I mean, I know that I basically, uh...never use LJ anymore. Not for posting and stuff anyway. I still use it to read other people's entries! But almost everyone I know is on plurk now, so I generally use that on a day-to-day basis.

But I do intend to start posting, if not often than at least regularly, and I feel like starting fresh will help out with that. Also, I'm just really bored of this username. XD Did you know I've used "mizure" for practically everything for nearly a decade now? Yeah.

Another average day passes with little in the way of true events. I must say though, I'm growing increasingly concerned about the acidity levels in the soil these days; it's beginning to work a bit on my bottom roots. I suppose that is simply the way it goes after you get past your golden decades. One must watch where they go out- you can't simply just spread roots whether the ground may go! You have to be a little careful, otherwise it always seems to come back and before you know it there's nothing you can do but ride out the crap that follows. God, I remember once not too long ago I got mixed up with this pair of oaks and let me tell you, they sure did have some acidic roots if ya know what I mean!

I keep reading reports about particulate matter and such in the air and I think I can start to understand what they're talking about. The old chloroplasts are having a bit more difficulty getting in all the carbon I need, and god, there's always too much of that freaking oxygen mucking up the atmosphere. I wish we could get the senate to start lobbying about that! Eh, what do you expect though, when all the weeds care about is getting Prop 19 passed so they can hang out with Mary Jane and not worry about getting caught out in public?

One thing I have to say though, I keep seeing more and more of these horrible bleach blonde palm trees settling in the area. Ugh! Where do they think they are, Hollywood? Sure, it was one thing when they'd just pass through and you could appreciate the novelty of 'em, but now that they're always around it really gets annoying. I mean, how have they managed to get that accent to sound so harsh on the fronds? And yet all of us other Valley plants have to deal with the stereotype that they create. I'm sorry but no, we spruces are nothing like those blasted idiots. Some of us even know how to complete photosynthesis!

Anyway, I guess it really is the same things as always. Hopefully I'll be able to talk about something more interesting later. A cedar buddy of mine is going to go watch the Bulldogs go up against the Lobos tomorrow. Hopefully he doesn't get peed on.

I finally finished revising my story for English last night at about four in the morning and emailed it to the teacher. I finally said "fuck it, I'm not doing this anymore." I did not like the way the class crit'd it, and I decided that I didn't care enough to pander to them. I'm supposed to pander to the teacher, not a bunch of dolts who don't know what a metaphor is and need me to explain every little thought to them. Ever heard of subtlety? Or maybe inferring this crap yourself? Christ, you're not in second grade, I shouldn't have to break the fourth wall and write out the moral of the story for you.

Whatever. Long story short, this means I am OFFICIALLY DONE WITH THE SEMESTER. IT'S VACATION TIME BABY.

I woke up this morning and mom was home since she's taking the entire day off to bake a bajillion cakes for her school carnival. So I had cake for breakfast. Aw yeah, this vacation is off to a good start.

It's a spread of Cafe Alpha from Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou that someone colored! I found it on Danbooru, I think. Not much to say about this one, that series is filled to the brim with scenery porn. Hnnnngh I love it. I just liked the colors so I used it. 83

Speaking of YKK! I ranted about the second OVA a while back but my download for the first one was botched so I couldn't watch it. Well I finally found a working torrent and got to watch it. The first one, aside from being much prettier, was mercifully NOT shot like a cheap porno! THIS PLEASES THE MIZU. It was really great, actually. It was exactly what I expected from an anime version of YKK- for example, it contains a seven minute scene of Alpha spending the entire afternoon making a single cup of coffee and then not drinking it. BEAUTIFUL.
Did I mention it's prettier?

The OVA is not a substitute for the manga, it's a supplement. Though I still can't recommend the second one at all. 8| It's bad and the people who made it should feel bad. But the first one was gorgeous.

And I found the soundtrack too! AAAAAH now I really want to play Alpha some more. I still want to do an open cafe log soon.

Okay. I finished my last photo...barely. And I'm going to pretend it doesn't exist because I ruined it. Just ruined it. I'm so mad. But it was done and I was out of time so I turned it in anyway. What can he do, fail me? Same result if I didn't turn it in.

So that's it, last day of class is done. Two finals on Monday and I have until next Thursday to email in my revised story. As soon as I do that, the year's over. And there was much rejoicing.

Notes: Simoun is pretty interesting when it comes to gender. Since everyone in their world is born female, you'd think that gender roles wouldn't be as relevant. Surprisingly not! Young girls often have relationships but these are kinda seen as...well, relationships with training wheels. It's still a one-man-one-woman system once you're an adult. Well, since Limone is so young, gender is still kind of invisible to her. Because of the whole "pair" system in Simoun, Dominura is canonly her soulmate/life partner, and they never do choose their genders. So technically, she'd be considered a lesbian. If she were allowed to grow up normally she'd probably be straight just because that's how it is. But it's more like gender simply doesn't exist for her yet, so if it ever came up she wouldn't really care.

Alpha does have a crush on Takahiro for a while, but she refuses to let herself feel that way for him. This is the more important part of her sexuality - she won't let herself fall in love with a human. She knows that she will outlive them, so this is the one line she refuses to cross. She instead encourages Takahiro and Makki to get together because they can actually be together throughout their lives.
