not sure what to wear

So, at the end of the Month we are taking out engagement pictures. yeah, we have been engaged for a while, It comes with the package for the photographer and it would be nice to have them.

After looking at engagement pictures and seeing people look kind of blah and boring, and also seeing some really cool ones, we made a choice. We are doing it at a comic shop. One thats cool and we like and just looks amazing inside. We spoke with the owner and he will let us come in before open and do it. Our photographer loves it and is going to be going to the shop this weekend to take a look and give us some ideas before hand. Now comes my hard part. What the hell do I wear?
I mean its going to be hot. But im not wearing shorts. I can handle some heat (subliminal message-Kendrick is too cool to sweat). But shirt wise, I dont think a busy t-shirt is the thing. Because I don't want to look back on them and have the shirt taking away form the pics. Or is there a way to get one that has something geeky that doesn't ruin it? Or do I just go with a solid simple shirt of some kind with no writing?
Why do clothing models all look like they were just told they can in fact has cheezburger?
What shows geek but wont ruin the picture?

Any ideas?

I had to give this to a coworker so I just copied it over here.

Naan "Mexican" "Pizza"

An indian market called Subzi Mandi opened next door.
I hit them every day for a week learning the aisles and what foods they had. I also kind of maybe possibly followed people around and watched what they bought to see what an average customer from India or Pakistan was buying. I mean if they were eating it it must be good. google and wiki can explain the rest to me after I saw what they were buying... not creepy at all.. stop looking at me like that.

So I saw lots of people buying the Kulcha bread. Its like Naan and used in its spot many times. I got a ton of it for cheap and froze it.

I use it in this recipe and it is just so good.

for last night I made 3 portions and had leftovers of the filling for 2 huge burritos this morning.

3 pieces of kulcha/naan bread. I buy it frozen because it keeps just fine.
1 lb ground turkey meat
chicken taco seasoning, you can buy a package or make your own**.
refried black beans, we used a cholesterol free one with no lard.
shredded cheese
salsa, I have been LOVING peach mango salsa recently.
olive oil for the bread
shredded lettuce. Save a step and buy shredded unless you eat tons of lettuce shredded it yourself is a pain.

This is very simple and can be done while drinking beer and doing the running-man dance.

brush bread with a bit of olive oil and set aside for the first few parts.

Now you can cook the turkey meat. until done all the way through.

While this happens, warm up the canned beans with a bit of water to stop sticking. You just want a kind of bean dip/paste refried beans don't need real cooking.

About the time the beans are done and the meat is halfway cooked you can start warming the oven with the bread in it. Set it to 400 and place the bread with oil inside.

Once it gets pre heated take out and set aside.

The meat should be about cooked at this point.

Now, you can add the taco seasoning packet if you got it, or your own mix ** and some water and let simmer for about 20 minutes to cook down and really flavor the meat. I really kind of chop my meat as it cooks to make it very small and fine. I hate big crumbles for this recipe.

when the meat is done you can now assemble the pizza.

Layer one is just beans spread out on the bread. This gives a spot for toppings so they don't slide.

Layer two is a bit of cheese, the salt from the cheese helps the beans.

Layer three is meat, it will stick to the cheese and beans and not fall off.

Layer four more cheese, just a little so it melts.

Now back into the oven with these for about 5-7 minutes to heat and melt a bit.

Then crank that baby up to broil. Watch closely and let the cheese melt and bubble but not burn. burning is bad, it WILL make the smoke alarm go off and thus make the dogs bark and then when you run to fan it and open a window you forget about the oven and the oven then more burning happens and you end up eating Popeyes chicken and playing video games in a bad mood. Safety first folks, safety first.

Now take them out and add shredded lettuce, salsa and cheese Don't put too much, it will just fall off.

You can make this look really fancy on the plate too and amaze your guests. After it comes from the oven before the lettuce part. Cut it into 4ths. Then place on round plate and spread out to the four corners of the plate. Now take the other pizza and cut it the same way and place those four pieces in the middle of the plate and slightly spread out so they are not touching. sprinkle the lettuce and cheese around hitting each slice then top with a spoon of salsa each. Now it looks like a nice appetizer. Sour cream dollops would help to, but me and sour cream ain't getting along right now.

You should have crispy crust and cool lettuce and then warm beans and meat with each bite.

This can be done without meat. But when I heard my guest didnt have a real lunch that day I thought meat would make her feel better.

** taco seasoning is really a mix of red pepper, cumin, oregano, salt, garlic powder and onion powder. for more heat add cayenne pepper to taste

It was a short notice meal, but it came out damned good and everybody wanted seconds.

She is in town for a job interview at a school near by so we scouted out the place to make sure she knows how to get there today while we were at work.

This morning while I was making leftovers into awesome turkey, bean, cheese and chicken burritos, Applehead noticed her sisters car was flat. Lots of traffic she was gonna take somebody out I just know it. So many times in the last few years we hear stories of drunk drivers and people getting killed. So we couldn't just sit up and hope it turned out OK. So we followed and got the cops the info they needed. When she came to a stop she was about 50 feet from a bridge. The way she was driving she would have easily went over and that would have been it. Also, when she stopped and I got out to get the plate number and the guy she almost hit went to check on her she got afraid to drive off again. So that ended her little rampage. We found out this morning she lives in our complex and has a kid. The apartment office was asking us if she had her little girl in the car(thats how we found out) and luckily she didn't.

Some people have said we should have just called the cops and went to bed. But, I think that attitude gets us all in more trouble most of the time. "let somebody else handle it" "Its not my business" But if you live in the community, many things affect you. We just let somebody else handle it and she hits a family at a light, or takes out electricity for a few blocks, or kills her self, or runs over the dude walking and kills him and leaves the scene. What if he had a family, what if she had her daughter with her? After all, all that is needed for bad guys to win ifs for good guys to do nothing. And if you are driving drunk you're a bad guy in my book.

So that means more comics and gaming and wedding planning.

I am currently talking to Travel agents about a trip to Vegas and one to Japan.

If anybody knows a good travel person they use and trust I would like to give them money as well.

With a little team work we cranked out a batch for last night and a batch to put into foil and zip locks bags to freeze. Ill just pop the foil into the oven when we want them again.

we pretty much made a filling with some chicken tenders i cooked and seasoned with cumin, lemon pepper, garlic powder, salt, black pepper and corriander. cooked them until done then chopped them up into damn near chicken dust.

then in that skillets drippings and brown bits added a few spoons of water and cooked down some yellow onions. added a can of Salsa verde and then the chicken back and some creamed cheese and then shredded colby jack cheese. cooked that for about 7 minutes until all mixed and cooked through.

Spooned that into some corn tortillas and into baking dish, covered with more sauce and cheese and baked for 15 minutes at 350 covered and then for 8 minutes uncovered.

With a little salsa it was good.

So, with PSN giving me the big screw you.
I started playing DDO (Dungeons and Dragons Online) for free.

Very fun and I think I said it before, one of the best games in relation to the way the rules work, the voice overs and the puzzles, monsters and world. They are getting better every update and its great.

I dont join guilds right away in most games because I hate politics and craziness. And yes... I feel I am a better geek than some players, lol and dont want to be in a group with people who are shouting stats and reading manuals to me about the benefits of taking an intelligence bonus over an intelligence boosting item....

So the second night im playing i join a two man group with a rogue. My Wizard does insane damage is is a utility mage to get through spots and fill in roles when we are missing people. The guy is telling me about how cool his guild is.
Really, every five seconds, "we are so chill" "we dont do drama" "we have so much fun and are a real cool group"
OK, he convinces me and I want to see what the new guild mechanics are. I have always been in "guilds" that are very non traditional and so I have missed out on lots of cliches and MMORPG standards. So why not give it a shot.

So I join, the next day I log in, Day 4 3 of playing, I get a bunch of cool greetings and welcomes on the guild chat. I talk back, swap some jokes and feel at home. I team up with a player. She tells me she is on thin ice with the guild leader. I ask why, at this point, 5 people are kicked from the guild in the guild chat box... Odd, I think.. She says its two of the guild leaders secondary accounts he was just making room. No biggie. Well then she tells me why she is on thin ice..

Apparently she just broke up with the guild leader and he was not taking it well... Then He makes her the guild leader, and leaves the guild...

A message goes out right before and 20 plus people leave in mass exodus...

So, im in a private group with this girl. a Paladin and I wanted her bonuses to do some quests. And she pretty much looses it about this.

She makes me an officer and tells me and another guy she needs help running the guild. Then she tells me her life story.. Why in the hell do people feel the need to do this to me. I am not Oprah/Montel Williams. Then she says she is gonna rest for a bit after we do some quests. To other guys from the guild join us. Then one sees what happened and quickly leaves the group then the guild. The old leader has a new guild called Elite Smokers (classy) and he joins that one...

So eventually this other guy and myself are newly made officers. I sign off to get something to eat ready. I come back and lo and behold. the girl Shay, makes me leader, changes the message of the day to "I cant take this and I am if you want to join the other guild heres the name. Bye" she then quits. So now I am the Guild Leader for a medium sized 25+ members, guild in DDO.

BUSY morning.

good weekend though.

We got little mel back Thursday evening and he was great. I had school and then the next day off.
So did homework most of the day and hung out with my little fat boy.
He is doing much better and we are glad to have him home being a fart and barking at the apartment gate and garage door opening.
He was a little sore from the poking so not much rough housing. But he woke me up Sunday afternoon from a nap with a little fighting so he is good to go.

PSN network was up and down so much it made me insane. Since cancelling cable TV we use our internet connection A LOT. So at any given time, we have one torrent at least and are streaming video from Netflix or Hulu or the new Roku Channel Crackle, on the internet from a computer or iPad and playing iPhone word games with about 5 people. But with the PSN issues I have to kill everything to get a connection for about 5 minutes before it drops. Its gotten out of hand so I started playing DDO again for free to relax after working on school work.

Monday. got up early and Applehead had to run the puppies to the vet for yearly checkups and a followup on Mel. I went to work out and then catch the bus to work.
15 minute run on treadmil, insane ab work out and some quick free weight sets, then run back home and make lunch, soba noodles with sesame seeds, soy beans, kelp granules, ginger and sesame oil. Then breakfast, graham crackers with nutella and peanutbutter. Shower and scramble to the bus stop.
The driver was a dick and wouldn't stop in the spot where EVERYOTHER driver stops that is a block closer and literally across the road from my office. So I had to walk a little farther than I would like to the door. But hey, at a 1.75 for a trip, it beats driving hands down.

So at the office tired and hungry and coordinating moving my pen and paper gaming group to Monday or Sundays and researching why formulas change when my program runs at work. How dare the program say my code isn't perfect!

DnD recap

its been a long campaign, and pretty damned fun..
Lets start at the beginning.

We have a rotating group and its still good because of our regulars.
Amos, a sentient hommunculus with an illusion to look like a gnome. He has several smaller constructs in his employ named Thing 1 - 5 They stack inside of each other and do tasks he needs help with.
Tepest a teifling with some crazy class combinations, she can heal, do rogue skills and allow us to remake rolls and saves several times a day.
Tila, (me), a sun elf monk on the path to become an arcane archer but with shuriken
Decemeber, a dragon kin ranger
Lola, a shapeshifter bent on making money to pay off a great debt.
A water elf druid

When we started the characters made a deal to help out the master of Amos and get some items for him. Upon doing so they discovered a Spelljammer vessel and went to gather the items on a planet where they were much more abundant. When there they noticed the planet was crawling with large Trolls. but the Trolls were different than ones they had experienced in the past. They were docile and pretty stupid and were content to eat a flower the grew all over the planet. In fact, most other plants did not do well with the competition of these flowers. The troll party member never ate the plants and soon become affected by simply being on the planet. His regeneration was increased, he became more violent and stronger. Soon he realized he could rule an army of trolls and destroyed much of the camp as he could and ran away. When the party tracked him down they discovered for the days he was gone he had been removing his fingers and growing copies of himself. The only way to stop him was to find a way to get him to ingest the plants and subdue him. Many things happen and he is taken out after eating many plants. The group leaves with the items they came to get and with a sample of the plants thinking they can be useful against trolls in the future.

When back home the plants quickly begin to sprout, with no real help they begin to grow in the shop they spend down time in.

Soon they sprout all of the villages outside. Towns people find they can eat the plants and cook them and grow them very easily.

However, the properties of the plant are becoming apparent as people begin to not care about much else but growing and eating the plants.

At this point my character arrives.

Tila comes from a the forgotten city of Tim. A lawful city that exists in a desert and is lost to all who search for it. the city is cursed and all who are born here never leave. Leaving puts you in the desert where you can travel for weeks only to be on the verge of death and return to the city gates.

The city proper is very small but to each of the cardinal directions there are portals. These portals lead to other parts of the city which are actually pocket dimensions that can support millions of people.

They are designated for certain areas. one for hunting, one for entertainment, housing, and so on. Being a very lawful city, it has a caste system and Tila is a guard. Her father was a great scholar, but went mad when he claimed he was able to leave the city and return. He was branded as mad and somehow convicted of treason. His family and belongings given away and he sentenced to death. To protect herself, Tilas mother gave her to the guards for training and never spoke to her again. She grew up as a guard and at the age of adulthood an old woman approaches her, her mother, and gives her scrolls detailing her fathers life. When Tila does her own research into his death, she is also convicted of a crime and banished from the city. Her banishment actually teleports her to the city where the party is.

Never seeing an actual door or a city as unkempt as this she is amazed and tries best to fit in. Thinking these people will help her return to the amazingly perfect city of Tim, she agrees to help. Tilia does not understand money, all of the foods are strange to her. Doors do not exist in Tim. Magic is common place and most things are traded for magic items or services. Tests of skill are common place as the city, like any other has adventurers, yet these cannot leave the city to find quests and they are limited to what adventure they can find in the hunting grounds.

The party discovered the plants are growing all over the city quickly. After research and digging they find the plants are subject to magical destruction More importantly, spells that affect the undead. Yes, they are dealing with undead flowers.

With the help of the druid they enchant holy water and try to eradicate them. It does not work. Eventually they find a man who claims to be responsible for these plants in some strange way. He thanks the group for bringing them to this planet and When it is discovered that he plans to accelerate the plant growth throughout the city the group takes action to stop him.

Eventually a woman who runs a fighting arena in town, Natalia, offers to help in return for strange favors. She simply copies the abilities of the party members and pays in large amounts of platinum and then gives them tips on defeating the Telandran plants. She actually copies Tilas memories of the Lost city of Tim and pays her the most.

They defeat them but the leader is not killed, he disperses but they are able to rid the town of the plants. Talia helps and it is discovered that her Spelljammer ship runs on fuel of undead. so the plants she has helped rid the town of are used as an almost endless fuel supply.

Amos opens a shop and makes magic items and the group rests for months.

Natalia makes a deal with the group for more large amounts of money. To help her raise her dead brother from the grave. She needs several items and a long quest begins.

They need items that represent Law, Eath, Water, Fire, Air, Evil, Pure Good and Chaos.

It takes a while but the gather the items. Most are in the form of creatures. Unicorns, baby elementals a dead paladins hammer and so on.

The last item is a creature who lives in the Underdark.

With the inhabitants being so wary and hateful of topsiders, they are all given items by Amos to disguise them as Drow.

While in the city trying to formulate a plan they run into very high ranking Drow female. She sees through the glamour immediately but finds the group amusing. After some conversation it is found she is also under a glamour and wishes to leave the Underdark, but it is not possible. Magic of certain types is outlawed him and teleportation is one of them. After more discussion it is found she is the sister of Natalia and would like to escape to see her sister again and will help the group. To do so, she wishes a favor from the group and will help them capture the beast they look for.

She tells them she needs them to increase her social standing in the city by taking down the matriarchs of 3 great houses.

The group also discovers that their concepts from living above ground make them stick out. So they place the shapeshifter character into a position in the Church and have her learn for them. time goes by and they realize they have to move quickly because soon Lolth herself will appear in the city. If anybody can discover them then she will. The elf especially as non-drow elves are prized for torturing.

They set about by taking down the leaders of the houses.

One is exposed as having undead servant spies installed in all houses.

Another is embarrassed when she is herself tortured infront of her subjects.

the third is to throw a grand party complete with a live torture session. The group sabotages the preprations and release her Mindflayer party entertainment and all of the underdark children she planned to feed to the creature.

Ilane then helps the group take down the church by attacking the head priestess in her service. The church is actually covered in an ancient magical text that only some can see and very few can read. Tila being born and raised in Tim can read it easily and during the fight uses it as best she can with no real magical training to fight back. They cause enough of a distraction and Ilane unleashes the chaos beast they came to capture and it wreaks havoc in the church allowing them to escape. The group discovers that the Underdark is indeed an orb with a city inside of it, much like a snow globe. Put there by a powerful mage years ago to keep something stuck down there. They pray never see whatever it was that needed to be kept. They leave the underdark and return to Talia. The sisters begin the ritual but fail in raising their brother.

Months pass and Tila has resigned her self to learning more about the world before attempting to return home.

She opens a dojo for training those on the path to peace and knowledge of the world.

Named after her fighting style The Ebon Wolf Academy opens with the large amount of money she has gained from adventuring.

In the city of Tim, Tila has no need for money and very little understanding of it and thus spared no expense on the school simply no understanding how much money is truly worth. Throughout the adventures as party members bought large purchases she sent money home to be kept relying on foraging and bartering to stay meagerly equipped. At the time of building the school she had amassed a great fortune.

Across the city another school opens.

Dracaonic Institute for Chaotic Kids.... DICK, they train and help dicks, lots of little dicks running around....

Rumors abound the DICK school is teaching kids thievery and murder. As Tila finds out it is one of her old party members running the school. After touring it she decides she must train her own students to take this place down.

Before she can begin., Talia gathers the old group back and offers wealth and more importantly favors, to help her and accompany her to Tim. After months she has reconstructed the memories of Tila and thnks she can find it.

Tila imagines this will give Tepest time away from DICK and maybe she can discover what is really going on with the school.

Talia has used the memories from Tilas childhood. Memories she has of looking at the night sky and uses them as star maps to figure out the location of Tim. Her books also tell her that travel by air is dangerous and may cause problems so they will travel to the great desert and then go in by foot using star maps to find it. Tila begins to realize many things about Tim as they prepare to set out.

There were no maps or star charts in the city. Books that detail history were also absent, In a city where knowledge is freely obtained, certain subjects were never even thought about and this weighs on her.

In order to make it there the party crosses a huge desert on magical walking wagons. Soon into the trip the wagons break down and Amos, the construct begins to break down as well. To survive, they are placed into a bag of holding. This is after they realize that Talia and Tepest are unaffected by the sands and weather. While the others are away Talia and Tepest speak and it is learned that Tepest is with child. This explains how she was able to build a school when she refuses to tell who the childs father is. It is someone that Talia knows and fears but she now understands where she got her extra money. They travel according to the maps and make it to the spot but no city is there. More traveling and a day later when the look back they see a city. they make in and are welcomed and find refuge in the Lost city of Tim.

more to come.

crazy days but fish at the end.

so melcocha got into some trail mix with raisins.
Raisins are apparently really bad for dogs. Bad for them in odd and unpredictable ways. Some dogs is can kill with one or two others can eat buckets and be fine. It causes acute kidney failure and sometimes doesn't present for days. So we took old farty feet to the vet and they kept him over night, did fluids and charcoal. He seemed OK, our normal vet recommended some more time and to keep checking his kidney function.
So once again our furry kids are costing a mint. BUT its OK and my little fat boy is worth it. We have a credit card for stuff like this and hey, it can be paid off when it gets paid off.

We were to worried to eat and do much of anything but they called us and said he was doing good and actually peeing. So still had no kidney problems. So then we cooked and went and bought cookies.

I made an olive, feta and herb stuffed tilapia and baked tomatoes with panko.
Amazing and by far the best fish we have had at home.

Took
four tilapia filets
1 can large black olives
1/.4 cup feta cheese
dried basil, oregano, marjoram, dill, salt and black pepper and kelp granules.
lemon juice
dijon mustard
1/4 cup panko
olive oil

preheat oven to 400

pat dry the fish and set aside while you use a blender or roughly chop the olives.
Mix olives with cheese and seasonings and panko.

With the fish, drizzle some lemon juice on each side and then black pepper on the back side.
Brush on layer of mustard and flip over. Stuff the olive mix inside and more lemon juice.

Now the tricky part, make a mix of the dried herbs and you can do this one of two ways.
You can pick up the fish and press it in the herbs, or you can sprinkle the mix down from high up.
Either way you want a good covering. If you fish is big and folds well then thats great, but tilapia filets are kind of split and folding is tricky.

Fold over to "close" up and bake for about 14 minutes. You can use a toothpick to close for the first part of cooking if you like I did because, yeah, tilapia is hard to work with in this way..

At the end, take some panko, salt and olive oil and mix until you get a crumbly but moistened mixture and place on top of the fish and bake until browned on top.

To server you can use lemon juice or butter and lemon.

the olives have a juice and so as they cook they release it and kind of internally "baste" the fish so it doesn't dry out in the oven which is always a risk for cooking fish.

I didn't have an after image because I was starving and we ate it pretty fast.

So, I read CNN at least once a day.

And I see the columns people put up and try my damndest not to read the comments. Much stupidity can be found in the anonymous comments of places. BUT, every once in a while I read them and I see much crazy. Recently I have been seeing the writers fire back at people in the comments. And it kind of makes me feel good. Sometimes letting things go unchecked will not make them go away. Sometimes ignoring problem lets the problem maker think they can get away with even more. So I do appreciate it now and then when the columnist responds to comments in a constructive and logical way.

http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/us/2011/04/11/natpkg.opinion.lz.cnn?hpt=C2
