If you have any complains about the way I play Julian here, please do tell me! I'm very open to criticism so don't be shy, I assure you I won't take it in a bad way as long as it's constructive.

Canon fails go here too. If I was mistaken about something from Julian's canon please do tell me, I won't pretend I've read everything marvel ever :(

Name: Julian Keller / Hellion
Canon Point: Taking him from X-23 #18. He’s just been kidnaped into a parallel dimension as he was trying to help Laura babysit Reed’s kids. Aaaand there’s a dinosaur!
Is this character dead? Nope!
History: One link and another for you guys.
Personality:
If you ask around, everybody will tell you Julian is a jerk and kind of an asshole. And they would be utterly right. He says whatever comes to his mind and sometimes in the most hurtful way. He’s always honest, but not everybody likes to hear whatever he has to say.
Don’t get mistaken though, he’s not mean or evil on purpose. He’s just himself, and he thinks that if he offends anybody by what he says it’s their own problem, not his.

His parents didn’t exactly disown him or treat him any differently just because they discovered he was a mutant, but they did ask him to keep his powers low profile. To a guy that has always been treated like he was the most perfect kid ever and was used to be daddy’s guy, that didn’t exactly sit right with him even if he accepted it. To Julian his powers were supposed to be flaunted and exhibited, something to be proud of and not something to hide from and pretend that didn’t exist. He thinks the mutants are supposed to be better than the ‘Homo sapiens’ and he will be more than happy to remind everybody.

That doesn’t mean he thinks the “normal” human beings are disposable and something to be stepped on. He doesn’t see them as the enemy and he refuses to kill them (just like he refuses kill anybody, really). He thinks normal human beings set some kind of standards, and maybe those were right for them… but the mutants should rise above them.

Like I said Julian was used to being his dad’s favorite, and on the long run that has made Julian seek some kind of bond with people in a position of power.
…Well, it isn’t really like it sounds. He doesn’t exactly go out of his way to please them and he will always, always be known for being the worst kind of troublemaker. He doesn’t adapt to please his mentors, he simply makes his mentors adapt to his personality and his way to do things. Hence why he got along with Miss Emma Frost way better than he never did with Dani Moonstar: they see the world in a similar way. Rules are alright, but not perfect and much less absolute. That works peachy for them until he refuses to attack X-23 during a virtual simulation of a mission and saves her instead, making Emma get angry at him.

He likes following his mentors, yes, but he is not their tool or weapon.

Even if he’s probably the one who has caused most havoc in the school he’s still a good friend to those he considers friends. Especially as he grows, he’s proven he’s always one to be relied on and will do whatever it takes to protect his fellow mutants. He almost fights the police to get them to free Wither when he was (rightfully) accused of accidentally killing his father, he refuses to let officers in the airport discriminate his two friends Cessily and Santo because they didn’t look normal even if he could easily pass as a human himself… he’s full of pride, yes, but he’s also proud of the mutants around him and he will fight for those who can’t fight for themselves. He’s a team player: the only time we have seen him cry was when he lost most of his team during the ‘House of M’ event, blaming himself and terrified of losing Sofia too if he wasn’t careful.

If you get on his bad side, though… except to be there for long. He isn’t exactly a bully, he has never raised a hand against somebody if they didn’t raise it against him or his friends first and his pranks are rarely offensive, but he still has a way to show his dislike for specific people. He teases them, provokes them… he’s not the smartest crayon on the box but he still manages to use his words to his advantage.
Sometimes you don’t even have to do anything to get on his bad side. Sometimes there’s just something about he doesn’t like. Probably you stole a spotlight that was supposed to be his.

We get a look to his wishes and desires on the ‘Hellions’ mini-series. When given the chance he doesn’t wish for health or fortune or love. He already has those (even if his parents had disowned him at the moment). Instead, he wishes for fame and glory. He wishes for his name to be known all over the country. Even all over the planet- and for people to look up to him as his savior and hero. He wants to be big; he wants to be one of the X-men one day. It isn’t about acceptance or belonging. It’s more than that, he wants to be big one day, and he’s sure he will be.
He also knows it won’t just come to him though. He trains, practices, does his best to make the most of his powers and he’s a fairly skilled leader when needed to be. His parents worked hard for the money they got (or so they told him), and they taught him to do the same.

When his dreams get trunked (loss of his hands, waking up and finding most of his friends to be lost or gone, getting stabbed in the back etc- the guy hasn’t had a happy mutant life), he’s completely and utterly lost at first. He’s angry at the X-men, angry at himself, angry at the world and everybody in it. He doesn’t throw a hissy fit or complains about it though. He isn’t 5. He gets visibly angry and alienates everybody around him, yes… but he also waits. Plans. He knows it’s just a matter of time until it’s his chance to get things right and he’ll be ready when it comes. If life gives him lemons he will make lemonade alright, but he’ll be waiting for the first chance to throw that lemonade right into the life’s eyes. That kind of attitude has gotten him compared to Magneto himself, even if Julian would disagree.

When it comes to his feelings Julian is… to say the least, a little awkward. He’s a romantic at heart and he shows that with Sofia, the girl he was in love with since Julian first met her (until she left to Venezuela without saying a word)… and X-23, the girl he’s currently slowly getting a crush on. He tells them what he admires about them, he teases them to get their attention, he tries to get them to join his team and makes their life hard once they are in it, gets jealous of those around them but doesn’t admit it… doesn’t that sound familiar? Julian is just your average awkward teen in love.
He has a hard time showing affection that goes past friendship, and even admiration goes a little too far for him. When one of his teachers got killed in fight Julian didn’t attend the memorial and funeral… instead, he went to the place where he’d teach him how to fly and try to do so on his own to make him proud wherever he was.

So, in short… Julian isn’t a bad kid per se, but he is far from being an angel.

Skills | Powers:

Julian is a telekinetic. What does that mean? Well: his mutation allows him to move things with his mind.
He’s a powerful mutant and has learnt to use said ability to make his body fly, create physic shields to protect himself or others, create platforms to transport people… and he could probably learn how to do a lot more given time.

After he asked Miss Frost to unlock the unconscious block his brain had on his powers he had trouble controlling it when it came to moving little things like a paperclip, but he’s still strong and able to destroy a whole room with his telekines.

Lately he’s also been shown to be able to manipulate things on a molecular level, but we don’t know how far he could take that.

It should maybe be noted that unlike other people with psychic powers he doesn’t use his telekinesis directly from his mind. He uses his hands instead, that grow bright green when he’s using his power. When he lost them after second coming the green glow began covering his whole body instead, but he still directs his powers form the place where his hands used to be. Also, once he lost his hands he was able to control the power better somehow, but that could also be thanks to his training.

About his weaknesses… well, it is a physic power so it requires concentration. If he loses it, he can’t use it. He might be skilled, but there are way more powerful mutants out there- he is hardly invincible.
Think of the telekinesis as his weapons and armor: he can hit with it, it protects him, but he can still be wounded. I’d also like to mention that since Julian relies so much on his power getting it taken away makes him an easy prey. He’s strong, but he hasn’t exactly been trained to fight without his powers.

Third Person Sample:
(Taken from canon)

When Miss Frost told him to take out X-23 first he... well, honestly he wasn’t as happy to do so as he had expected to be. She was weird, yeah… and they had kinda been forced to accept her in their little group. They had been told she could kill them all and he really believed that. She kept saving him when he obviously didn’t need to be saved.
So it’s not like he didn’t have reasons to dislike her.

But he was not a tool or- or some kind of weapon for Emma Frost to use. He was kind of alright with being teacher’s pet (not ‘any teacher’s pet’ though, Emma Fucking Frost’s. Woman made ice melt, she was that hot) but he still felt uneasy about the entire ordeal. They were Homo superior; they were supposed to be better than this.

In the end he didn’t even have to choose. He saw her stay still, completely unable to move. He knew what that mean. He thought that was his turn to attack her, and he was ready to do so. When he saw Santo go towards her though… well, he didn’t even have to think about it. He just rushed towards her and pulled her up. Santo seemed surprised, she seemed surprised… even he himself was kind of wondering what the hell had he just done. He knew what he would find once he looked up. Frost’s face, disappointed and angry and ready to lecture him and ask him what the hell was he thinking. He couldn’t really care less about it at that moment though, as he held Laura in his arms.

“Now we’re even. No one saves me.”

So, in short… Julian isn’t a bad kid per se, but he is far from being an angel.

History: Here ya go

Strengths:
His strengths when it comes to personality have already been explained on the above section so I will keep it short.

Julian’s main strength is his stubbornness. When he’s set on getting a job done, he will. His pride and lack of fear also come in handy in a fight: he will not let himself lose, no matter what it takes. He’s also a good team-player, always making the most of his teammates’ strengths and making sure they don’t get hurt. He’s not extremely smart, but he isn’t a dummy either and he’s good at coming up with tactics on fighting ground- and even when he isn’t he’s smart enough to ask for help to somebody more capable (…alright he doesn’t do it right away, but he knows when to stop and ask). That’s probably what makes him a good leader, even if he’s sure that’s because he’s powerful and strong.

Speaking about powerful, let’s talk about his mutation:
Julian is a Telekinetic. That means he has the ability of moving things with his mind only. Unlike most telekinetics (whose power comes directly from their mind<8 his powers seem to focus on his hands, making them glow green when he’s using his powers along with his eyes. When he loses his hands the glowing extends to all his body but that’s not the case in the point I’m taking him from. He’s powerful, even more so after Miss Frost frees his brain from the subconscious block he had on his powers.

He can blow up things, fly at almost match 3, create platforms for other people to step on and carry them, create shields to protect his teammates and himself…

He’s having a little trouble with moving the little things after the unblocking of his brain and his powers go overload (bowing-walls-and-sometimes-an-entire-room overload), but he’s shown to get exponentially better. He isn’t the most powerful telekinetic, but he’s a rather powerful mutant.

Weaknesses:

His pride and stubbornness might get on the way sometimes as a weakness, too. It takes longer than it should for him to admit he’s wrong and change plans, and he will never back down a fight even if he should. He would never put his friends or teammates in danger, but sometimes he doesn’t take all the risks into account. He’s also neither as trained nor as experienced in fight as the other X-men are: he’s still a kid. And kids make mistakes.

His powers are based on concentration, so if you manage to get him to lose it he’s an easy prey. He’s aware of that though and has trained to need little effort to control his powers, so it wouldn’t be an easy task. Lady Deathstrike slid her claws into him because he wasn’t paying attention and creating a shield, so even if his telekinetic powers are usually able to protect him from physical attacks he’s as vulnerable as any normal kid when he isn’t using them.

He relies way too much on his powers. If he loses his telekineses or somebody with an ability to block psychic powers does so he would so not be ready to fight with his fist alone. He’s strong but not trained.

Preferred drop-in point: Seattle, but I’m not picky.

What are some of your plans for this character in their new environment?
Well… at first I’d like for him to cause a little havoc around. Try to contact people he knows, make sure this isn’t some kind of tricky brain thing. Once he’s convinced he’s really there he’d go to hell and back to go back to his right timeline.

After he’s spent enough time in here to know he isn’t going back anytime soon, he’d try to join the closest to the X-men group he can find. He’d try to defend people’s right no matter what and make a hero out of himself.

First Person Journal Sample:

[There’s some shuffling around as Hellion moves the camera. You can see him alright already but he’s trying to find a good angle.

Hush, there’s always time to take care of the little things.]

So, it’s almost Christmas. Not sure if that means anything to anybody else- not that it means much to me on the religious sense but it was kind of my favorite holiday back at home. And nope, not just because of the presents so saaaave those jokes smartasses.

[He shrugs a bit]

Dunno, I was wondering if we could get something ready? I mean I’m sure getting a tree wouldn’t be that hard and I could hang all the decoration and stuff on it, it wouldn’t be that hard. And maybe some lights?

I was just thinking out loud I guess, I’m not good at coming up with ideas for these things but it seems kind of unfair to miss the whole Christmas spirit thingy, right?

If anybody has any ideas, hit me up!

Third Person Sample:
(Taken from Canon!)

He hadn’t liked her at first.

And not because she was a clone or whatever- he knew she was as much of a mutant as he was, and they weren’t supposed to judge each other. They got enough of that from normal ‘Sapien’ people, if they didn’t stick together what did they have left? So yeah, he was totally cool with her being Wolve-girl. Peachy.

It was how she… acted, how she behaved. She was weird, to put it lightly. She managed to make everything sound like a thread. She looked at all of them as if she could slice they head opens before they even knew what was going on. The worst part was that it was probably true.

And then she kept saving him. Yes, she had been trained since forever and she was Wolverine’s clone and totally awesome, did she have to keep rubbing it in? Whatever. He’d proved he could save her ass back, he didn’t like owing anything.

But it took seeing her almost die, it took having to lift her from the ground for him to realize that she made mistakes too, that she wasn’t miss perfect weapon. That she needed him to be there for her, too. Like every mutant.

“We have to help her!”

Prodigy told him there was no way to get her back in time without the blackbird. Seriously who the hell would follow him, the guy was a wuss. Laura didn’t need logic right now, Laura needed-

“Then I’ll get her there.”

He grabbed her gently, getting the hell out of there and flying away before the others had time to complain or ask. He reached telepathically for his mentor, waiting for her reply. She hoped she’d hear him anyway; there was only one thing on his brain at the moment. Like a mantra.

“Stay with me.”
