stagesoflove for the theme of "Five Ways to Say I Love You". Set about two years in the future, when Jaime and Kara are around 19.
Jaime smiled as the blur of blue and yellow streaked by him, disarming the villains and leaving them in a heap on the floor. He could have handled them, sure, but it was still nice to know someone was looking out for him. As the police sirens could be heard coming to arrest the crooks, he flew off, searching the nearby rooftops for Kara. He sighted her on the top of the Daily Planet, and swept down to wrap his arms around her from behind.
"Nice save." Jaime grinned.
"Thanks! I figured if I moved that fast, no one would get a clear look at me, and they wouldn't be able to tell...you know."
Jaime's hand drifted down to Kara's belly, caressing it. She was still wearing her standard uniform, but the pregnancy was definitely noticeable by now. "Are you sure it's safe to be fighting now, though? I mean, what if those guys got in a shot at you?"
"I am Kryptonian, you know." Kara crossed her arms in mock indignation. "Nothing short of an RPG is going to disturb this kid in here. I'll be fine."
Khaji Da beeped in Jaime's ear, and Jaime nodded. "Scarab says you're fine, and I should stop worrying."
"Smart Scarab." Kara laughed. "Man, I still can't believe this is happening. It was our first time! I thought with the different species thing and all that - "
"Yeah, me too. Is Clark still ready to kill me?"
"Only a little. He figures it had something to do with the Scarab, altering your DNA to make it compatible or something. I mean, we used protection."
"I guess I was just too potent for it." Jaime said, a sly grin on his face.
"Yeah, and you're a little too proud about it." Kara playfully punched Jaime in the arm. "What about your parents? Have they calmed down?"
"At some point, it went from yelling at me to realizing that they were going to be grandparents. I'm getting a lot of advice and lectures on responsibility, but they're dealing with it. Meanwhile, you know Paco and Kon are going to make it their mission to corrupt this kid as soon as it knows what they're saying."
"Kon made one too many jokes about Scarab babies. He's not allowed near me for the next four months." Kara shuddered. "You scanned me, right? Our baby's okay? Normal and all that?"
Jaime pulled Kara into a hug. "Ten fingers, ten toes. It's a perfectly healthy human-kryptonian hybrid."
"So...I guess you know if it's a boy or a girl, huh?" Kara said tentatively. "I don't know if I want to know."
"Um...yeah, I have no clue how to tell that. I could see the big things, but I'm just as clueless as most guys are at the ultrasound. Scarab offered to tell me, but I told it we'd decide together."
"Good boyfriend." Kara squeezed Jaime tightly. "I love you."
"Te amo." Jaime replied as he kissed Kara's neck, running his hand over her belly. "Both of you."
