Just an update to say I'm alive. I'm also on tumblr by the same name.

All I've been doing lately is work, RP through LJ, and watch Supernatural. Finally made it past the Bugs episode and it got quite a bit more interesting. I've made a good dent into season two.

I hate the list of options on how to ID myself in order to leave a comment. Give my simplicity back.

New Year Resolution.

I work at a McDonalds, in drive-thru. I love it, because I can be social but only in small bursts. Well, what a lot of people don't realize is that as soon as you guys pull up to a drive-thru speaker... Anyone wearing a headset can hear you.

A lot of people are on the phone when they pull up, and I decided today that if they say it, I'm just going to start answering. This morning as she pulled up, a woman on the phone told someone, "I love you!"

I replied with, "I love you too, go ahead whenever you're ready!"

She thought it was hilarious.

It was about as fun as when a different woman pulled up to the window behind a van that had a sticker stating, "Fight like a girl!" I commented that I'd rather deal with that woman than whoever owned the truck that had "Turd Cutter" painted on the back of the cab. She hadn't seen it parked in the lot just a few feet away, but when I pointed it out, I thought she was going to choke from laughing so hard.

I'm hoping it doesn't come back to bite my ass, but today I changed my availability at work from 3pm-3am to 11am-3am, and 7am-3am Sundays. I heard they're likely to get rid of the overnights for at least the winter. If that happens, the overnighters are more likely to quit than to try adjusting to a new time, especially the guy who has enough scheduling issues as it is with his toddler seeing the doctor so much for a tube in his head to let out excess fluid.

I hope I don't have any more nights, or very few, like the one I had last night when I went to bed with time for several hours' sleep but only got around 2 hours off and on.

On the upside, I was there when the assistant manager told the GM that thanks to me coming in, Sunday mornings aren't terrible any more. They didn't have anyone that could do drive-thru from 7am-3pm and I managed to put my foot in my mouth and gain that shift by confusing the GM one night and commenting, "Aren't you glad I don't work with you in the morning?"

"Actually..."

Last night I was asked if I could come in today early. I said sure, how early.

"Six?"

"... PM?"

"AM, A. has an ACT test and can't come in."

She said she'd give me my own pot of coffee. I felt like I needed a coffee IV, but they said I did well. I kept managing to catch myself before offering someone an angus burger for breakfast. Not that I don't believe some of the people that come through could manage it, construction workers especially.

Now I'm going to hopefully nap just a few hours, because I have to sleep tonight to be in at 8am tomorrow. Ugh.

Me and my big mouth.

So, tonight I was working with both the head manager of the store and the assistant manager. I tend to say things in a way that makes people think, and ended up with the head manager almost perpetually confused around me. I made the comment, "Aren't you glad I don't work in the morning?" Because that's the shift she usually works.

"You know, that's a good idea! We can use another person on Sunday mornings!"

Next Sunday I'll get to work an 8am-4pm shift. Sob.

Wallet says, "Ow, my spleen!"

So with all the health care bill worry about whether my insurance will change, I decided to go ahead and use up what I had left of my dental insurance. Really wishing now that it had been more than $524, because ow. Not the tooth, the wallet. What even the dentist thought would be a filling turned into more. The cavity on my molar was shallow, but stretched either side along my outer gum line.

The drilling away the cavity started out fine... then the tool literally sunk into the tooth. Turns out there was a "pocket of decay", and she was very surprised it hadn't been bothering me. I'd just wanted to get it out of the way before the cavity we'd been able to see got worse, and I'd lose the tooth.

So, now I'm getting a crown. The woman that handles payments didn't know we were going to end up with a crown, or she said she would have barged in and stopped the work to tell me the cost was more than what the insurance was going to be able to cover. A lot more. I paid $200 today, and have to have the rest of the $400-something paid off before the final crown is set. If I hadn't had a 3rd pay period at the end of last month there's no way I'd have had that. Thankfully payday is this week, too.

Anyway, my temporary is probably the closest I'll get to looking like I have a gold tooth, ever. It's not even gold, it's some kind of coppery substance that's really rather flimsy. When they told me to bite down for the fit, I could feel it crunching. It actually came out looking better than I was imagining it would.

Now, I get to try to catch a few hours of sleep before doing my part of the yard work before sundown. I'd do it tomorrow if I could, but there's apparently the threat of rain. Sigh.

So! It figures it would take having the garage roof set on fire to actually get someone's ass moving on all the vandalism that's been happening. Actually, it took the fire chief having to come down here at 3:30am to douse a fire a few days after the window was busted, and being told that nothing had been done so far, and looking at some recent footage of this man stabbing out my grandparents' tires before they went back to Florida.

I'd not seen this footage in particular, but when the chief and his deputy watched they noticed something. The man had put his bare hands on the van twice- and the cops had not dusted for prints. He thought that was bullshit and went to have Words with the police on our behalf. I like this man.

So now, the police detective who has supposedly been on our case has gotten around to looking at all the evidence from the past year. This includes footage of a getaway van that my aunt later found sitting in the parking lot of Bud's bar, and took a photo of for further evidence.

They're 90% sure of who it is, after comparing a mugshot. They'll be dragging his sorry ass in for questioning. Even if he has alibis for all this shit, that things have progressed this far makes me happy. If they nail him, I believe I heard that it was at least 20 years for the arson alone. \o/

It's so fun when as soon as you get in to work they're telling you that your neighbor called, someone threw a rock through your window. Of all the times for me to forget to set the damn alarm and figure, "Oh, someone will be there soon anyway, it's not a big deal."

Aside from the alarm not being set, we have the act on camera- which I haven't looked at, because I don't know how to use it- and an eye witness that has his description from him running straight at her and down the alley across from the house.

The rock didn't manage to break through, because the windows were covered by a protective film Tami had had put on for just this reason. It does look incredibly spidery though, and there's glass on the front porch. They threw a chunk of cinder block hard enough to crack both panes of glass.

Dave is going to replace the window with one of the old ones, but it'll likely be temporary until we can get another of the double-pane to replace that. Which may take a while, since it's a custom size due to this being such an old house.

In the meantime, I was supposed to be starting work an hour ago, and Jenni is covering for me until either a police report is filed or my aunt gets here. I want to see the tape before I go, and I think I'll buy my neighbor a meal since I know she comes through my drive-thru at work. Or, maybe I'll get her a gift card. I know I want to do something for her, since she's being so helpful.

Lovely, lovely.

Sometime during the night someone jumped the fence- the tall, barb wire fence- to slash all four of my grandparent's tires on the van. Again. The first time it happened was when the van was parked on the street.

Do they not know we have a camera over there? Idiots. I don't know how to work the playback or I'd be seeing just how stupid they really are. I hope my grandparents' insurance covers it when it's off the street, too. Last time it cost $600 and was covered.

So it's a lot quieter around here the last couple days, in comparison to in general since the neighbors moved in.

Could be because 30 or so people that were in the front upstairs apartment were all arrested for dealing drugs and having a prostitution ring early this week.

Yep.

On the downside, there was a murder somewhere the next block over from us, and apparently the bedbug infestation is alarming enough to call Ohio the bedbug capital. I've not been bitten by anything yet, but you can tell what areas have them by the mattresses lining the sidewalks come trash day. One of my coworkers noted that he'd killed them in the dining room a few times, too. As many people that go through the store, with how close we are to the highway, I can't say I'm surprised. It does give me the creeps though.

My sister is coming over with her kids on Friday. I get to make sure the house is child-proofed, and then I won't even get to see them for most of the time they're here, because I'll be at work.

My dentist was happy, she got to use her favorite extraction tool again. At least this time the tooth was removed before infection could set in, so there was far less pain during the procedure (yes, even though I was numbed up very well the last time sucked) and the hygienist said there was hardly any blood afterward. I'm just glad the tooth in front if it didn't break, since she had pointed out the possibility of it, because there's a cavity in that one too and she needed to put pressure on that tooth to get my molar out. I took some ibuprofen and am now supposed to listen for the doorbell because Tami ordered more cameras to replace ones that are going bad. Sigh. Then I get to work a 9-hour shift, which is kind-of but not really amusing when the dentist's instructions are to take it easy the first 24 hours to keep blood pressure low. At least I'm off tomorrow.

This past week has been... interesting, in a way. Both some bad and some good.

One the one hand, we caught someone on video slashing the tires of my grandparents' van, all four of them. Their own van was clearly caught on tape, and later found outside Bud's bar. Gammal and Tami took pictures of it, but Gammal goofed and took video instead. I had to bring it up on my laptop from the SD card to get some screenshots, and Tami's going to see if her friend can convert the video from the security cameras to a format that'll play on any computer and not just on hers. They already had the plates run through the system, to find out the van belongs to a woman dating one of Bud's sons. We're pretty sure who it is on the video, even if he tried to cover his face while passing the cameras.

They'd been trying to cost us money, and doing that to all four tires would have been a lot, yes. Except my grandparents called their insurance company, a representative of which showing up to give them a check for $800. When they got a quote from a mechanic to replace the tires, he said $600. So they ended up with a $200 profit.

On the other hand, I put in an application online for Walgreens barely two days ago, because I want to be ready when November rolls around and McDonalds is cutting everyone's hours again. I got a call earlier this afternoon from a store further away from where I actually applied, and have an interview on the 28th at 1:30. I'm hoping to pick up one to two days a week, overnights.

This is a notice to warn you about an abusive user called fort_kanji. If this person adds you, DO NOT ADD HIM BACK. He has a history of enabling, cyber stalking, and harassing younger women.

The user fort_kanji, known in real life as Lohr Miller, is a close-to-sixty year old who lives in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He constructs an identity for himself on Livejournal that is predicated on pseudo-intellectualism and thinly veiled misogyny, racism, and sizeism. He values what he called BRDYTW girls, which stands for "bookish reclusive dangerously younger train wrecky," a new acronym to stand in for an older adjective he invented based on the condition of cachexia, in which a person suffering from cancer or another chronic disease loses weight and muscular strength as a result of the disease. These girls are invariably white; he has a history of coldly dissociating from nonwhite women because of their racial or ethnic identity. These girls are also preferably underage or in their early twenties. Mr. Miller has had a history of supporting and enabling eating disorders, drug abuse, and alcohol abuse in young women.

More info here.

I hate driving when it's been raining so hard and so much that roads get flooded. It was hard to stop at a light and I almost went through it; luckily it turned green as I was sliding into the halfway point and there had been cars around me already slowing down. Then on the way home there was so much water at one spot a car like mine had gotten stuck. Another little car had taken advantage of space between incoming traffic to reverse out of impending orz into the exit lane of a shopping strip. I should have followed him, instead I shuffled forward until I saw the problem. Realizing my own chances of crossing were as slim when I didn't have a big truck, I simply pulled a U-turn and drove into the grassy hill area then back-tracked to that little exit lane to go around. The plastic... thing, idk under my bumper hanging down took a beating on one side and I don't know how to fix it, but overall the rest of the car is fine.

What sucks is I have to go back out there in about two hours for an 8 hour shift. I'll sleep til then, which will add up to six hours. Sigh.

The realtor and our neighbor were supposed to come by today to look at the house at 6pm and didn't show. All he wants is the yard so he can expand his fledgling bar into a parking lot and outdoor area with tables and such. Tami thought he'd only want in to case the house, as he seems to be the shady type.

He's the one who's had to have the cops called on him multiple times this past weekend (I called myself on Saturday) due to all the noise of their partying until 4am. I'm the distance of two houses away, I should not be getting headaches from someone's bass.

Tami's friends with a cop that let slip some good news (for us): our neighbor is about to get shut down for selling alcohol without a license.
I wish the neighbors would have more respect for those living around them when they decide to host a very loud party in the 2-story sized garage next door. The music is terrible, like they can't decide what rap to play so they play three at once while letting someone do karaoke. The catcalls to people as they park on the street and go up the sidewalk makes it sound like it should be a male whorehouse inside. I'm honestly surprised the cops haven't shown up yet. If they have, they either didn't do anything or what they said didn't make a difference. I'm tempted to call and complain myself, except the guy who owns the place next door has voiced interest in buying our house (he mostly wants the yard lot to turn into a parking lot and outdoor bar), and I don't want to piss him off into changing his mind.

I'm getting some LJ notifs incredibly late from the last few days trickling in, so sorry if anyone thought I was ignoring them. The oldest so far is from the 24th. :/

Hi. I just got home. I didn't actually get off work premises until 5:30am, and had clocked in at 5:03pm Friday evening.

I had no idea there was a convention center near the Wal-Mart up the street from us. I didn't find out until the Latin Pentecostal Church decided to pay us a visit en-masse. The only places still open past 10pm were us (McDonalds) and Steak & Shake. I feel for Steak & Shake, because they were closer to the convention center.

One of the girls gave me her phone to take a photo of the dining room at one point. It was literally a sea of people. The line was four people wide, and trailing out the door down the side of the building.

I didn't actually get to start on the dining room until 1am, and cars were still coming through the drive-thru so I kept getting interrupted. That didn't peter out until after 2am, and since they wanted us to be doing deck-scrubbing out there I didn't actually finish until 5:14am.

Did I mention I'd only been scheduled until 10pm? The two overnighters cornered me and looked ready to jump me if I left at 10pm. They'd been doing it with just them and the manager for the last two nights that I was off work.

Not much to tell lately. Kaya went to the vet overnight for what turned out to be a mild urinary tract infection. They gave her an antibiotic shot so I wouldn't have to try to get her to take pills, and gave me three oral syringes with another antibiotic type thing that she actually loves the taste of and will sit licking until it's gone. She gets her next dose tonight when I get home from work. I'd put a little away for winter's rent when work hours will go down, and it ended up all going to cover the bill. On the upside, since I'm technically paying my share of the utilities about 2 months late, my payments are going down for now. I had enough left over from my paycheck to get back what I spent at the vet, and one or two more paychecks of saving extra will have me back where I should be savings-wise.

A downer today was slipping on the steps while carrying the cat. Gammal had been told to put mail on the steps, but one would think she'd put it out of the way of feet. I ended up stepping on a magazine, the cat clawed my chest in a panic and my ankle is complaining when I step on it a certain way. I think I pulled a tendon or something along the front above my foot, and am hoping it isn't some hairline crack where it had broken before, because it feels like it's the same area. It doesn't look swollen, which is good.

Something that made me smile tonight was while joining a party in Fiesta on a whim, I got told I was a good archer. My build is unconventional and focuses more on giving my guy HP and evasion, rather than making his attacks powerful and leaving him a glass cannon. I'm happy because that's the third time this past week someone made that comment to me. I especially love the skill that lessens my threat to mobs and has the monster going after the other guys instead. One of the guys' guild leader had tagged along, a lv88 cleric that was pretty awesome all around. Unfortunately he couldn't get in to the dungeon due to his level, so I spent most of my time gaining gray hair and trying not to lure in the boss when we just needed his henchmen for someone's quest. I think I did pretty well for being the lowest leveled member, and made two new friends who I'm betting think I'm male like my character is.

I've been getting upset and unable to figure out why my cat would do things like pee on my bed or on the bathroom rug upstairs when she's up here with me, and even bought a litterbox to put in my room because I thought maybe she couldn't hold it until she got to the one on the first floor in time. Watching her last night, with how often she went to it and for how long, I think she has a urinary tract infection. I made her an appointment with the vet, so she gets to go to that at 3 tomorrow. Hopefully it's over with before I have to be at work at 5. She seems so needy right now, and I feel like an ass for all the stress she'll be having tomorrow with the car trip and the vet's office in general.

So late tonight, a regular customer came through with her 6 (or so) year old daughter after swimming at the YMCA. I notice and point out a 2-inch wide, white spider sitting on the glass outside on her front passenger window.

"Oh, I hope it isn't inside," she says. Little girl is on alert.

Then mom rolls the window down. She said she was hoping to knock it off the car that way, but guess who decided to come on in and pay them a visit? :D

They're both pressing closer to my side of the car, the girl shrieks. I tell her to get her shoe and get ready to beat it to death if it comes near her, and give the mom a cup to do her own beating with before going to check the order, as they were waiting on fries to finish cooking. I return about three minutes later with the food ready.

"Did you find him?"

"We found him twice, it's catching him that's hard!"

I then pointed him out on the underside of the rear passenger door's handle. Cue the girl screaming and making a leap for the front seat, sandals flying while mom tries to swat it. She lost it again, and we hurried to get the food in the car before she could pull over into the parking lot. I then watched them both leap from the car, shake and pat themselves down before hunting the spider again.

I'll bet next time, she thinks it through when there's a spider on the window. If I hadn't had someone behind her by then, I would have gone ahead and caught it for them myself, since we were mostly dead at the time.

Took a trip to Cincinnati to get mom and go for the $10 bag of books I'd been saving for. Half my bag ended up being Disney movies anyway, but I finally found book one of the Belgariad, so I am happy. My mom came out with another two big bags, and this is probably why my back hurts. Napped over there before driving home, because the news said there was a flood watch from 4am-4pm. Looking outside, I have to wonder if that ever amounted to anything or if I slept through it.

Managed to sleep through most of the noise of the bathroom pipes being worked on at the end of the hall. The cold water hadn't been working well at all, though I hardly noticed since I take baths with hot water.

My aunt caught me on a zombie-trip to the bathroom downstairs and told me about how her renters are, well, douchebags. She's done a lot for them, even waiving the rent one Christmas because they couldn't afford to get their kids presents one year. They decided to move out and go somewhere with another bedroom since the kids are old enough that they shouldn't share a room anymore. She went over there to meet up with the guy, who has been bugging her for one more day all week to get the place cleaned up. He wasn't there but she went into the house anyway. They'd left meat to rot in the freezer, the off-white carpet was brown, junk is everywhere and they piled garbage in the basement. The litterbox had the look of never having been cleaned, and there was cat poop in piles where there wasn't garbage. They even stole the special plug off the dryer.

Apparently being out of state will give you a clean slate with background checks. If they'd done this sort of thing in Ohio before, there's no way my aunt would have rented to them. His wife will likely try to get him to cut and run, but two guys who are friends with my aunt offered to deal with the meat and garbage for her. The guy had shown up to grab things he'd still left behind while they were dealing with the freezer and left shaking, with the promise to have the place fixed up by Monday. Jeff had gotten Tami on the phone to hear the whole thing, about how if he didn't keep his word Jeff would hunt him down and didn't care if he went to prison for it, as he'd been there before and it wouldn't phase him to go back. Told Tami after the guy had left that he'd been offered the phone to say something to Tami and had been shaking so bad he couldn't even hold it. I'm thinking no one ever cornered and threatened him like that before, and I think he deserved to get the piss scared out of him like that. I hope it scares him enough that he does what he said he would.

Another day where a bunch of bosses decided to use our store as a meeting place. Only this time, they were trying to all fit into the tiny office. The manager actually running the shift couldn't even get in there to get into the safe, and had resorted to keeping his deposit drawer in an unassigned register, with the contents of the drawer that should have been in there in his pocket. At one point I needed change and he took one look toward the back and told me good luck with that, he couldn't even squeeze in there. I told him to suck it in and he could. Those guys didn't leave until after 8pm.

He was off at 10, and was so frazzled by that point that he'd headed to the back of the store where I was and forgot what he was after.

"Wait, what am I doing back here?"
"I don't know, but where are your pants?"

After seeing him actually check that they were still there, I told him to go home.

Seeing Sharon-mumma taking up working with beads makes me want to try my hand at it, but I don't know what I'd do with what I created, or even where to start. Earrings of any sort make my earlobes itch lately.

My mom made out like a bandit with books, saying it was like three Christmases in one day. She plans to make my little brother drive her down more this week, after finding out they'll be adding to what's on the floor as books are bought. I didn't see any by Lynsay Sands, and ended up with just three books for $1.50. I plan to go back on Friday to get a bag for $10 and just stock up on raunchy romance novels and the like.

For now, I am effing tired after driving down, then back up. A nap seems to be in order.

My mom is so excited about getting new books today. I got a call from her 10 minutes after my alarm went off to make sure I was up. She was talking about borrowing her neighbor's wire basket on wheels so she could get a ton. She also said my sister really wanted to know when I was coming down- I really hope she doesn't expect me to babysit. She isn't usually excited to know I'm dropping by for any other reason. ._.
