there. Okay, a LONG while. Part of it was because I had no internet for nearly 3 months, and the other part was because the second semester of college killed my social life to the point where I felt like a hermit.

So stuff and things have happened.

- School. Ugh. Why did I think the second semester would be easy? the labs were BRUTAL! Honestly, there were times when I didn't even feel like coming in because I felt like this huge idiot who didn't belong. But we were making food and I love making food so I stuck it out. My favourite class was when we were making danishes and turnovers. omg they turned out amazing and I got my best mark, which is probably why I barely passed the lab.

As you can see they look fantastic and tasted even better, even though I'm not much of a fan of apricots. We also made banana bread and orange nut bread. I didn't get to taste those, but I was assured that the nut bread I made was perfect. I guess I have a knack for baking, which would go well with my plans on becoming a caterer when I graduate.

And just because; here's trout.

I finished my first year of college with an average of 70%. Which isn't that bad, but I definitely need to work on not procrastinating when finals are coming or when assignments are due. I had major anxiety over my lab final since I needed a 60 to pass and I was only at a 42 going into it. Somehow I managed to get the 18 marks needed. Huge relief because the summer class is 500$ that I really don't have. Like really.

- Things have settled down; we're all moved in and loving the place. It's like we never left. We're more active now, and I've lost a ton of weight since going to Fleming which is a bonus. Now I just need a summer job to buy some new clothes haha

- I've made some amazing new friends who are coming back next semester so I won't feel so alone in classes. A few graduated this semester and I'm so proud of them for making it. The professors are the ones who get us through things. I didn't realize how stressful college could be until I went, but once I got to know my professors we became close and now I fully trust them. Except one. From the start of the semester she harassed me in class; calling me a man, saying my name completely wrong, telling me I'll fail if I don't do something I had no control over. It turns out this professor HATES the Culinary trade and thinks it's completely bogus. She treated everyone like crap to the point where I dropped her class and told the head of the program why I dropped it. Now he's thinking of removing her class from our curriculum because of how she treated everyone. Needless to say, she probably won't be here in September.

- I've had four interview since March alone. If I knew that going to college would get me interviews faster I would have done it sooner. I'm waiting to find out if I'm on the shortlist for the next round of interviews at a retirement residence. The chef there is wonderful and is fully supportive of what my schedule would be like if I got the job. I just need to find a place where I can apprentice. I'm hoping it'll be in a place that caters since that's my main focus; however I just want something where I can continue to learn.

And finally, here is a pic of me in my chef's uniform after being in the lab for 5 hours and then going straight to a 8 hour function for my field hours.

Update time?

So, college is an interesting experience so far, I have to admit. Out of all my classes I'm actually enjoying the business class, even though the professor needs to explain things more. All of our assignments are online so we can go at our own pace, but of course, I get them finished as soon as possible. The class is fun; we just sit around a table for an hour discussing companies and how we could make certain ones better.

Communications class is amazing though; we're reading this book about an economic hitman and it's more fascinating than I thought it would be. I'm pretty sure I'm going to pass this class with a low 'A', but right now I'm aiming at just figuring out things. We have weekly writing assignments on the book and choice questions about life that our professor has us do so she can get an understanding of how we write. And so far she loves my writing, I hate being boastful, but in the last 3 assignments I've gotten a perfect on each one so I must be doing something right.

Math is, well, math. I hate it and it hates me. I especially hate fractions with a fiery passion. This last week has just kicked my brains ass. I mean I understand adding, subtracting and multiplying and diving fractions, however it's when you get a list of fractions to do in a certain order that has to be precise that annoys you. And I'm really trying to understand, but it would be so much simpler if the textbook was easy to understand with simpler examples. We have to write the question out, but the textbook never does so we have a small problem with understanding how it got its answer. Ugh. I can do this.

Now my fav subjects are all Culinary of course; I have two on Monday and one lab on Thursday. I would love it if the bookstore would hurry the hell up with our Chef's Jacket and pants. they ran out of medium pants in the box set AND singles and assured us they'd be in on Monday. The Monday that just passed. WHERE ARE THEY? Chef Casey is getting frustrated with us coming to lab without our proper uniform and I'm annoyed that I'm making a bad impression on him. I'm a hard worker, i'm learning quickly and I'm enjoying the lab (minus waking up at 5:30 am to be at school for 8 for a five hour lab that kills my feet lol)

I know it's not our fault and he's not mad at us, but we're loosing marks for not being fully prepared and it friggen sucks. But, besides the uniform thing, the lab is fun, we laugh and joke around while working. Today we all made different stocks and can I just say that I will NEVER eat fish soup of any kind? Now that I know the process of how it's made, the thought of tasting it or smelling it makes me sick. I guess it doesn't help that I'm getting over a cold but yeah it wasn't pretty. The classes themselves are awesome; we're training in proper safety and will get a proper certificate if we pass the course which will be allowed in every province in Canada and not just Ontario, which is awesome since my Food Handlers expired last month.

I've made some friends in my three weeks and I know that most of them won't keep in touch once we graduate, but, for now it's nice to have people to complain and laugh with at school. I thought I would be alone there since I knew no one, but everyone is just awesomely nice.

but anyway, I need to be up for 7 so I can get to class by 9, but I promise to keep y'all updated!

Got my OSAP check today and had a mini anxiety attack when I saw how small it was;m until I realized that they sent the tuition to the school then gave me the remainder of the 60% so I can buy my chef's uniform and books and money left over. I did the calculations like fifty times, but I'm still worried because it still says I owe the money in my student site. I'll give it a few days because maybe they're still processing that, but still sometimes I hate being a cancer and such a worrier lol

College Orientation finished, now the real work begins.

So I woke up early, like 2 hours before I had too since I just couldn't sleep. I took a bus I don't normally take and was worried I'd be late, but luckily the bus was early enough for me to arrive ten minutes early so I could find the area where my program was.

And you know what?

IT WAS FUN!

We were separated into groups of 15 with about 20 people in each group and had fun playing games for about an hour before the Knights Ceremony began. Just silly stuff like hanging nails off a piece of string, hula hooping, the cookie on face game, tossing balls with lacrosse sticks. Our team lost, but we had too much fun to really care.

the Knights Ceremony was interesting to say the least since we all almost drowned from the rain. I tell you, standing outside while it poured and thundered while listening to bag pipes was actually quite soothing. We got these foam swords and had to wave them around while reciting an oath. It was great, completely relaxing and yet unnerving because there were so many students there.

I made some new friends though which was great. And I'm sure one or two of them will stay friends while the others will be aquaintances. But that's okay because it's to be expected. My professors seems nice and friendly and I'm now no longer nervous about starting.

4 classes tomorrow, the fun begins.

Another Labour Day come and gone, and just like every holiday it was rather boring and relaxing. I spent it watching the criminal Minds marathon and catching up on The Leftovers (OMG IT'S SO GOOD!) I'm trying to keep myself from stressing about Orientation on the 2nd, because I still don't have my OSAP and I'm afraid I'll be the only one not ready when we get into the kitchen. I know I won't be, but the fear is still there because I keep second guessing myself about whether I handed in all the forms. Every time I check the website it says the same thing, though I'm not getting what I thought; no they lowered it by 300$. How can I live on what they're giving me? Just because I'm living at home, doesn't mean I'm living there for FREE.

I'll be applying for bursaries and scholarships when they open up, because honestly I can't live on 250$ a month.

Anyway, I'm just going to have fun tomorrow, meet new people and figure out where my classes are.

Ahhh bliss

There is nothing like sitting around the camp fire late at night with music blasting in your ears while drinking Crown Royal Maple. How did my weekend go? Well...

- Left Peterborough for Stoney Lake at around 1pm; the guys were late because they had to make sure they had everything. By the time we got there, a few people were already setting up their tens and saying hi to everyone. I knew no one so I was extremely nervous, to the point where I almost had an anxiety attack before a woman noticed me and just hugged me until I calmed down. and it was weird because hello I don't know you. But she knew straight away that I was new and nervous and comforted me.

- Setting up a tent that you've never set up before is fun.

- Tripping over a rock and spraining my knee, not realizing it until the next day when it's impossible to bend. The pain was so intense I had to bite back my tears. Luckily someone brought a tensor and there was plenty of ice on hand so I iced it and kept it elevated. It still hurts like mad now, but at least I can relax completely and let it heal. Ugh.

- I. Hate. Outhouses. With. A. Passion.

-
Is this fire smiling or is it just me?

- Finding out your best friend is a hilarious drunk and wishing you took video evidence to use as blackmail later. No, seriously, he was dancing to and from the outhouse, singing off key to a song that wasn't even playing, saying how much he loved a pine tree that had been chopped down years before. Luckily he never confessed his undying love for me because that would just be too awkward. Though I do wish that he wouldn't get so sentimental bringing up very sad topics that left me feeling uncomfortable.

- Learning that I cannot, CANNOT handle chocolate liquor shots while drinking whiskey. Had a major accident late Sunday morning that left the inside of our tent smelling like death and me feeling like my throat had been torn from my body.

(me Saturday night pre shot) So of course on Sunday I had a hangover because of it, my first one ever. And it SUCKED SO BAD! They had to pretty much force me to eat that afternoon while waiting for the ride back home.

All in all though it wasn't bad. I got some sun (a little too much) have some awesome memories and plan on going next year because I'm now officially part of their family, and I made some amazing new friends and I can't wait to do it again.

Oh, and want to see a cake that looked too cute to eat but tasted delicious?

So dad finally gave in, after I told him I really wanted to go to College and I wasn't going to drop out if it got hard. I know it'll be hard, college isn't meant to be easy like grade of high school. I'm expecting to have days where I want to scream and cry. So he said he would help out. Cue this morning at 9:30am when he calls up saying he's here. I didn't expect him to be here so early since he told us he'd be here ay 11. After sending a prayer off we drove to the campus and I have to admit I think he was impressed with hos large it was.

Ten minutes later I got the receipt and can now say that in September I will be in College full time. This is really happening. After 12 years of wondering where my life is going I'm doing something about it. no more thinking, I'm doing. It still doesn't feel right, I don't think it will until I get my student card and it really sets in.

I'm going to college o.O

I've decided I'm not going to stress any more about OSAP or the whole fee thing. I won't be paying until the 2nd and already got an extension so no stress on my shoulders now. I'll just remain excited about going and meeting new people at the orientation in July.

In bus pass money news... still no money. I have no idea what is taking them so long to just push the button. I haven't done anything wrong, I've done EVERYTHING they've asked so I should get it. I know my meeting was last week with them but normally it only takes 2-3 days, not 7. I mean I could just walk 45 minutes to downtown but with this humidity lately my asthma has been acting up to the point where I'm using my inhaler daily.

I've been keeping up with the World Cup and watched the game last night when Suarez chomped on the other guy. I mean come on he's done this countless times before, it should have been expected. If anything he should be suspended, but I doubt that'll happen since he's FIFA's best player etc etc.

With Summer now among us I've been going out more, enjoying the heat. It's nice seeing everyone out and about but you know I just wish they didn't have to throw their garbage all over the place. This is usually such a beautiful city but with all the trash it's starting to look like a derelict overgrown town. With the festival starting soon and some amazing musical guests lined up I'm looking forward to a summer of awesome.

Howdy!

THanks for all the thoughts on my last post. I did end up calling the Health Unit and seeing if they had a copy, but since I took it back in 2004, I guess it was no longer in their systems so the nice lady thought it would be best to recertify. Luckily, I don't have to take the whole course, just the exam, so on July 2nd I'll be sitting the exam and getting my certificate.

On the potential job front; the second interview wasn't as stressful as I thought. the director just wanted to meet me, ask me about my training and if I could make sandwiches quickly since that's what their main seller is. I told him the truth that I have plenty of experience in that, and it would be no problem for me to do several orders at once. He never asked about my Safe Food Handler's cert, but I did tell him that I was recertifying and he said that it would be no problem. Only thing is, I'm not sure if I got the job or not. There were four other applicants who got to the second interview stage and I'm sure they were more experienced than I was.

But, you know, I'm not too worried about it, I'm used to being second place when it comes to these kinds of things. and it does get depressing knowing how close I was to getting the job. But he was nice about it, telling me that there's still a chance if the other people don't work out that I'll get a chance. Is it wrong of me to hope they'll fail?

At least I still have the potential volunteering job which will introduce me to an amazing network of people. It's basically working every Peterborough Petes home game and helping patrons find their seat, sell stuff, you know, the norm. Just working with my favorite OHL team is something I'm hoping to look forward too, plus it'll look amazing on my resume.

College front: I got a letter yesterday, but it wasn't an acceptance like I thought. Instead, it was one of those "Thank you for applying, if you have questions email yada yada yada. But it did have a student ID number. I'm not sure how Fleming works, but I did email the admissions office to ask if I missed something. I'm curious if they still have my transcripts or if I have to put them in the OCAS website, even though the woman at Fleming told me it would be fine if I gave them a copy before I applied. It was so easy back in 2002 to apply, the forms were simple. This blasted website asking for information most people forget after nearly 12 years. I'll just have to wait for the email response and see what I can do.

Finally got through Spring Cleaning hell and now I'm currently laying in bed with the laptop on my stomach too sore to move. Stepped on an open safety pin and it stings a bit. I feel filthy from the dust, but I'm way too lazy/sore to have a shower at 3am. I'm just not used to lifting boxes like I was before. This body of mind isn't 20 any more and I need to start realizing it lol

Need some quick advice!

I just put myself into a HUGE bind and I have no clue how to get out of it. So for years I was told I didn't have to re-certify for my Food Handler's Course. Today I had a job interview at this awesome cafe and the interview went awesome. I have a second interview tomorrow, to hand in references and talk with the director. One problem? They're asking for my certificate; one that I had lost years ago and now just found out I need to re-certify. I checked the website of the PHRC and they're booked until August. So should I just tell him I can't find the certificate because we're moving (which isn't really a lie) r bite the bullet, loose out on this awesome job because I was dead wrong? There's an online course that I could zoom through in 12 hours but it costs money that I don't have and I just found out I have a new social worker suddenly and she's stricter than my old one.

My second interview is tomorrow at 1. i just feel like such an idiot for believing those people.

Fuck you FOX. No really, just fuck you. Obviously you don't care about your fans one damn bit unless they watch Glee. If not then well "oh too bad, we'll just cancel everything you love" Does FOX realize what we fans have done to keep Almost Human on the air, giving them more promotion than they even did? What thanks do we get? "lolol cancelled!" \

It feels like such a slap in the face. I don't even know why I'm supporting them now. The only show I watch on it now is Bones, and even that is also on other channels. Not that my viewing from Canada means anything to them. They only care about American ratings.

Asses.

My poor muscles

I need to remember not to overdo things. Decided to surprise mom this weekend and do a massive cleaning spree since she's busy looking for a new apartment and I didn't want her to stress too much on the cleaning. We both hate cleaning. If things self cleaned we'd be happy, but no, dust and dust just loves to hang around. So, since the kitchen looked like a disaster (not really lol) I decided to roll up my sleeves and scrub the room down. It took the better part of the day, but when it was done it looked amazing and sparkly. I woke up this morning (Saturday) and omg my body is like one giant bundle of pain. Every muscle that I used is aching. But instead of taking the day off I tackled the bathroom and closets. Luckily they didn't take as long and I know I'm going to pay for it when I wake up but it was worth it I guess.

Now I'm going to be fangirling Sailor Moon Crystal for a few hours as I watch a live stream of announcements xD

So the impossible happened... I finally won a Fringe poster from @maskedscheduler! I've only been trying to win one for the past year and a half haha I don't even care what it looks like, I need to have Peter Bishop on my wall staring at me with his smouldering eyes.

I'm currently sitting here bored and waiting for my friend to show up. She should be here by 6, but knowing her, it'll be more like 7. Which in a way would be okay because mom is currently having a nap since I dragged her out of the house for a 4 and a half hour walk today.

Nothing to really update you all on, except this post took me 25 minuets to type out due to my sprained finger. Yup, seems that when I was rooting for the Petes to win on Tuesday I slammed my finger into the wall; has a nice little red line on the bottom part of the joint and is still swollen. Yay.

Gotta love the Playoffs!

With the OHL playoffs in full effect the town is alive with the screams of ravaged fans. I didn't expect this to happen, but dad is actually taking me to game 3 on Tuesday night, which is strange because the tickets are a bit out of his price range. I guess he knows how much I love my Petes and would LOVE to see them cream the Generals because we're down 2 games. But, we're the Kings of coming back from a deficit like that so I have complete faith. I mean, since the Leafs need to sell their soul to get into the NHL playoffs, I need something to scream about.

Today was actually an awesome day, which I haven't had in a long time.

- Went to Sobey's and spoke to the produce manager. Really nice guy who seemed really interested in me and even gave me an impromptu interview asking about my qualifications. In the end we both decided I wasn't right for the produce, but I was perfect for the Salad department, but sadly they're not hiring at this time. HOWEVER! He told me that one of the girls might switch over to the floral department, and I was on the top of the list to get hired. So yay potential employment xD So now I can wait until Dylan is working night shift and let him know what's up and see if he can put in a good word for me.

Other than that I didn't nothing special. Mostly played Rappelz, levelled up my Breeder to lvl 50 for the new epic on Friday and just lounged on my balcony since it was surprisingly a nice day out.

I wish I was somewhere warm right now. Like Hell. It should be warm enough to keep my body from shivering. It's so cold out that the heat isn't working like it should so I'm wrapped in three thick flannel blankets chugging hot chocolate. I'm so annoyed with this ridic arctic front that we're having. Like -38 with the wind chill??? Yeah, I live in Canada, and I'm used to cold weather, however there comes a point where I wish I was living in Miami or... well at this point I'll rent a condo on the sun. Supposedly it's going to be warming up in the next 2 days... LMAO!

How are the rest of you handling this frigid weather? Anyone ready for Summer yet?
