The most powerful production chainsaw in the world. Stihl MS881 !!!!
Like slicing baloney with a really heavy knife.
it’s 21 lbs, whereas the 066 is 16.
I usually measure my day by the tankful. Two tanks on the 066 gives me 4 big wheelbarrow loads. Quarter of a cord, give or take. With splitting and tossing them around, that takes me well into the afternoon.
The 880 used gas twice as fast, but 4 tanks got me into the afternoon, somewhat. I’m not sure how much it cut. At least 3X, maybe closer to 4. I still haven’t split it all up.
The weight does the work, you just follow it down while it rattles the hell out of you. Definitely feel it in my joints. Need thicker gloves.
Proof of life

That’s a 066, on the left. 25 yo, or so. Also have the 360 and the 046. The old ones have been through many cylinders. Do yourself a favor and richen that hi rev screw right up. Mandated lean will burn your piston down. (you can turn right through the limiter)
A couple of warnings:
The kick back is massive. Control that nose. It will hurt, even if you catch it.
It’s even worse on your joints than all the other things.
Once you get control of the trigger you can ride the torque band and really dig through the wood without high revs. If you go too low doing this, and the chain stops, It buries itself deep in the wood, and it’s a bitch to even roll it out. I know, they all do that. Fair warning. You can see a couple of the guys struggle with it on Utoob. They know to use the torq but it’s a brand new trigger. stuck
The rest mostly high rev., and one little SA guy torquing through tropical hardwood like a pro.
10-12 cords left to cut. Can’t wait to get back out there
