Mirante News radio is one of the companies that make up Sistema Mirante, the 4th largest integrated communications group in the Northeast and the largest in Maranhão. The first broadcast was held on May 10, 1988. At that time, music was the strong point of the programming, made with the most notable hits of the time. Over the years, listeners became more demanding and Mirante News then adopted a diversified program with much more information, service provision, sport, music and interactivity.
The slogan “A Rádio do Maranhão” is a tribute to the work of the entire team - announcers, operators, technicians, producers and journalists - directly responsible for the quality of the broadcast and daily content. These professionals are deservedly recognized both by professionals in the field and by the local market, as the best radio team in Maranhão.
Present in a large part of Maranhão, Mirante News radio has its programming retransmitted by Rede Mirante SAT de Rádios, through 20 affiliated stations, bringing news to 200 municipalities in Maranhão. Due to its wide coverage, Rádio Mirante News looked for indicators to measure its communication efforts and its position compared to the competition. The need led Mirante News radio to start, in 1999, a partnership with Ibope - Brazilian Institute of Public Opinion and Statistics, one of the most respected research companies in Brazil, to carry out periodic research on the station's audience. In the most recent measurement, carried out in March 2009, the radio reaffirms its leadership with a 35.89% frequency share* among all News stations in São Luís.
Aware of the process of media convergence, Mirante News also began participating on the internet, through the website www.miranteam.com. The launch took place in mid-2001 and was positively received as an opportunity to expand the radio's publicity, as well as guaranteeing more listeners and new internet users as well.
