{"id":3532,"date":"2017-11-03T13:27:30","date_gmt":"2017-11-03T20:27:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/modeeffect.com\/?p=3532"},"modified":"2026-01-14T03:03:59","modified_gmt":"2026-01-14T10:03:59","slug":"wooconf","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/modeeffect.com\/wooconf\/","title":{"rendered":"WooConf 2017 Recap"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Okay.\u00a0 Here comes a super brief recap of WooConf!\u00a0 I just saw the videos went live and wanted to share the two keys I was most excited about at last month&#8217;s event.<\/p>\n<p>I had an opportunity to attend <a href=\"https:\/\/fast.wistia.com\/embed\/iframe\/o164wqjfh5\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">and speak<\/a> at the annual conference for WooCommerce.\u00a0 It&#8217;s called WooConf.\u00a0 And let me tell you it was a fantastic opportunity to learn and spend time with the developers responsible for pushing this platform forward.\u00a0 This year&#8217;s conference was specifically focused on developers.\u00a0 In fact, the word developers were in the title.<\/p>\n<p>WooCommerce invited the leading minds in the space to share on the future of the eCommerce platform driving around 30% of the internet&#8217;s online stores.\u00a0 There was a lot of great takeaways to help developers serve their customers and in turn, create a more scalable and robust platform for smaller and larger stores alike.\u00a0 Although a reoccurring\u00a0topic of the conference was &#8220;scale.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>One particular concern with WooCommerce from the outside is the criticism on scalability.\u00a0 Many critics of WordPress and WooCommerce pick lack of scalability as the primary\u00a0challenge with running an eCommerce store on Woo.\u00a0 So this was a topic many speakers took on to demonstrate efforts towards creating eCommerce stores that scale.<\/p>\n<h2>The future of WooCommerce<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/toddwilkens?lang=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Todd Wilkens<\/a> (the head of WooCommerce) kicked off the conference to share on the upcoming roadmap and immediate future of WooCommerce.\u00a0 This marks the first time we&#8217;ve had a specific head of WooCommerce come out and take us behind the veil to share where the platform is going.
